Another little note, Odin attacks do not fill up Clive's LB gauge at all, probably to balance out that it fills up the Zantetsuken bar.

You can for sure tell DMC guy worked on this. Odin is a mix of vergil and dante from DMC5. I LOVE IT

Clive fights like Dante from Devil May Cry and when equipped with Odin fights like Vergil. I gotta say when Clive has Odin Power equipped his fights really really fast.
Did you know the combat director for dmc 4/5 worked on this game his name is Ryota Suzuki

I would note one thing for when Clive orients the sword behind him before doing the high level attack: This is the pose I would expect for a draw-strike. His left hand is holding the sword in the same position as if it was in a sheath.
And given that attacks named Zantetsuken are often instant-kills in the FF series, I wouldn't be surprised if the max level attack was immediately fatal to all mob-level enemies in the area. Or maybe mobs that are [x] levels below you, or are already below 50% health, or some variant thereof.

I really hope there are more equipable Eikons we haven't been shown with abilities that alter Clive's base moveset like Bahamut and Odin.
I hope so too! I hope there’s some progression of change to our base combo that subtlety adds in Eikons
I remember seeing an odin ability in the trailer were Clive runs forward making a path with a flurry of left and right slashes.
YES! Someone pointed this out on Reddit too. I completely forgot to include that attack though it’s most likely a lunge attack when enemies are far away

I have no idea to be honest! I hope we get either of them in some way so we can battle with as many elements as possible

Rift slip might also extend ure combos instead of just be an panic button. also it helps people not getting out of ure big spells like shivas and rahmus.

Im so gonna equip odin all the time once hes available
Odin seems to be to me a slash and run eikon with heavons cloud he strikes an enemy quickly and dashes to another and also rift slip gives you time to run away or time to attack an enemy and zantetsuken all level seem to get enemies far away into the air like a push into the air but if the hands had saw blades on them

lol Odin's sword looks like a cooler (hotter?) version of the masamune
I really hope there some type of weapon wheel so that we can switch out one of our eikons for another one in the backrow in battle or in the field I don't want to go the menu everytime.
Hey when the game releases will you breakdown odins form change like how you breakdown kingdom hearts form changes by telling us how each strike looks

Correction on the zantetsuken. The level of the move would be dictated by how many gauges it takes up, so when you say the level 2 version, it’s actually the level 1, level 3 was level 2, and level 5 was level 4. Notice what level the gauge was before and after Clive uses zantetsuken
Oh weird. Yeah I was going off the score indicator to name them and those have like lvl 2, 3, and 5. But what you’re saying makes sense
Wrong. Bio-Roxas is right in this video. They show level 2, 3 and 5. It’s confirmed in the video itself when executed, it’s says on the rights side of the screen. Like when the game shows perfect dodges and eikonic strikes, etc.
You forgot to mention Zanzetsuken is Yojimbo’s move from Final Fantasy 10.

Oh yeah definitely! I’ll put out a more detailed breakdown of how each ability works and the best ways to use each one and the Eikon as a whole

Also worth noting that Gungnir especially but also the AoD basic combo seem to do very little damage. My two thoughts on this are "maybe he deals a lot of Will damage instead" and/or "maybe it's to balance out how hard Zantetsuken hits, making Odin more of a Burst Damage eikon compared to the other eikons who are more sustain damage/utility kits"
Yeah I wonder if using those is more so to build up zantetsuken so they balance it by taking away some damage
Gungir is definitely for Will breaking, and remember the stagger multiplier stacks based on number of hits so this would also be a good ability to build the multiplier before using your stronger Eikon abilities.
Great breakdown and I wonder if they will have an instant kill ability to pay homage to the Odin summon we love from the games? 🤷🏻♂️
I think I saw someone else saying they were hoping the maxed out ability will have a chance of killing lower level enemies which I think is a great idea!

I wonder, is the slowdown from odin a counter skill or is it something you can activate?
Hmm that's a good question! I could see it either being a small AoE or a counter.
@@BioRoxas ya, I got curious since every eikon seems to get their own counter. All of them work without getting hit, albeit with a weaker effect. I hope that if it is, the non counter option could be used to extend stagger break mode or half stagger state from garuga's eikonic ability for extra attacks.
"Zantetuken" is a Japanese word.
"Zan" means cutting, "Tetu" is iron, and "Ken" is Blade.
It's an old Japanese word for a sword that cuts through anything.
"Zan-Tetu-Ken" is an Odin-specific attack in the Final Fantasy series that instantly kills enemies in previous games.
Clive's final move on a level 5 attack may be a martial arts move that wipe off blood rather than slashing.

Fitting considering that with every other appearance of Odin, Zantetsuken is a one-hit kill on all non-boss enemies.

dont like this battle system at all but wish i did it looks good for a dmc fan.
I need to make a video on it cause it’s been knocking around in my head, but this seems like a natural progression of Action RPG mechanics and seems a little bit less technical than DMC so if you like kingdom hearts, I think this will be a fun one to try
@@BioRoxas honestly these last 2 ff games like 13 and 15 was horrible imo with way to much hand holding and zones instead of an open world I honestly think they are trying to be something final fantasy has never been. It use to be about classes and like ff 5 were we could mix and match different jobs,but now its more like go here do this then kill that and on to the next chapter its so tedious and boring with all the hand holding with no punishment for spamming the attack button it makes a games battle system just way to repetitive for me. And I understand most think this game will be goty but I really don't ever see this type of game ever getting goty ik for me the battle system by itself is enough to keep from even trying it and a lot of us that enjoy an open world with classes,jobs,builds and just the ability to make your way to the end of a game this is just not it.

im a little annoyed at the health pool of these enemies. but im sure its just a play demo thing and not actually representative of the real health values.
Mr Happy mentioned that they turn down the damage a lot in these showcases because it lets them show off more attacks in a combo
In the demo mobs die very quickly, but mini bosses and bosses have a lot more health, which I think is a good thing
