Я, смотрю и каждый раз - охреневаю! Большое сомнение что полуось проходит хоть сколько то, тем более в их условиях, но они такую хрень выделывают - постоянно!!! значит работает!

the guy on the lathe needs his own channel! I've seen him in soo many videos now and they are uploaded by different channels too, he's everywhere!! This man surely knows what he is doing, some of the stuff I've seen him repair would never have been done anywhere, it would have been thrown out for scrap! Great job as usual, can't wait to see more of his repairs.

It looks fine on the surface, but the welded area has a lot of small bubbles, which makes it very vulnerable to strong torque. In the end, it is certain that greater vehicle risk and loss will occur.

That a Starret, Brown and Sharp or Mitutoyo dial indicator he's adjusting runout with? As for repair job, thinking if the axle broke when forged from a single piece I doubt some welding and hiding the scars is going to hold up. Might get ya home though.

There are so many good welding channels. Watch Abom79 for example. This guy can weld but what he is welding on is highly questionable welding practice.

There’s a reason people swap parts out. Has no bearing on whether they can “repair” things. As a mechanic of 20 years, I can rig something up to make it work, but it’s generally not as strong as something machined and had quality control look into it.

This repair will not last very long, the heat treated original axle lost its strength after welding. It will fail due to being brittle and break at the repair point.😳👎🇦🇺
They don't care coz they gonna sell it to someone and make money. Not gonna use for themself so doesn't matter if breaks

The surface imperfections at the edge of the finish weld are the initiating point of the next failure. The heat affected zone of the weld will form the crystallization structure for the fracture to propagate along. So he has the alignment aspect good, just needs to turn the surface smooth, heat treat for spring performance, then polish. The shaft is shorter, he could have weld built up the centre of the spike end to maintain the length but maybe he did. Most likely the shaft broke due to overloading, this repair isn't as tough as original so this process is bound to repeat.

On a long shaft, that allows for a surprising amount of torsional “flex” that’ll soften/absorb some torque, this repair might last awhile even though the original heat treat is cooked out, if driven very smoothly.
