      I'm so confused why modes are harder than scales..... Especially since your not actually playing them across keys in the example .

    • @alexandrevalente9994
      @alexandrevalente9994 10 місяців тому +1

      @@antomcmanus1775 hi, what is confusing? A scale is a succession of notes. The mode is how this succession must be. Read the modes in C major, then it's enough to transpose. This is true for a lot of instruments.

    Ok, so as an advanced pianist, in addition to saying that Jonny's videos that I've seen so far are awesome, someone needs to say that this guy has beautiful hands, fingernails, and rings. What a pleasure to watch and to listen to!

    • @alexandrevalente9994
      @alexandrevalente9994 10 місяців тому

      What I do for learning modes is to focus on C major and then simply put this: it is playing Cmajor scale but shifting the root. As an example, consider Dminor,it is the second chord of CMajor ... we start to play over Cmajor scale but shifting the root to D... this is called D Dorian but in fact it is simply C major starting from D. From there you apply this to every chord of the C Major and then you cross all the modes. It is simplistic but at the end... this is what it is. Of course... the art is to make good music with that and that is another piece! This course is amazing.

    • @alexandrevalente9994
      @alexandrevalente9994 10 місяців тому

      What I like in yur way of teaching is that the exercises are funny and sound good. This make your course funny while being very good. This way of teaching opens to different ways to learn scales and phrasing. You are very creative and give me ideas on how to practice them differently on a guitar too.
