    You better dont use it to install any component .. just use it when you want to remove one... Its heat can damage any component so quick.

    That would definitely make fixing flight controllers easy now if I just knew how to fix flight controllers. But I have a feeling I will see some videos soon of someone fixing a bunch of broken flight controllers. LOL thanks for your great informative videos! I try to let everyone I know in the hobby about the best technical testing and fixing Channel in the hobby! DRONE MESH FTW!

      As owner of these tweezers I can confirm that they are quite nice for SMD component soldering in boards used for our RC hobby. Fixing broken Racerstar TattooF4S flight controller (soldering back teared capacitor and accidentally desoldered and lost resistor and capacitor (last two was nearly invisible 0402 packages), fried 5V BEC chip (AJY7FB, SOIC-8 package) removing) - check. Replaced 10 uF capacitor in ESC broken by prop strike - check. Fried 3.3V LDO voltage regulator in XSR receiver replacing - check. So when tips are adjusted, those tweezers become quite handy for casual board repairing (and we usually need no more). Don't forget about soldering paste!

    Will add this to my wish list.
    I have an R-XSR with 2 capacitors that de-soldered themselves and a runcam eagle sensor that needs re-seating. Fixing these will pay for the cost of the iron.
    For extra credit, touching up the connections on my foxeer arrow camera sensors will also help.
    I only run cameras at 5v now (and only VTX's off vbat or regulators). Lose less OSD chips that way.
    Would love a tutorial on diagnosing a blown OSD chip. I have 2 FC's with blown OSD's that everything else still seems to work on.

    Just ordered these. Cant wait to try them out. I would have preferred both the tweezer legs moved, not just one. It looks like it makes releasing components in place a bit harder to synchronize when used as a soldering tool. Still, great idea and overall design.

      @@Tenno-Heika Nah, it's alright. Much easier to use for small components than hot air or normal solder iron. It's not a must have tool, definitely not, but for the price it's alright. I have used it semi-regularly since I bought it.

  • @MCsCreations

    That's really amazing, dude.
    If I remember correctly, I have a soldering station from that same brand on my wishlist. It has the soldering iron and the hot air gun. It would be great if there's a pair of tweezers like that compatible with the station. You know? Then you would connect it instead of the soldering iron.

      I have the same thing (the soldering/hot air station). It's super useful, and I'd argue it's a better buy that these tweezers, but at the same time, it depends on what you need it for.

      you can get the same tweezers compatible with all of the hakko knockoff irons like yihua brand. the part number for the tweezers is 907M. you can also get hot air + tweezers stations like 938BD+ although it would be cheaper to get the 2 separately. I have the combo soldering iron and hot air station. the iron is crap and I'd only use it for soldering really big things that require 2 soldering irons simultaneously, but the hot air is fine. i was trying to get the 907M tweezers to go in that, but it was out of stock everywhere so i got this 938D.
      just be aware that all of these knockoff irons are pretty bad compared to big western brands. the tips are bad, they make poor contact with the heating elements, the handles get hot and the numbers on the display aren't very accurate. the tip they come with are far too sharp to do anything with, so you have to buy tips separately. (mine came with a tip that comes down to under 0.020"

    Great tool use a regular pair of tweezers to keep the Components flush with the PCD board and accuracy

  • @meercreate
    @meercreate 5 років тому +8

    Wouldn't the excessively long heat exposure from picking the capacitors up using the hot tweezers cause cracking?

    • @guffaw1711
      @guffaw1711 3 роки тому +1

      yup, especially multilayer ceramic capacitors are prone to cracking due to stresses when the PCB, solder joints and the MLCC aren't at the same temperature. a heat gun is recommended for these because it heats everything up more evenly.

    i think a good hot-air and tweezers do the thing , even a simple soldering iron and a tweezers do it, Tools doesn't make you a good repairman but a good repairman know well how to choose his Tools

    how big are those capacitors, 0402? I wonder if these tweezers are efficient enough for work with 01005, I do micro work and while I can do hot air/rework, this would speed up the process.

    Have you tried grabbing a wire or pin and pulling them out? When wires and pins are soldered into the small holes on flight controllers it can be a pain trying to hold the board, hold the soldering iron and pull out the wire with tweezers..

    just got these tweezers and I'm a bit disappointed. I know they're only cheap but the hinge has quite a lot of slop in every direction so its hard to keep the tips aligned to each other. Also the solder seems to want to go near the bend of the tip rather than to the very end which means it's difficult or impossible to use unless you get them down to a very shallow angle which often isn't possible
    For some reason it wouldn't lift an 0805 cap and a HC-49 SMD crystal even though I eventually did wiggle the iron it to be in such a position that both pads were melted at the same time. i thought it might have been glued, but it came off easily with hot air. (normally i much prefer irons to hot air as they give more control). I ended up putting a ton of heat into that part with the tweezers and damaging the plastic casing slightly. I think the reason i was struggling was because i was forced to go in at too high an angle.
    i did manage to desolder and resolder one 0201 resistor with these tweezers over and over without much problem. That probably only worked because it was on the edge of the board and I could get the tweezers in from a very shallow angle (almost flat to the board). These really aren't high quality precision tools at that scale, so I wouldn't expect it to go any smaller than 0603 or 0402 most of the time.

    Looks like a separate tools is needed to hold-down the part. Otherwise it looks like it will slip. Messy!
