Wonderful video my friend, great work..Bluebell line you mentioned towards the end, that`s the historic railway in Kent/Sussex? Back to Serbia, what a delightful gem this place is...
When l was little we would go on a steam train called Puffing Billy in the Dandenongs it was exactly like this experience and probably as old!! The Autumn colours are nature at its finest and a perfectly clear day to make it picture postcard! Loved every minute of this train journey glad you did it for us so thankyou. Don't forget to fall back those clocks 1hr hun😉
@@davidostrowski679 The only (ok, not only) difference is that Kusturica is world-famous and also a good friend of Putin ;) He also designed and built Kamengrad (Stone City) a.k.a. Andrićgrad (dedicated to our only Nobel prize winner), some miles away on the Drina river. Both places were envisioned by him as cultural centers and vaults of Serbian art and history, and he got plentiful support from the Serbian government. Also, another of his accomplished goals was to revive the Shargan Eight railway, an idea taken from the prophecies of our most famous prophets, the Tarabićs.
There are so many awesome railways in the world! I'm hoping to incorporate some of them into my travels in the next couple of years. I love flying, but most flights feel identical. Train journeys all feel unique. Beautiful film as always David!
Awesome! You are awesome presenter, producer, montages etc. David that was Emir Kusturica himself, he just went past you when you just entered the Wooden City.. cheers, well put together.. my Sebia Duki from Sydney
"Šargan eight was designed and built, as an attractive and practical example of mastering the major altitude changes on short tracks.A descent of 300 m (980 ft) was surmounted with the tracks which curve in the shape of 8, hence the name. The track is 15.44 km (9.59 mi) long and due to the curvature, on some sections the train passes twice through the same points."
Man, would love to see your vlog about Krusevac, was born in the city, now living in Chicago, haven't been for good 8 years! Also it was capital of Serbia in medieval time so there are ruins of the old Fortress city of Prince Lazar and Lazarica Church from 1378, interesting stuff to see by the way as being renovated a lot also recently.
Don't worry brate, it's coming in a few videos time! There are 2 videos before then but in real-time I'll be there this Saturday! I've heard a lot of good things!
I didn't have time for anything else unfortunately, the bus back to Užice was 40 mins after I got off the train and I was only there 1 night. Filming adds 3x the time!

That's the one! I swear it had tiny trains too which you could sit on but I might've been hallucinating back in 1987

Actually Drvengrad/Kustendorf is historical, Kusturica had those mountain houses transported to Mokra Gora from original sites
interesting! I still need to watch that movie!
