    This is an absolutely terrific video of one of the Greatest Military Bands of the World! Thank you very much for sharing this excellent recording!

      Thank you for the comment! It’s been a delight filming them and getting to watch them live even if it did rain heavily for the 3 days during the parade!

    Great video Joe. A pleasure showing you our museum yesterday. We actually have three more military bands. One more in the Army called "Slesvigske Musikkorps" and one in the Air Force called "Prinsens Musikkorps". Both of these are like the band of the Royal Life Guards professional musicians. The Navy has "Søværnets Tambourkorps" which consists of regular soldiers.

      Our three other military bands have pure brassinstrumentation and percussion - so-called 'field bands'. It is a tradition that dates back to around 1850. Not to be confused with the British style brassbands. The instrumentation and style of playing is completely different. Two of them consist of professional permanent employed musicians. The musicians in the Navy Band are in fact not regular soldiers. They are professional musicians, but employed on a contract - i.e. not permanent employees.

      @@mgaws wrong. there are several amateur players in the navy band, some of them are from the academy but still. there are people from the amateur bands that are employed there.

      "Søværnets Tambourkorps" is by far the most entertaining tho.

      A military band is more than a brass band, having woodwinds, which can also play string parts, as a symphony orchestra on the march.

    A great video. I love this videos. It is interesting and fascinating to see this. I have seen a lot of videos from changing the guards at Buckingham Palace and Troping the colour. Greetings from Diö in Sweden.

    Great video. Always fascinated by Den Kongelige Livgardes but information on them is hard to come by online (in English anyway).

      Thank you, it has been an interesting weekend spent with them, learning about their heritages and traditions to hopefully make them more accessible in English through my page and spread awareness of what they do!

    2:10 why the officer saluted to left side?

    • @andreasjorgensen8597
      @andreasjorgensen8597 2 роки тому +10

      The person in orange in civilian clothes was standing at attention saluting the parade, the officer returns it with a salute. Usually it is current or no longer serving members of the regiment of any rank.

      The Drum Major and officers are very observant for civilians 'greeting' the parade (standing at attention and with a slight bow). They will usually get a salute from the parade.

      once i was in uniform when the pade passed. We had been instucted to front the parade and salute. I did, and the officer leading the guard detail lowered his sabre. I was so proud!!

    Does anyone have any clue what the march right at the start is called? Played as they are leaving the barracks' gate?

      The Thunder’s Tail.
      Sadly I have been unsuccessful in finding any other recordings of this march but was reliably informed by the band that this was the march they played at my time of visit.
