The net lights would look amazing on the ground under some snow. I always love it when it snows on the lights on the ground. The snow lights up and glows, it’s magical!!
Thanks for talking how about they hold up in very cold conditions, i think some of the other guys covering this live in really nice weather (arizona, florida, California) and dont have to worry about how outdoors lights hold up and the mounting consoderations Going to tackle this next year and hope to snag stuff next black friday or amazon prime days. Liking govee so far
Brian. Great Govee product review! I was a Beta-tester for the original Govee Christmas String Lights, and as a result, I ended up using six strings last year on my 7½ foot tree. That's 1,200 light beads. I love the reviews that you and others (like Paul Hibbert) have done for the new Christmas Lights 2. These look absolutely fantastic! Rather than repurchasing all new lights, I opted to add three more of the original strings for a total of 1,800 light beads for my 2024 tree. It looks fantastic - though I really envy that 3D mapping capability. 😅
OmG, I haven't seen any recommendations for my friend Brian here in almost a year. I'm happy to see one today. And thanks to your comment, you reminded me of Paul's channel. I forgot all about him and he made me laugh. He was a master at baiting me *(NO OBAMA).* Whom I've haven't seen a recommendation/alert in my algorithm for even longer. Which also makes me think, what happened to 'Tech with Brett' and 'Majestic'? Wow, UA-cam has been completely hating on my Smart-Home channel family. I guess now that the election is over, UA-cam is no longer trying to push me far left. And now, it's back to my regularly scheduled programs. Glad Brian didn't give up.
If you're going to use these for Christmas decor outside, build a PVC frame to attach them to that you can just hang up in garage out of season and quickly put up each fall.
23:20 Water bag? Interesting design choice. Shoulda been a sandbag for cold weather use or it's gonna turn into a burst ice bag in pretty short order. 🤔
Great contents, love Govee and Twinkly, UK based 🏴, have quite a few of both, recently had the permanent 2 light's installed and they packed up in a week 😭was sent a replacement but need someone again to change 🤦, I like the nets maybe after Xmas in the sales 😉, new home looks nice 👌
That's not something I was able to test. I only had the one curtain light 2. I think you could make it happen though in 2 ways. 1. Scene as one device (I think that's how it works). 2. Automation - Turn on the scene on everything except the curtains. Turn on separate DIY scenes on the Curtains to make the scene you want. I hope that helps! Sorry, I don't have 100% of the details there
I love my Twinkly strings. I have scenes for Halloween (yes tree is up that early) thanksgiving, several christmas ones and GreenBay Packer colors for gamedays. I can access the individual scenes/effects directly in home Assistant and the like. Can Govee's Matter integration access their effects?
16:51 the statement about getting 2 of the curtain lights 2 being able to put them together to use one larger scene isn’t entirely accurate. The single sets of curtain lights 2 CANNOT be spliced together. You must buy the set of 2 or 3 curtain lights in order for 2 or 3 to work together. It clearly says this info in bold print on Govee’s product page for curtain lights 2.
When it comes to the longer gnat lights versus the shorter net lights, is it two separate units for the longer one that can only be controlled by one controller? One of my biggest complaints is I got really nice string lights. I think I got two or three strings but it only came with one controller so they had to always be connected instead of having three separate controllers and that really made me mad. So I'm wondering how do most optimize multiple net lights or what they're requiring of us?
The net lights I don't believe connect together. Just the curtain lights 2. And only certain sizes. In fact they sell it as a package! So you just buy that and you can see how it looks and works from that page 😀
They're expensive but they last so much longer than traditional lights and they're so much more versatile. I'm in the US so I put them up September 1st and take them down January 1st and just change the colors depending on the holiday so we don't have to keep buying so many lights for every holiday every 2 years! (That gets way more expensive and time consuming than buying the Govee/Twinkly/etc lights in the long run. With traditional lights it feels like you're constantly swapping everything out between holidays as if you aren't already pressed for time. It's a lot of unnecessary work and added stress you don't need during the holiday season. Plus it's much easier to take them down than put them up so you can put them up in warm weather and only have to do the taking down part in the cold weather.)

Giv’er! Nice overview Brian! Lots of great new Govee lights to supplement what they already released

Another really awesome video! Merry Christmas 🎅

Yeahhhh. It worked out because of the tent pegs they included thankfully!

Thanks for sharing! Too bad the lights went on ya there. That sucks....
Missed out on the tree! maybe next year.
@@21mejia25 there's always another Christmas! 😍

On sale at Govee for 50% off right now, I got mine and so far so good, thanks for the video
Enjoy!
In scene stage can 3 individual curtain lights 2 animation work like a purchase of a 3 set work similar?

Nope, Matter doesn't allow that
@@AutomateYourLife Just another bridged on/off event. shame on govee
@Bigglare ehhhh that's Matter, not Govee. You can use their API for scene controls as I understand it
@@AutomateYourLife the cloud? what happened to calling out companies?
@Bigglare it's a local API. You'll catch on ;)

You're right. I totally said this wrong. It requires a special purchase
Are the net lights only available in 2 sizes. I thought they were available in 1n 14 ft wide?
Yeah sorry, just the two. Maybe you're thinking the curtain 2's. They go that wide

The one I showed was the longer one. It was just a single controller for the whole set. Nothing separated at all
Anyone know the distance between each string in the Curtain Lights? I was thinking about embedding them into a wood/felt acoustic panel. Thanks
I believe it's the same as the net lights, but should be listed in the titles we put up in the section for curtain 2
If only Govee was available in NZ
:(
How big was your tree and what footage did you choose for your tree? 99ft?
8ft and yep! 99 ft
Govee is way too expensive in Australia to even consider purchasing...
And they aren't window winders
They are all over secondary sites like Mercari and Ebay for less than half the cost...buy once, cry once.
