For reliability, yes, they are great. All though, i know many which have failed, and my trusty Land Rover is still going. Ultimately, the performance of the RR and LR models out performm the Japs everything.
I have a 2001 P38 4.0 HSE as my 2nd car! Full engine rebuild and new EAS (air bags, sensors, and compressor). Really can’t beat the V8 experience! No rust and perfect original body & trim. P38s get a bad rep, but they’re more transparent with their problems and usually easier to fix these days than some of the more complex issues the L322 can throw at you! Also I’ve found the P38s are doing better in terms of rust these days than the L322. I still want a 4.4 naturally aspirated Jaguar V8 L322 but it’s impossible to find here in Northern Ireland. They rarely come up for sale! Great video btw!
For a car that got that bad rep, they are surprisingly easy to fix! Much more old-school than the newer L322. However, even now - I feel the L322 are fixable if you know what you are doing! I have an old 4.6 P38 with about 85,000 miles. There is actually a review on this channel. I rather like it! Regarding, the 4.4 Jag being rare in NI. You should try ROI, our government has cars like Land Rover at maximum tax. It's madness.
In the Facebook groups, everyone swears theirs is best despite most people only having experienced ownership of one model. I paid £5k for a 2009 3.6 TDV8. It needs paint, but has already had turbos done and comes with loads of history. At £5k it's not worth sorting the paint, but it drives great. Tempted by a later 4.4 or even 5.0 Supercharged but prefer the looks on the first two shapes.
I 100% agree. TBH, they're all great cars in their own way. Driving a 3.6 at the moment, but I've also owned a 4.4 TDV8, and 3.0 TD6 in the past. No experience of a 5.0, but I imagine it's great.
Which Range Rover would you buy? Let me know in the comments 👇
A Japanese 4wd.
Interesting

Have a 2005 4.2 supercharged, summer weekend use only, in green, love it.
Very nice!
Thanks for informative video
You're welcome! I feel this video gives the beginner an understanding of the various models!
Great video
Thank you!
How about the petrol versions, i.e. 4.4 v8, BMW or Jag engine..
I'm afraid, I have limited knowledge of them. Have used a 4.4 years ago, and would recommend. All in all I believe they are more reliable.

Nice video - my choice is the original L322 Daddy - 2002 Vogue
I feel you're right. Now is the time, as clean ones are only going to go one way!
3.6 tdv8 or 4.2 supercharged engines. Condition and maintenance are key.
I've never driven the 4.2 - would love to give it a go!
