What’s the friction like, I’m looking into this because I skate around my neighbor hood where there’s some roads that are kinda rough, the main problem isn’t necessarily hitting a crack any getting thrown off but skating on asphalt at the slightest incline or even sometimes where the grounds level I lose speed very easily and am constantly pushing off, I can either walk or feel like I’m running with one wheel on the board
LilCobain Put your foot in the middle of the board while pushing over the crack. I do this all the time on my penny board and I’ve never had to get off.
Just a quick head's up, the OJ super juice are 78a duro, they do have 87a wheels though, their Keyframe series which are primarily marketed as street/filmer board wheels.
@@aurelia3606”the wheels he is using in the video are very soft (therefor, meant for cruising, not tricks). However they also make another series of wheels which are harder, and more suited for street skating and tricks”
They actually made a super juice in 87a but they are impossible to find I think they only made a few for some online skate shop. I found a wheel I like much better on rough ground and I live in the Appalachian Mountains of VA so I know what ruff is and big soft 60mm wheels are a must. Spitfire 80hd is the best I have found I have some old santa cruz cruiser wheels a set of super juice and hot juice and the dragon rat bones the spitfires smoke all of them. they are just a tad rougher riding but barely noticeable but what I have noticed is they roll just as fast as the juices but hold the speed significantly longer.

I started skating almost a month ago and i have no skateparks in my area, so i just practice on my crusty roads, parking lots and sidewalks. I quickly learned that i hate hard wheels and highly prefer larger, softer wheels. I'm not doing tricks yet so i'm sure it will change as I know that flip tricks and grinds especially work better or only with hard wheels. Theyre just wayyy too slow for what im doing ( getting comfortable riding regular and switch, turning, kickturning, riding off curbs, basic shtt)

OJ wheels are so buttery smooth man they're smoother than most longboard wheels! I have a board with OJ 55 mm juice 78A wheels and they're so fast and comfy to ride on a bumpy street with. And you went to champs, hahaha nice.
Bigger diameter wheels equate to higher rollspeed, hence why it's not uncommon for downhill setups to use 72/76/80 mm wheels. Lower duro gives you more grip (and more vibration dampening, though that's not important for downhill) but they tend to have slightly worse acceleration. To be fair though, those cruiser wheels you got actually have quite a high duro

Great video John! I've got a longboard cruiser with OJ Thunder Juice (75mm) wheels and its rolls really nicely (using Bronson G3 bearings). There's pros & cons... The larger diameter means that pavement cracks, pebbles, small twigs and coarse surface are tolerated fairly well, so that's a big plus. But the board is higher off the ground and the clearance between the wheel & deck is closer than a smaller diameter wheel, so I put on some thick rubber riser pads to avoid 'wheelbite' (and to cushion the ride), but the deck seems high. For downhill rides, there's no issue with the deck height. But as there's no perfect board that does it all, so I'm going to put together a popsicle board (I had a spare deck laying around unused) and fit the smaller OJ 55mm Mini Hot Juice wheels, and run without riser pads, so I've got a board for low speed casual transportation that's a bit more manoeuvrable & agile than the longboard cruiser. Anyway, time to order some trucks & the wheels and piece it together ... hopefully it'll be a no regrets build, as I'm taking a punt on whether the 55mm wheels would be a tad too small. Maybe the 60mm wheels could be the better choice... decisions, decisions.
