Just FYI for anyone backing up a 12-word or 24-word phrase from any wallet (on this Black Seed Ink device or any other mechanism where you're simply storing the words) ... the standard that is used for these words is set up such that only the first 4 letters of each word are significant. For example, if two of your words are "journey" and "venture", only the "jour" and the "vent" need to be written down. There is no other word in the entire library of possible words that starts with "jour" other than "journey". So on any of these devices where you're writing down your words, you don't need to write down more than the first 4 letters of each word. This can make it easier to fit the words onto some of these devices. For storing my 24-word phrase, I just used a 1/8" piece of sheet steel and used letter stamps and a mallet to hammer the letters into the steel. I stored the piece of sheet steel in a safe place.
True. Only the first 4 letters matter to the backup and restore algorithm. But the reason the bip-39 word list consists of English words is because they are familiar and comforting to a human reader. "supply smoke bargain ride toward enable asset thought catalog bundle report hazard oppose gain oyster panel sign olympic ritual decade warfare ladder leader giant" is much easier to read and write down than: "4a5ab604bc4a11f09478fed60952dd88677850c580a93f44144deae6a518878f03f0e094c62331c5d18e5219bbcc4cf41895bd901537ae8b35648854e0f81774"
and it makes much more sense than "supp smok barg ride towa enab asse thou cata bund repo haza oppo gain oyst pane sign olym ritu deca warf ladd lead gian"
But yes, you only need to write down the first 4 letters of each word. It is more precise and shorter than writing the entire word on the metal plate and takes up much less space.
i change place of those words, for exemple date of bith of my dauther, exemple if she Born 1-6-2010 so letter 10 i replace with no 1 and no 6 remain. and One more layer ...always first and last letter exchange with eachother.

i did a lot of research on a backup for my hard wallet. Black Seed Ink seemed the simplest and least expensive. I tried stamping on the washers (the homemade backup) but that was a pain and very inaccurate using the stamping set and was more expensive than this. I have the Black Seed Ink kit and wanted to watch you first before I did it. Now that I have watched you, I'm going to do it! Thanks for demoing this.

Always great content. Thank you. Question: If a ledger with accounts on it, has to be rebuilt, does it need to be restored with the matching 12 or 24 words matching the original account?
I love products like this. One major flaw that I do see is they plaster their name all over it. If I by chance came across this without knowing what it is. The first thing I would do is search it out on the internet. Low and behold total disclosure at this point and everything falls apart. I am sure this would be with most anyone. Why don’t they understand this? It goes the same way with hardware wallets? Why not just identify with a design?

Thank you, your knowledge is priceless! I was wondering if you knew how I maybe able to retrieve coins that were sent to an account/address that is no longer on my nano - it was deleted a year ago. I have explorer details on these transactions but not sure how to get coins back. Thank you in advance if you may know the solution.
Recording the PIN code seems kind of redundant since the seed phrase is all you need to gain access to the wallet. I think it makes more sense to set up your wallet using an additional BIP39 passphrase and then use that spot to record it.
