Thank you so much for commenting and huge apologies for missing your comment and not replying sooner. A really good show. I will definitely be going again when visiting the tURNER Prize in a couple of weeks.
That you for watching. I am glad you enjoyed the show. I really struggled with who to include for this exhibition because there were so many artists on show.
I have already my ticket booked for this exhibition and can't literally wait! I will be in London at the end of this month, I will surely visit other museums/ exhibitions but I have a feeling that this will take me the most to visit. As Italian, thanks for the nod to our Artemisia ❤.
Thank you for watching and I really hope you enjoy both he visit to London and the exhibition. Give a good couple of hours. Artemisia was an absolute highlight. Huge apologies for not replying sooner.
My wife and I will be in London in October we are hoping to see this.. Question, is there some sort on-line art event aggregator for London available? We're trying to plan ahead for this excursion... We like your postings. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for watching and that is a good question. For shows across lots of (mainly private) galleries I find the London section of Galleries Now - www.galleriesnow.net - invaluable. Time Out (an old listings magazine but now just online) covers the bigger privates and all public galleries.. www.timeout.com/london/art The Art Fund is good for blockbuster listings www.artfund.org/explore/get-inspired/features/best-exhibitions-in-london-open-now If you message me on e-mail nearer to when you arrive, I can certainly give you a run down. The epic sounding Van Gogh show will be open by October at The National Gallery - www.nationalgallery.org.uk/exhibitions/van-gogh-poets-and-lovers I can't wait for that one!
What an amazing and revelatory collection. as an older person, I recall growing up (in a city on the edge of antipodean civilization) really believing only men were artists so never pursued my passion, that seemed to be an aberration I was cursed with.
I am really sorry to hear that. It makes me very sad to think about the potentially great artists we can never experience because they felt the same barriers that you did and didn't create. This exhibition reminded me, as well, that there was not one straight trajectory. I didn't get it across in the review but there were times in the past when it was easier than it became. BTW, I am looking forward to the first ever big show in the UK by Australian artist Emily Kam Kngwarray at Tate Modern next year (Summer 2025). Is she an artist you know much about? I need to get reading and researching because my knowledge is zero.
Wonderful commentary! I saw this show when I was visiting from Sydney, Australia, back in early May. When I got to the end of the show I went back to the beginning to revisit the highlights, and like you, Gentileschi's, Self-Portrait was a favourite as was Maria Cosway's startling portrait of the The Duchess of Devonshire as Cynthia.
Great show to review 💥 Am I the only one who thinks so? The music that you score to the videos is flawless 99% of the time (I think you missed on the Ohlen vid)… it really engages me with the subjects you present. Panning the camera over lengthy wall text sort of works but only brilliant people read that fast. 😂 The Good, The Bad and The Beautiful 👌🍿
Thank you for the comments re the music - it is so hard when limited by copyright. I will certainly slow down the panning if I try that again - thank you, as always, for watching and for the feedback.
As usual, I thought your video on this exhibition was excellent. Just a little point of interest there is currently at the Philip Mould Gallery in the West End a free exhibition of a number of paintings by Mary Beale. I found it really interesting and the gallery believe their building is cited where Mary Beale lived! Also in this same gallery is the new red portrait of King Charles by Jonathan Yeo which is certainly worth looking at.
Thank you very much for watching and for the tip - I see that the Mary Beale show is on until the 19th of July so I will have to see if I can squeeze in a visit (probably without the camera!) I'd missed that.
Excellent presentation and music. Thanks.

I also saw this show and really enjoyed it. I noticed your vlog didn't include Mary Delany or Mary Linwood, but I thought their work was very good.
