Hello Sir, i have a question and its bordered me for months... if you go to your search mod - you can pick out single buildings in every category - when i take such a building and place them , they are always abandoned and delete themselfs in a few seconds.. What is the issue here ? Did i miss a mod or something ? Sorry for my bad english :D Greetings from Black Forest Germany !!!
Fort John? Military Forts are always named from the last name of a Commander or someone that is being honored. As a military person I find the naming a miss and a little disrespectful.
Suggestion: Hey from Boston here, Boston pride themself in their sport team and is mostly know for their sports team, Boston Celtics who just won a title this year and holds the most championships (TD Garden Celtics/Bruins), Red Sox a historic team with the oldest stadium in mlb (Fenway Park) and you have the Patriots who was a dynasty for majority of the 2000 (Gillette stadium), Would be cool to see if you add a stadium among downtown maybe? Could create cool story among it, like the Fenway park for example that was build in 1912, Thanks for the video!
Please tell how do u keep your industry so small? I don’t understand. Whenever I’m starting a new city I end up with having 1/2 of my city as industry or with absolutely no demand for commercial/residential because I don’t have enough industry :c
Instead of Winter, why not Windsor. Pays homage to the "New" England roots (Windsor is a city in the UK), while also being pretty similar in style to "Winter".
You know what I love about long videos? I can extend my watching period over several days if I want to and it doesn't pass by as quickly. It's somehow satisfying in a way to finish a longer video eventually than watching short videos quickly :D Thank you for the long videos Infra!
Its funny that after 250 odd videos I can still be surprised by the enjoyment people get from watching them - I didn't think someone would "extend" the viewing session by separating it like that :-D Thanks as always for the support champ!
That is something I often do too. I recently discovered this channel (the first video on this new city was the first one I watched) and it's very different in terms of builds, so I'm learning a lot
Exactly, I do the same. I watch his videos over several days, always before going to sleep. His videos are relaxing ^^. And then usually he uploads a new video when I finished the old one haha.
Suggestion: shipbuilding industry. New England historically was the center of America’s ship construction, and still produces destroyers and submarines at Bath and Groton respectively
In the UK, there are often roads named for the old ship building factories that lined them. I think Ropemaker Street is one of the best examples of this and would be a good fit for Fort John!
How about naming the area "Little Sicily" for daffodil? With many Italians having migrated to Massachusetts, and Fort John being a historic city, it makes sense that Italians would have a neighborhood they call their own. The proximity to the industrial district also fits, as many Italian immigrants worked in the local industries. It’s a fitting tribute to their heritage and contribution to the area.
I agree. "Daffodil Downs" reminds me of Bay Village in Boston, an extremely small neighborhood of well preserved federalist rowhouses between the South End and Back Bay, that doesn't see the tourism of some other well-preserved Boston neighborhoods. This neighborhood is also similarly located between downtown and some former industrial areas. The federalist architecture is also the namesake for Federal Hill, Providence's Italian-American neighborhood. So I think Little Sicily fits quite well.
My idea for the college is Saint John’s College (or Institute, Academy, etc.) Established in 1842, a bishop in the city gave up part of his land to found a college named after Saint John (John the Baptist). It was initially an all-male religious academy but by the 1910s grew to become a quite prestigious medical school. During the late 1980s, the building was expanded to fit the larger growth of students (perhaps named after one of the Cole family members). Fort John’s Hospital was crucially built right down the street - not just due to the central location - but for the quick commute for students at St John’s
In the US, idk about Europe, some colleges and universities have K-12 affiliate programs. So the elementary and high school could be part of the university. They could have been built with charity by the Cole family. Edit: If possible, I'd like to suggest that a mansion could be built in Coleridge that is the Cole family's estate or as a historical site related to the Cole family.
My Idea for Bay road would be that, Bay road changed over the time to Bay row through local pronociation and is now called Bayrow street. Also it could sybolise the highrise downtown buildings on this road
I know you want to make downtown as dense as possible, but maybe you will find a place for very old European style buildings there? If this is the capital, then I guess it was founded by Dutch or English settlers. A tile or two of old buildings at the waterfront would give this city such a nice vibe in my opinion.
Stick with the pedestrian brudge, but also add paths down to the doors so you end up with people using it. It would be cool to see students walking across it.
Some ideas for road names: - Jungmann Street: named after Karl Jungmann, German immigrant that developed a railway industry in the region - Palace Street: used to be a street full of mansions back in the days, now they're mostly old tall and expensive buildings (then you actually have to put one or two old mansions that may serve as cultural centers, museums) - Republic of Chile Street: in my city a lot of streets are named after countries or cities for X reasons, maybe because there's a community from said country. I thought of Chile because it sounds nice, could be any country or place. - St. Paul Street: a lot of streets have Saint names - Damascus Street: Syrian immigrants used to live there - O'Riley Street: One of the city's first mayors, James O'Riley - Circus Street: The old Circus was established there
Something I thought about and already posted in the last video, is if you want to add the cathedral to the city? Boston, as well as many other east coast cities, feature churches within the city centre/downtown, which can, but don't have to be surrounded by high density buildings. I also quite like the look of modern high density buildings compared directly to their old counterparts. E.g., New York, but also Boston's Trinity Church.
What if you formalize the union between the school and the park in Bay's End by turning the stretch of Garnet Street between the two into a pedestrian street? With a few props it would be possible to turn this street into a small open-air market for the residents.
In Cape Town, we have a beautiful skate park by the ocean called 'Battery Park' - it's beautiful and sounds epic. Since your area nearby is Battery Hill, why not make it Battery Park?
why don't you change the office building to be a college, adding maybe 300 or 250 capacity. the same way you did with the hospital. As well as the municipal building, change it to be offices
I would find it interesting if a large/important company had its HQ in the city center, possibly with a well-known/impressive tower which is the largest in the city. Near the city you could then place production buildings or similar of the company. The company could then be an important company such as BMW for Munich, for which the city is known. It is the main employer in the area and an important economic factor. Which would also solve the job problem.
I love that you are adding more municipal buildings; one of my favorite things I like to add when detailing! For some added realism and detail, you should make a custom vehicle lot on the outskirts of the industries and or by the empty area next to Bays end and across the street from the municipality office filled with some old garbage trucks, mail trucks, and police cars kept in reserve.
would be nice if you added a vineyard between the downtown area and the expensive housing district towards the edge of the island that have not been constructed yet. I wasn't sure if that was a thing in that state but apparently it is and I think it could be a cool filler in the more steep hills.
Living my cities 2 dreams through you, as I don’t have the time or PC quality to make it truly enjoyable for myself. So thank you for all your time and effort, this series is fantastic.
idea : in the daffodil area, you should remove one of the houses on the part with the steep hill and place in a viewing station cause i can imagine it would be a really nice view from the place. i would say the house furthers to right (from street view) would be the best one.
The University in Coleridge can be called Trestle University. You used train cars to make the building bridges. A train trestle is a bridge made of timber or steel that carries a railroad or road over a valley.
Using a train cart as a sky bridge is an absolutely amazing idea! The second one you used looked incredible after applying the matching color scheme, but the placement could be a bit better I think. What if you clipped 3 train carts together to hide the wheels and placed it where the other, pedestrian bridge sky bridge is?
I think Winter is actually spelled Wynter (pronounced Whine-ter). It's one of those things residents are really finicky about, like Houston St. in New York or New Orleans.
I really enjoy having both pedestrian connections in the college! Perhaps name the extension after someone like Richard A. Davey, who served as Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation and Head of the MBTA! It could allow you to make the railcar more apparent and give it a reason for being there.
For the college bridge i like the bigger passenger bridge way more than the train cart just because of the size, the connection shouldnt be hidden away otherwise they look like different buildings
A name for the 'Official Winter' district could be something like, Oakings; as possibly a large industrial company called 'Oakings' used to own a sizable portion of the area and this name could act as a historic district term. Another reason why this possibly could work, is possibly because Oak avenue extended to 'Winter' and of Oak park in this area.
I think that a park with a statue in the middle will fit very nice in that spot between the water and the intersection where queen’s passage meets bay road
Hey Infra, the city is turning out great! I was thinking you could build some more social housing projects, since the city is an economic hub. Maybe you could even build it either close to existing high-end development or prime building land. It might have a backstory of being a controversial project, since the city is using a desirable location, however the need for more affordable housing is major. Maybe the workers unions of the port and the upper classes of the city clash with each other through their local politicians. And the projects get named after one of the unions to thank them for fighting for the large but decreasing working class of the city.
I don't know have you noticed but I know that you have a mod that makes custom rowhouse corner buildings. That is cool but sometimes they generate in the middle of other rowhouses and I personally think that looks a bit silly as it breaks the uniformity of the rowhouses.
I think the big thing you're missing from the build at this point which you find all over Massachusetts are some indigenous placenames. I'd suggest maybe naming at least part of the Fort John district "Massaquiddick," which means "great island." Some other possible names might include Nashuaquat, Wampequaset, and Mattaquonack
CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO WHAT MODES AND DECALS DO YOU USE and HOW INSTALL Real Vision for C:S2. Yep, i know that we have an instruction on Github but i dont understand it
It feels so much like Portland, Maine that I can almost taste the lobsters. Your height differences are insanely nice for those interesting little areas of a city.
I think that Marine Drive would be a great name for Bay Road. Here in Vancouver, Canada, that is the name of the road that follows almost the entire waterfront.
There's an English author named Samuel Taylor Coleridge who wrote a poem about Kublai Kahn. Could call it Kahn Street, or something similar, and name the district after the main street through the micro-district.
I really think in the next episode we should start with planning out out public transit Especially with the development of the industry port area, very far from the city center. Obvious suggestion for the bus routes would be Central station to the port, one maybe towards the hill through winter. One maybe to Coleridge's education hub Maybe a tram line through winter downtown and Coleridge (a bit more geared near the waterfront, maybe as a sightseeing tourist route)
I picked up CS2 after Economy 2.0. So far what I have observed is that keeping the Tax Rate at 10% works best. The Citizens are happy, jobs are generated and we actually end up earning more per hour. I'm generating 35K+/hr for a city of 60K population which I think is pretty good.
@14:30 I think the covered ped bridge looks better, but i think you should add a column in the middle. The train coach doesn't really look like either the old original college building nor the modern extension to me, so i think the ped bridge is a better fit.
The road that goes along the bay makes it's way to the fort so I would of thought it would have a name like Troopers Road because I imagine the troops from the fort would patrol the bay. 😊
some opera house or concert hall on the coast like in sydney will look good i think… (special commercial building of shopping mall can look like that) PS great video as always ;))
Does CS2 follow the same education mechanics as CS1? Because if i remember correctly, when you place a bunch of housing, they all move in as needing elementary schooling, and will eventually become educated as time progresses, which lessens the strain on elementary schools, and moves the bubble up. Eventually, they will either graduate and move into the workforce or seek higher education. So all that strain on your school system will solve itself given time? Also, if you are seeking an industry focused area, having less education wouldnt necessarily be a bad thing, due to industry requiring less education than higher tech offices and businesses.
For Winter, I don't know what the name would be, but maybe that area used to house some important service for the fort or military in the past? Like where they kept cattle for a food supply, or perhaps where they made all the bricks for the fort, or the trees they used to make ships. So then something like Stockton (the old stock yard) Brixton (the brick factory) or Shipwood (the forrest that was there). Maybe these specific names are not the best examples, perhaps someone with more fort knowledge could provide a better one.
There is a large elevated rail intersection alot like this one over an interchange and river just south of Spokane WA look up I-90 and US 195 interchange thats in spokane.
Well... to be honest, I didn't like that super modern office stuck together with the old-style college. Looks kinda out of place. Also, there's a growing movement across the Eastern Coast to revert some of the modernized facades to their original shape. It'd be interesting to see that play out. For the sky bridge, the simple, the best! Name sugestion: Cole Institute. Avery was sir William's wife and fought for civil rights and equality during the initial suffrage. She became a sociology, economy and politics professor, and, in her honor, her politics students renamed the university to Avery Cole Institute. Though, time's passed and people now call it simply The Cole Institute
Are you planning on putting in an actual functional shipping dock? Seems kind of funny that you have a whole bunch of wharfs and docks and coastal industry but none that ships can actually dock to.
Nice expansion Infra! For those medians where you don't want turns but it leaves a gap: maybe try using _Traffic_ on the node and remove the "unsafe" turns since those are probably still in play and thus the median has the gap.
A name suggestion for Daffodil or Lakeside - "Brackendale" was once a small village surrounded by thick bracken-filled forests, named from the Old English words bræc (bracken) and denu (valley). In the 19th century, wealthy merchant Sir Reginald Cartwright, inspired by the area's supposed medicinal bracken, built a sanatorium to transform the village into a wellness retreat. Though the healing properties were exaggerated and the sanatorium failed, the village expanded and eventually became a city suburb. Today, remnants of Sir Reginald’s estate and the wild bracken still remind locals of its curious past - including the hospital that now bears his name.
Small name suggestion, what if you rename Bay Road to Beirut Street. With over time people mishearing the name Bay Road for Beirut so much that it eventually shifted the name of the street?
Hope you're having a great weekend everyone!

I like this!
Don't know if it's possible, but a city like this is definitely missing some more old-style churches
Oh churches would absolutely add to making it all feel old... but yeah there aren't any assets for churches so Infra would need to custom-build it.
You could use the fire house asset. That’s the closest we’ve got to a church I think.
Gotta be those old-school white clapboard center tower New England churches.
In case no one has said it lately, I really appreciate the quality and variety of the music you use for your timelapses!
In the US, idk about Europe, some colleges and universities have K-12 affiliate programs. So the elementary and high school could be part of the university. They could have been built with charity by the Cole family.

Very very nice build !
For the elevated passage, clearly the less wacky solution is the best.
The wackier the better!
I always appreciate wacky ideas in a build but I do agree the pedestrian tunnel works more
My Idea for Bay road would be that, Bay road changed over the time to Bay row through local pronociation and is now called Bayrow street.
Also it could sybolise the highrise downtown buildings on this road
You could also place some trucks or trailers as props in the industrial districts. As a City in the US it would fit perfectly
I know you want to make downtown as dense as possible, but maybe you will find a place for very old European style buildings there? If this is the capital, then I guess it was founded by Dutch or English settlers. A tile or two of old buildings at the waterfront would give this city such a nice vibe in my opinion.
Let's see what we can fit there! I have on purpose reserved most of the really beautiful medium-density lvl 5's for downtown already :-)
Stick with the pedestrian brudge, but also add paths down to the doors so you end up with people using it. It would be cool to see students walking across it.
Some ideas for road names:
- Jungmann Street: named after Karl Jungmann, German immigrant that developed a railway industry in the region

From a Chicagoan person, i personally love that you named the park Oak Park because there's a huge village in the western suburbs named Oak Park
What ever happened to riverview? Miss that place and there is plenty of suburban expansion to do south of the airport. Love this series though.
You could call bay road (formerly Lilac Road) "Isaac Lilac Road", named after an (invented) early colonialist who was among the founders of Fort John

In certain areas of New England they ship liquid natural gas (LNG) via sea/rivers (aquidneck area) - maybe your oil area could be similar to this
Name Lowplain "Skinner's Marsh" for the marshy land originally owned by the Skinner family and which first developed as the slaughterhouse district.
Re: pedestrian bridge. Take a look at the "van Nelle Fabriek" in Rotterdam, it might inspire you :)
Great work as always! Would love to see some kind of sports arena in the downtown area, could either be a college or pro basketball/ice hockey team 💪
I think the pedestrian bridge works better than the train car. Love the creativity though :D
INFRA ik im late but you need to add an airport across from bays end. That would make Fort John be the perfect boston replica!
some opera house or concert hall on the coast like in sydney will look good i think… (special commercial building of shopping mall can look like that) PS great video as always ;))
I suggest you place an urban elementary school with the extension across from Oak Park to serve Winter and part of Downtown.
You know, I really wasn't convinced with the train car idea but I gotta say, I think it looks better than the covered path 😂
'Bayside Boulevarde' sounds nice, imo.
Amazing episode. Can't wait for downtown. Though I wonder why no one would pick up trash from the music school 🤔
If I recall, it might be slightly bugged, as that has always been an issue for me with that particular asset. And thanks!
Yeah it’s a bug with that asset
That asset produces too much trash as soon as its picked up its already full again!
I love both of the skybridges! I think you should keep the both of them 😅 this city is so beautiful I want to move there!!!!
good sir can you add more gas stations the people crave them
what is the name of the MOD where he can pick out the buildings individually??
"Find It", and to place them without zoning underneath you need "Plop the Growables"
i like the train car as a walking bridge!
Honestly, Bay Road is a pretty solid name found just about anywhere with a bay in the US :P
Keep the train skybridge! It looks great, and a fun easter egg
The train carriage doesn't look as good as the pedestrian bridge in my opinion
Does CS2 follow the same education mechanics as CS1? Because if i remember correctly, when you place a bunch of housing, they all move in as needing elementary schooling, and will eventually become educated as time progresses, which lessens the strain on elementary schools, and moves the bubble up. Eventually, they will either graduate and move into the workforce or seek higher education. So all that strain on your school system will solve itself given time? Also, if you are seeking an industry focused area, having less education wouldnt necessarily be a bad thing, due to industry requiring less education than higher tech offices and businesses.
I’m wondering ,when will riverview will come back ? 😢
With sub districts can you also do meta districts? It would be interesting to see the statistics for Fort John, Chowder Bay and the other settlements.
Well... to be honest, I didn't like that super modern office stuck together with the old-style college.
Coleridge College
Totally simple name for our Danish friend to pronounce 😅
I love the channel. But i really think the train is goofy. Doesnt look ok. I appreciate the hard work!
Are you planning on putting in an actual functional shipping dock? Seems kind of funny that you have a whole bunch of wharfs and docks and coastal industry but none that ships can actually dock to.
Great Video!
I recommend changing the name of Winter to Dimmick Point, after Major Joseph Dimmick, a militia commander in Cape Cod during the Revolutionary War.
Nice expansion Infra! For those medians where you don't want turns but it leaves a gap: maybe try using _Traffic_ on the node and remove the "unsafe" turns since those are probably still in play and thus the median has the gap.
You should but a fence or railing up on the ledges on the sidewalk up top and the back of the houses up top 27:48
I love these videos cant wait for another one,
Could you please tell me what lumina settings are you using?
As a suggestion, you should leave the college as no connection, its normal and common for inner city colleges to have multiple buildings not connected
Education idea: Combine the elementary school, high school and college into William H. Cole Education Center
I think you should call Bay Road "The Promenade"
Bay Road would be cool as Bayfront Expressway 🎉
When is riverview coming back? Anyway really nice vid as always ❤️
