That's a great idea turning that plot into a small duck haven Kap. Once they get in there, you,lol be set! That looks to be a perfect spot, the water should hold pretty well once its full. Rice and millet should thrive in there. Good work. Matt
Thanks Grady, looking forward to it... Although with it being new and shiny and all I might be a little hesitant to go ripping at trees!!! Naw, I'll still dive right in! That's why I got the warranty!
So far I have flooded the larger of the two and put a few decoys out but haven't seen any activity just yet. However, the northern birds are not even down here yet so I'll be watching it here over the next month and a half
Kapper Outdoors where you at? I’m in Louisiana and we’re just now getting birds. I made a 5 acre plot. I planted it with Millet and then flooded it. Nothing so far.
I'm at the Southern IL tip, not much farther north than Paducah, KY. Just starting to see northern birds in flooded fields around here (not in mind yet! lol) Time to flood the 2nd one !!!
I'm new to your UA-cam channel only a bout a month can't believe you bought a mini with out a thumb I have a Takeuchi to 235 with one so much more versatile with thumb
Ah man..... No, you've got to watch some more videos! LOL. (if you follow the whole Bobcat series from the start you'd see) MY NEW UNIT WILL HAVE A THUMB. I actually chose this rental without the thumb and a smaller machine so that I can work on the fine skills. It is slightly under powered and I have to manually move everything without a thumb!! Rest assured though when the new unit arrives it WILL have a thumb! Thanks :)
You're gonna need a bigger bucket. Should have bought an older good shape dozer and after you were done with the major stuff traded it in on the mini. My dad just bought a 68 cat951b and man until you run a 28,000# dozer you have no idea that things can be done so quickly
yeah i hear you. Learning that pretty quick! Although I can borrow or rent a dozer, which I might consider doing at some point. My new Bobcat will have a 36" bucket, so it will be about 50% larger than the 24 inch I'm using now.
Wish we were neighbors or you even lived closer. Think you and I would get along great. We both have and love playing with big boy toys good luck on the ducks next year
Love watching all your Videos!!! It's my dream someday to do exactly what you are doing. Can't wait to see more Duck hunting impoundment videos. Keep it up man
Not trying to be rude but I learned a hard lesson 10 year's ago hired a guy to build three ponds for ducks within 3 years all lost since I hired a real pro he showed up with real equipment did it rite no more over flow pipes blowing out and water going over top of dams and collapsing the money wasted the first time could have had larger ponds or even a lake
Yeah, I'm learning that! I can always borrow, rent or hire one, but honestly i want to get a feel for how big of a job it is doing something like this because I'm sure I'll be doing more of these... (but probably with a dozer in the mix :). However, it is good practice to do one on such an elevation change so that when i do one on flatter ground it should be much easier.
I se you ned more power and a bigger bucket, great progress in tuning the EX. Great movie, waiting for every new one, keep up the good work. Best from Rune Norway
Yeah, you could say that. I told you guys that I would show you the whole process of learning this thing, and then doing some real projects, so there it is! Something I've learned ! LOL
Watching you operate the machines like watching freaking grass grow
yeah that was back in the day when I was just learning the excavator. Much faster now...
Is there a video of the finished product?

Look how much better you are already. Need to get a flat bottom bucket aka a ditching bucket.
Yes sir, got one coming with the new unit. 24", 36" and 52" ditch bucket :)

I'm pretty pumped, i just have to build it right!
Getting pretty good with that mini. Much improvement Kap. Should be a pro by the time you receive the E42.... Good work partner
Thanks Grady, looking forward to it... Although with it being new and shiny and all I might be a little hesitant to go ripping at trees!!! Naw, I'll still dive right in! That's why I got the warranty!
How did it turn out? Any birds?
So far I have flooded the larger of the two and put a few decoys out but haven't seen any activity just yet. However, the northern birds are not even down here yet so I'll be watching it here over the next month and a half

Kapper Outdoors I know the struggle. Keep me updated lol
Just saying a small dozer might have been a little faster and cheaper
Well, there is a video up of me trying to hire a small dozer, and it really didn't do jack, just too much dirt to move..
I'm new to your UA-cam channel only a bout a month can't believe you bought a mini with out a thumb I have a Takeuchi to 235 with one so much more versatile with thumb

Looks great, but be careful about digging in a wetland without a permit.
Thats the beautiful part, none of our property is in wetland!! I've been there before!!
Don't ya love the smell of fresh dirt? There's something about it..
Yeah, there sure is..:)
Love watching all your Videos!!! It's my dream someday to do exactly what you are doing. Can't wait to see more Duck hunting impoundment videos. Keep it up man
Thanks man, I appreciate it.
You should go into business selling clay, Kapper!
I should! Only problem is its everywhere down here, lol!
Kapper Outdoors In New England the soil isn't much cleaner. We have a lot of rocks mixed in.
what do you do for a living?

A dozer would be more suitable to cut the high end. There is a lot of yardage there
Yeah, I'm learning that! I can always borrow, rent or hire one, but honestly i want to get a feel for how big of a job it is doing something like this because I'm sure I'll be doing more of these... When do you get your new machine?
Mid February!
I se you ned more power and a bigger bucket, great progress in tuning the EX.
Great movie, waiting for every new one, keep up the good work.

Thank you! I appreciate it. Plus I'm having some fun to be sure... :)
Did you do that boom spin / push at 3 minutes just to show us your skills are improving? LOL Good work man, you're coming along nicely!
Yeah, you could say that. I told you guys that I would show you the whole process of learning this thing, and then doing some real projects, so there it is! Something I've learned ! LOL
Digging a ditch because your ditch maniac. LOL go boy go. LOL
Heck yeah! I've been called much worse! :)
LOL not by me.
Looks like all you did was make a mess and waste time and fuel
You got it
