Not so easy to install as the video shows. At least the left spring is 1,5-2 cm shorter than the distance between fitting points. It is factually impossible to manually pull and clip.
I had to pull from it attaching one side to a column and put a "["-shaped bar between spring ends maintenaining it enlarged. Then I finally was able to install it. Not easy and potentially dangerous for fingers and eyes if the bar escapes. If anyone doubts, I checked the reference and compared new and original and they are exact twins. So no mistake from my side.
By the way, I think the problem is only the right spring, so you should only replace than one.

Ojo porque no es nada fácil ponerlo aunque en el vídeo parece sencillo.
El muelle izquierdo encogido es al menos centímetro y medio o dos centímetros más corto que la distancia de instalación. y es materialmente imposible estirarlo a mano y encajarlo.
He tenido que estirarlo fuera, atado a una columna y poner una pletina de hierro en forma de C entre los extremos del muelle para mantenerlo un poco extendido. Para quien tenga dudas, el muelle es el correcto por referencia y comparado con el original es exactamente igual.
Menuda odisea.
Por cierto, el que suele fallar es el muelle derecho. con el izquierdo no he conseguido nada.
thanks for the video, i bought my spring off ebay and it wasnt a bmw original, i had problems at the rear end i.e. the ball and socket end. the socket end of the spring was slightly different to the original in that it had a small piece of spring steel on one side presumably to make it more secure and stop it popping off when in use. i found it impossible to push the spring onto the ball in situ and was going to give up but noticed that the ball was actually threaded into the bodywork of the car and was quite easy to remove. i used pipe pliers to then clamp the spring socket end and the ball together and it popped in ok, i used grease on the ball and socket and put a spare nut on the thread of the ball to protect the thread.(it would have been much easier with a vice but i dont have one at the minute) , it was then quite easy to install the spring and screw the ball end back into the body and its working fine, cheers derek

The video never showed the end result, I replaced both springs and it made no difference. I am totally confused as to why it didn't fix the issue.

Yep if u change a leftside is a just spirng. Right side is spring with gas shock
Did you HAVE to replace both?? Were both broken
I had the same issue. i replaced both springs and it has made no difference. My trunk still flies open. What next? I am confused as to why the new springs didn't solve the issue?
For me only the driver side spring needed replacing

HOW THE F did you manage to install the spring back??? I uninstalled my old left spring because of you and now i cant install none of them

@@kenoneill8783 he made it look like you can install the left spring with your bare hands, this is pure disinformation, of course i blame him.
It can't be that hard can it? I saw one guy here use what looked like slip joint pliers to get them on, don't give up just like that!
