I keep hearing people say Siri needs to beat ChatGPT. It doesn’t. Siri just needs to be strongly agentic in a way that is cohesive with the ecosystem. Apple would have no moat if they tried to compete with a ~2 trillion parameter model by focusing on local LLMs. You can’t even fit an unquantized 7 billion parameter model on your iPhone. Apple will likely work on making Siri contextually aware and useful by making it able to do more tasks for you - not by making a model that is generally smart. If you want that service, OpenAI already has an app.
But that’s not AI then!- needs to make Siri Ai for several reasons,one because they are clearly behind but two,By making Siri AI then make it less likely to fall behind in the future like it has now. Now I agree that it doesn’t need to be in a text message format like ChatGPT.However it should be a combination of features from areas like Dall e,Sora and ChatGPT ect!
@@RaghavVijay … agentic LLMs and ML pipelines aren’t AI? It’s literally quintessential AI. Agentic AI just that it’s an AI that can do tasks as an agent. I think you misunderstood what I was saying. Siri is technically AI as is, just narrow AI. All I’m saying is that Siri’s future capabilities are unlikely to be in general knowledge built into neural networks, the hardware isn’t there to run it locally and Apple will certainly try their best to keep everything local and private. That’s why Siri will probably focus on doing what no virtual assistant or LLM has done before in a consistent way: do tasks on the user’s behalf. They’ll likely bring in a 3rd party model that is sufficiently big running in the cloud to be used for general conversational intelligence. There just isn’t enough room for enough parameters to create a local model that has strong reasoning capabilities at the current moment. It’s also unlikely that Apple has solved that, but I reserve judgment in that regard until WWDC

Also yes doing tasks on users behalf is what Siri should have done so far,but it seems that AI is what’s actually going to allow that to happen in real life.

I agree that Apple should have that component too, but if they don’t - we have the Google app for Gemini and ChatGPT app. I hope they focus on bringing many small llms into places where it’s not just textboxes. You might not get GPT4 levels of reasoning, but you’ll get something more useful. Imagine this conversation with Siri.

“Sure is that all?”

They probably going to turn it into cloud service. There's no way to fit an entire LLM into a tiny phone expecting it to rum smoothly in a small device with weak gpu. Or they might use a model with very small sized LLM. The model is likely to be schizophrenic though.

YEEEEAH somebody I like to watch on UA-cam has also seen Severance. Such a hugely unknown and underrated show. I love it. The funny thing is when I went my last year to school, I did a presentation about it and got an A for it which was also like 90 percent of my total grade in that class.

It’s… essentially meaningless. First you’d have to install a completely untrusted app, then you’d have to open it and let it run uninterrupted for 12 hours straight in the foreground. If it gets interrupted, it starts from scratch and it would take an additional 12 hours. Yes, closing your Mac or putting it to sleep resets it. At that point, it can be sussed out for its activity and removed. Literally “if any program is running uninterrupted for 8 hours, flag it and check if it’s the virus”. While technically unpatchable it’s HIGHLY unlikely that it would be a chosen attack vector

Because the innovation is not that, when you put the already existing technology inside the phone.. you know that the 120Hz monitors existed, they just cutted it smaller 6" instead of 22".. if you use it on the same way like before, where is the innovation? Apple was able to gain 2 hours of battery time instead of losing 2 hours because of they combined it with software experience.. sorry but that is the innovation, even those who used the beta version of 120Hz for 5 years throwed away their "innovation" and brainlessly copied the true innovation... same for the 200MP camera lens, if you still just shoot 12MP images with that, that is kinda noob.. Apple already have 24MP default images (so better quality when you zoom in the image), and they was the one who just recently improved the 12MP lens to 48MP..
For you the innovation is that if anybody brainlessly put every more expensive parts inside the phone and use it on the same way like before, but for the majority is the innovation is that when you combine the better hardware with software, and the result together give you something new.
By the way if Apple is not innovative, why the others needed 4 years just to copy the already existing technology? (And still no real products in the shop in 2024 to compete the chip from 2020, just rumors and promises about the chip..) this is when you not just put the more powerfull hardware inside and use about 5-10% of their capability..
So can you tell us, why nobody use the great and mighty 120Hz what Android used for 5 yearsn after Apple showed their idea about the 120Hz? Because Apple was more innovative..?

I truly don’t think 2.0 will arrive at WWDC. Look at the wording. It specifically says new versions of iOS, macOS, etc…but when referring to visionOS, it says “latest updates” I think maybe just some more first party apps, and maybe a couple new features in a solid 1.5 update.
6:59 Maybe Apple could use the iris scanner to unlock your iPhone if it sees the Vision Pro through the cameras and it is in close enough range to your Vision Pro and not somebody else’s if there’s someone else with one. This could initiate a pop up within the Vision Pro asking you to confirm it is you trying to unlock your phone then proceed to use the iris scanner to unlock.
