I've had this card for a year and never found a good deal for the companion fare so traded it for 4 vouchers to the lounge, which has worked well for me.
I’ve had this card for 6 years and haven’t found a good use situation yet to use the annual travel voucher, I keep hoping every year I’ll use it but never will. There is a downgrade option I’m considering to a lower annual fee WestJet card.
It’s certainly a little challenging to get amazing value out of it, the lower annual fee version may be a good option if you’re not really planning on flying WestJet in the near future
I had mine for quite some time and so did my family. I ditched mine for a TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite and my family went for the Infinite Avion. Never got great value out of the companion voucher..
It's hit or miss with the companion voucher. I find that if you fly WestJet a few times a year, the card makes sense to hold, otherwise there are better options. How are you liking the Aeroplan Visa Infinite?
@@creditverseenjoying it! I like that you get preferred pricing on AC being a aeroplan card holder. Something I feel WestJet should implement if they want to stay competitive. I’m also an Amex cobalt holder, so it makes sense for me to have the TD as I transfer points from Amex to Aeroplan.
This is the only card I picked after moving from US as I needed a Mastercard which is accepted at all places inc Costco and hsbc is on brink of closing. Since I opened account with them, they provided this card along with the opening. Amex bonvoy is my next target. Could you please make a video on any application rules, frequency pertaining to Canadian cards?
No blackout dates ... yeah Blackout dates apply: August 2-6, August 29-Sept 2, Sept 27-30, October 11-14, November 8-11, December 15-31, 2024, January 1-6, February 13-17, 2025
Hi Damien! Would you please be able to direct me to where you found those blackout dates? If the information has changed, we need to make a correction in the video! I tried searching for it, but was directed to the WestJet Dollars page, under "Rewards" on the WJ site where it still says: "Travel on any date, with no blackouts - it’s that easy." Thanks!
@@creditverse nevermind i stand CORRECTED: www.westjet.com/en-ca/rewards/credit-cards/30fd/bn?i_cid=wj:wj-rewards:banner1:rewards:offers:CC-RTB--July-30FD This is for a 30% off but it thew me off. Do you know if I can apply for this credit card and use it instantly? I wanna apply for this card but I NEED to use it asap. Thanks
No worries, thanks for checking! It’s honestly been pretty hit or miss for me, it takes a couple of days to see it in your account sometimes and other times you have to go to the branch to pick it up.
Part of the companion voucher benefit you missed when you talked about Europe base fares being cheaper than the $399 voucher cost... you can use it for premium or premium flex. Which then would save you money for sure, get you better meals and a comfort seat for your flight across the ocean. I think it's a good card, and I like the simplicity of the westjet dollars being $1 for $1, whereas Aeroplan is way over complicated.
Air Canada’s long haul business class product is a bit better in my opinion, but for domestic flying I tend to choose whatever is cheaper/more convenient at the time

Ohh. Do you mind sharing how you were able to do this? And which lounge this would be applicable? Thanks in advance
A no brainer if you live in Calgary as the cheapest flights are always provided by westjet

@@FarouqJanmohamedthe major issue with Aeroplan is their program is far too complicated.

Thanks for the suggestion! It’s on our list for this year for sure
They still charge _125$ on the yearly fee
I agree with you, really only good if you live in the western part of Canada but there are better options for sure

Westjet is better in terms of on-time performance. I also love the fact they don't over book flights whereas Air Canada does.
@@HDCanadianTrainVideos Thanks!
I stick with the Air Canada program. West Jet does not serve me well out of Montreal to the Caribbean.
This card is trash now since they changed the Member Exclusive Fair structure
Hoping I can cancel the card and keep the WestJet dollars in my account
