So according to the post he has to have that charge move dragon ascent. That's a flying move (despite its name), so if you have to teach him that in order to mega evolve him, then you'll likely be overriding an existing charge move. That means if you want him to have a dragon type charge move in addition to dragon ascent, you'll have to spend 100k dust and 100 candy to double move him. Hoping some of the content creators mention this.
@EddieTheWiz I mean yeah that's cool. I'm not worried about the dust or candy, personally, as I've raided more of these than I'd like to admit lol. But for the casual player, that's a steep price to pay.

In PvP for Pokémon Go, Rayaquaza uses the moveset Dragon Tail as the fast move and Breaking Swipe and Hurricane as the charge moves. As currently implemented, Rayaquaza has to use 8 dragon tails without using energy to reach Hurricane which it usually struggles to reach because of how long that takes. If Niantic, were to implement Dragon's Ascent like how they have Close Combat implemented in the game it would much more energy efficient move for Ray to use in PVP Similar to Kommo-O who uses the same Dragon Tail fast move, has Dragon Claw which takes it 4 Dragon Tails to reach and Close Combat which takes it 5. Understand?
This is very exciting. I hope when Rayquaza evolves there is a line text that says “ it is (insert trainer name here) fervent wish that Rayquaza mega evolves”

Cool more items that won't work properly lol. Raids still have shadow hits, time you out with 5 or more seconds, gems don't always work for shadow raids to list some stuff lol idk why not keep mega energy for Ray too

I really hope Dragon Ascent is a signature quick move. Ray already has 2 legacy charge moves and I rather not have another Kyogre situation where the best moveset is all one type. I know lore-wise dragon ascent should be a dragon charge move clone of close combat but… can it be a quick move instead please
you'd run D.A and breaking swipe. hurricane is worse then D.A and swipe is WAY cheaper and faster vs outrage. so you'd have no reason to have any other moves. but since this just for a mega, you only need this moveset for that one mega. the other ray's you have can be whatever
dragon ascent is FLYING type move so you aren't getting Kyogre situation.. instead your mega kinda needs 2 charge moves if you also wanna use it as your dragon type attacker effectively
Will it be in the raids from the 26th-27th? Or just on the 27th. I'm doing a lot of raiding in hopes of getting a shundo from it. Also, what's a good place with a lot of gyms to do these raids? I'm in California. Thanks!
iirc so far primals and mega legendaries have only shown up during events.. maybe eventually they get a full week in rotation but i'd expect to see them for 1-3 days when they appear next time
Is the special research timed, or will it be once I start I can finish it in my own time? Because there is no way I'll be able to do the research in one day.
In my opinion, I prefer to battle team rocket by special research method, using super rocket radar find Giovanni and catch shadow legendary pokemon it was always guaranteed catches. Even though 0% shiny rate and may be you all got a lousy iv. This is suitable for rural and conventional players. Rather than by using tier 5 shadow legendary pokemon. Expensive method because buying raid pass. Shadow legendary raid battle harder than regular raid battle because it can enraged and need numbers of purify gem to subdue it. Catch rate was low just like you all always catch legendary pokemon after raid. Of course you got better iv but just a little bit better than you all caught after wins team rocket battle. Shiny legendary odds are same as always. Not every players always have convenient to raid. Rural players and places which had least players.
I'm excited for mega Rayquaza I probably won't ever be able to mega evolve it because it will probably be like Latios and Latias the only legendary pokemon I can mega evolve aka primal is Groudon aside from that I don't have any mega legendary pokemon so yes I'm excited will I get to mega evolve I'm going to go with no the reason I say this is because I probably will never have enough mega energy and quite honestly if the special research is anything like my current shiny Jirachi masterwork special research I most likely will struggle with completing it because I'm not seeing Kecleon very often and I need to catch 10 I'm currently at 3 so yeah I probably should start giving up at this point and shouldn't be excited for mega Rayquaza because I probably won't be able to mega evolve my Rayquaza ever so I probably won't waste my time on mega Rayquaza raids because knowing my luck I'll lose every Rayquaza I go to catch just like every Nihilego raid I've done

Flying is strong vs fighting bug grass and weak against rock steel electric. Which means a lot of Pokémon will be hit for a large amount of neutral damage. Several mons previously safe from Rayquazas charge attacks will have to factor in a 45 energy / 120 dmg move when shielding. Dragon claw / breaking swipe is 4 fast moves, close combat / dragon ascent only takes 5. Even if you resist flying type moves, that’s a lot of damage
@@menitianrebator3355 You're not wrong. There's a good chance that a Mega Rayquaza, even swinging for neutral damage, will have a higher output than a lot of super effective counters. That does offset it a bit. That said, you're still going to want dragon moves on a Mega Ray, so double moving them will be necessary.
The difference is probably negligible, but there's nothing like a hundo. You could also try lucky trading the shiny rayquaza with a friend if possible.

and also if you're running Breaking Swipe and/or Hurricane on Ray those are legacy moves, you may or may not want to get rid of those

Yeah, once you complete a mega Rayquaza raid you’ll get the chance to catch one.
