He did say that Locks only do slightly less damage than mages. I can remember my old fire mage doing really sick damage. It was a proper 'glass cannon'. That got hit by The Nerf Bat Of Mediocrity some time around Cataclysm or thereafter.
Purple _X you are correct, as destro locks do have a lot of burst. But for this video i wanted to keep it simple for new players. Since for leveling and raiding and some pvp locks will mostly be dotting
Thank you for making this. I played mage for the first time at max lvl in TBC and early levels in late Vanilla ( never hit 60 ) currently BFA mage again but as much as I like mage I want something different, Warlock seems to fit me better this time around! Lots of naysayers perhaps but I'll manage just fine.
I played WoW from 2006-2008 and never hit level 60 on any character and my highest was level 45 or something I believe. For some reason I just get burnt out after level 30 and hate the zones. Then again, not really interested in raiding and only marginally interested in pvp so it's not a big deal. Mainly played WoW so I could explore areas from the Warcraft games in more detail.
I mained a Warlock at release before 1.12 and my god it was terrible. The patch fixed the dps but I think many people will be surprised by how much better the mage really is in vanilla. Early game without + to hit gear your brought to raids for soul stone and banish. That's about it. No one expects you to do any meaningful dps in the early days because honestly you will be terrible. I know there are 100+ (insert l337 private server Warlock dps here) videos but trust me when I say for the majority of players out there you will be much happier (and easier dungeon groups too) playing a mage. Remember there is no group finder in classic and verse a mage your going to have to spam a lot trying to find dungeon group spots.
SM/Ruin. almost no way to counter a frost mage. that decurse/poly spam plus counterspell shuts us down. Frost nova our pet and it's gg. Frost is the meta.
@@davidleon4338 fireblast nova coc arcane explosion ice block. Shadow reflector cold snap nova coc arcane explosion fireblast. 2nd ice block if needed. GG mage wins, 0 counterplay available for the warlock. Works if warlock is not soul link (then they have enough hp and damage mitigation to make that strat not work).

@@Ralin yes, locks will be dotting especially for raiding with that 16 debuff slots...
@@HKRazieL Lmao, yeah, all locks are allowed to do is their assigned curse, to increase the damage of mages, and they can shadowbolt. That's it.
