I don't know why this channel is so underrated, we are talking about the ancestors of computing and even artificial intelligence. This is not about some random historical curiosities, this is entirely human heritage, shouldn't be overlooked this way. Edgar Allan Poe stung me with the mysticism of automaton ; this channel goaded me into a universe of wonders akin to modern technology ,fine and raw artistry, artisanship and analog technology of a distant era. From this day onward, I will be an automatacel, an incel in love with automaton.
Guys, you are keepeng that purest magic that was survived after our greatest wars and damages. I am very happy you make your most important job for our next generations to explane how smart and harmonazed we was. Magic will come back and thanks to you both!
I'm just in complete awe and captivated! I have loved history since I was a little boy, and the objects connected with history. Ever since I was a little boy reading and seeing a couple of pictures of automatons that Marie Antonitte had commissioned to be like her individual royal subjects just fascinated me completely. They were so exquisite! They sold for A LOT at the auction block. It boggles my mind that the things automatons are able to do from eras when technology was extremely minimal. The meticulous craftsmanship! Also, again, they are so elegant reflecting a way of life that was once dazzling and glamorous that is long gone. You wonder, what were the individuals owned them were like? What was the environment that they were once displayed like, on and on. Thank you for a terrific video!
For years I’ve watched your videos during a time when finding anything automata was extremely rare. Being from the US, I’d imagine if traveling to the UK and I’d beg to be able to cleanup and do odd jobs around the shop just for the experience and opportunity to soak in the knowledge lol To see a full documentary would be the next best thing.
-I am so put off by dolls and the like. -I love the art of animation. you have bridged the gap and made me appreciate something I had an aversion to. I understand the magic you see a bit more now. You absolutely need the mind of an animator for this craft, and a master engineer as well- pretty remarkable works. Thank you for sharing
I was lucky as a child to grow up with access to many ‘Automata’. I didn’t respect them as I should have and I so wish I could turn back time and watch them come to life again. Thank you my friends you have brought back wonderful memories 😻.
Michael and Maria always seem to be smiling and very happy in their work the kind you'd enjoy being around socially . The skills they have are just a joy to watch as they bring these wonderful pieces back to the magic that had dimmed or lost over time
amazing film beautiful melancholy music , loved it when you came to edinburgh childhood museum ,is the little black boy trinket seller one of jack donavans hes very like him
The most Amazing vidéo about automate i have ever Seen. I have one singing bird in a cage (a Big model) and i don't know where i Can restore it (the mecanism and the bird) This IS my Dream to listen it once.... Warm regards
Amazing passion, I wouldn't call it work, its a labor of love. I love watching your videos. What type of paint do you use to restore the bird cages?? I want to restore my singing bird ( but don't want to mess it up)
Time to time i dreaming about a witch house. The witch opens the door slightly, peaking out, than clowe it. An owl or flaping and moving its head on a window up high. A cat tries to catch a mouse at the window. An automata house on a small island with willow trees in the middle of a lake

This is really beautiful. At times the music was too loud, you guys both have such soothing voices.

Thank you for sharing those incredible automata - the one with the musical heart is so beautifully sculpted. It would be worth making a replica.

Might I recommend the Timeline documentary posted recently on UA-cam on Automata. If you haven't yet come across it.
