      Me as well. My Grandfather ordered me a new set of R.G. Hardie ivory mounted pipes from Scotland in 1961 when I was a young piper 10 years of age (New Brunswick, Canada).

    I have a set of Hardie made Henderson's that I purchased about ten years ago, they sound fantastic, I'm so glad I shopped around before buying because I made the right decision. They're worth more now than when I bought them, but I wouldn't sell them, they really are great.

    I have a set of PH1's celtic which are a stunning set of pipes. Alestair Dunn dhas done a wonderful job on redesigning the chanter also. These are by far the best pipes I've ever owned. my setup (drones) either a cane bass (Lumsden) or an Omega bass and Canning tennors. Have a Troy-McAllistar chanter reed and a Gannaway tied in bag. At any given time,I can depend on these pipes to be ready. The crew at RGH is a delight to deal with. A' thu best

    Such a great name in the pipes and drumming world 🌎 ❤ went to buy an old set of pipes from a 2nd hand shop they were ivory very yellow and tarnished the lady who owned the shop said I think the elephant must have been a smoker I agreed she knocked £240 of the price 😉 😀

    This is a different bass drone sound than I remember from the Hardies of my teens in the 60's. Very interesting. I remember the very finger-friendly Hardie chanters of the early 70's, and once epoxied shut all the holes of a broken one to redrill it for A-440 to play with folk band and symphony orchestra before A440 chanters were commercially available. I'm now an uilleann pipe maker but still play GHP; I'll look for a set of new Hardie drones to try. I still use Airtight too!

    • @1979cl1
      @1979cl1 5 років тому

      I don't where you're from but i'm from the USA and I have a RG Hardie's pipes bought back in 2002,, back then it cost me about $800 which wasn't too expensive but now they're worth more over a thousand dollars or more.

      @@1979cl1 I'm from Canada, so they would probably be around $900-$1000. That's a pretty good price for pipes.

    • @1979cl1
      @1979cl1 5 років тому +1

      @@cameronjodoin309 Yes, at that time prices were good for pipes and it was around that price range but i bought it from The Ford Company here in Fullerton California by scotsman Charlie Ford who sold scottish goods at good prices and affordable, My pipes were actualy $700 but bought along a pipe carrying case which was another $100 so the total was $800, so you might say i came to know the right business man for the good price.

      Don’t be tempted to buy a set from eBay for that amount because they’ll have been made in Pakistan and the wood is far too soft, and untunable. They’re painted black to look like African black wood. They’re just bagpipe-shaped fire wood.
