    once upon a time (in 1962) I happened to walk down that street in my sergeants uniform. The parade was passing, and we had been instructed, that should we be where the parade was passing we had to front it and salute. I did, and the officer leading the armed detail returned my salute by lowering his sabre. I was so proud!

    Beautiful and impressive. The Royal Danish Life Guards have always seemed much more inspiring to me than their British counterparts. Even the uniform and equipment of the Danish Guards looks much more interesting and attractive than many other guard formations in Europe and around the world. The musical marching repertoire is also first rate in selection and execution. May their public appearances continue in the same spirit of preserving traditions. I imagine that not only Danish children, but everyone else at the sight of the Danish Guards, would think of Hans Christian Andersen's Brave Lead Soldier.

    Interestingly the piece played during the palace concert was a Swedish march (Göta Signal Regiment's March). Great video and fantastic series you have made! Are there any other trips planned in the future? Norway's and Sweden's guard mount with their respective bands would be a fantastic addition to this channel!

      Thank you very much for the comment. I am glad you have enjoyed this series of videos from my adventure to Copenhagen. My plan is to eventually go and experience as many ceremonies and bands across the world as I can manage and absolutely to include Sweden and Norway too - all the Scandinavian counties are at the top of my list to visit! In the mean time back to the streets of the UK when I can outside of work and when I have some more leave then of course I am hoping to create more videos like these featuring and highlighting the work of other military musicians around the world!

    The separate piccolo corps should be allowed to play along with the main band during the regular marches.

    • @MilitaryBandsEverywhere
      @MilitaryBandsEverywhere  7 місяців тому +2

      Not necessarily. They are not part of the band and a separate military unit. They also do not have lyres on them so all of their tunes are learnt by memory unlike e band who carries music on the march and therefore had a far wider repertoire. When the whole parade reached Amalienborg Palace there are a few joint items that they play together.

      It's a Danish national song kalled 'Den Danske Sang er en ung blond Pige'' (the Danish Song is a young blond girl). The composer is our great national symphonic composer Carl Nielsen.

      Just wait until the woke mob hears this, they will do everything they can to make sure poor Carl faces the music.
