Ohio Senator J.D. Vance is preparing to make his first speech Wednesday at the Republican National Convention after being tapped by Donald Trump to be his running mate. On Tuesday, ProPublica published a newly uncovered speech Vance made a year before he was elected to the Senate in which he said “the devil is real,” praised conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, denigrated transgender people and more. We speak with reporter Andy Kroll, who says the video “gives this unvarnished look into what J.D. Vance believes and into what he says to an audience of his peers.” Kroll also responds to President Biden’s proposed Supreme Court reforms, sparked in part by ProPublica’s reporting on ethical violations committed by sitting justices.

I agree that trumpists are cultists. But I think liberals are too. As far as I can tell, the lone wolf theory is a lie. The reason it seems like a lie is that they were saying it was a lone wolf immediately when there is no way they could have known that. Also, they said shooter down when trump was still on stage. But there is no way they could have known there wasn’t another shooter at that time. The fact that they apparently did know there was no other shooters, within seconds, with full confidence, strongly suggests a cover up of some sort.
That interview with Kolodin is chilling. He was foaming in the mouth throwing accusations at an imaginary enemy. Refuse to let elected officials demonize the media. That's what happened in the Philippines during Duterte's regime and we have never recovered.

I’d be interesting to get some sense of his early law career. While Yale has a reputation among top law schools of not training ppl who want to practice (e.g. they more often go into academia, venture capital and private equity, etc.), he worked for Sidley early on, which is a perfectly good and respected firm. But he seems to have his eyes set on bigger fish, which is why he migrated to the Bay.
Not that any of this matters re: his legal acumen: like you said, he can lie well enough. Although, he has more discomfort in certain instances, than certain other conservative figures, including the man at the top of the ticket (although, to be fair, Trump is a genius at prevarication).

Democracy Now losing relevance year by year. I used to love this show but rarely listen now since there is much you won't report on.
The Dems are now neo cons and conservatives have become anti war and oppose censorship, both old liberal values.
Part of this shift has something to do with Democracy Now's failure to provide reporting without ideology/funding guiding it.
jD Vance has some good qualities that speak to many Americans who feel abandoned by the media who fail to address the issues they face.

Those schools are all about money. Nothing to do with being smart anymore. If schools were free then going to a prestigious school would be meaningful but those schools don't accept students based on intelligence but on how much money the parents of the students have. Universities in the USA are just a joke to show off. That make society slow down because only the elite can go to those schools instead of smart students who should be the ones. At the same time it protects the interests of the richest families by having their children using the reputation of those Universities for their own personal gains
