Quite impressed by how organized and smooth you presented this. I can't talk for long without stumbling on my words and screwing up what I'm saying and kinda drifting off. So I find your presentation quite nice. I was kind of waiting for you to tell us the recipe for your media but now I realize you're trying to sell your media. Understandable. Anyhow, thank you, very informative.
A culture of mine is doing something I wasn't expecting. The flies seem lethargic. I am feeding them to praying mantids and a surprising number of mantids are dying. Could the 2 problems be related?
Your fly room is bigger than most frog rooms. Quite the production you have going. Great video.
How does this room smell? 😁

Thanks, I've just had a few die-offs and I noticed how the larvae kept coming up onto the underside of the lid. Now I know was happening.
Has anyone told you that you look like Mr. Beast?
WOW!

how many cultures can you start with one freshly boomed out culture?
1-20 on average usually depending on the strain of fruit fly, production level, and number of flies you seed with.
paper plates?! I'm intrigued because excelsior is quite messy. Any specific kind of plate that is appropriate/inappropriate?
Just cheap paper plates from Walmart
I use used TP rolls.
They're free and easier to deal with than excelsior.
Coffee filters are good also.
