I think doing this as a series with different store picks/shelf bottles is a great idea.
Hopefully people feel that way, it's fun!
Agreed. I just bought a BevMo select Woodford Reserve. I couldn’t find a review for it anywhere.
My wife and I compare a reg Buffalo Trace with a store pick and the store pick was a hitter
I love this idea!
Do it!!!!
While of course "better" is subjective, I think the most eye opening thing about this experiment is how different the bottles were. Definitely shows that store picks can have completely different flavor profile/complexity that shelf bottles that at the very least makes the experience unique.
Love this, I actually didn’t know a store pick was that different than a regular bottle! Definitely gonna grab some store picks
I’ve got 4 different Buffalo Trace store picks in Michigan and I love every single one of them!
I have Whigville, A&B (Davison), Spring Valley and then one from Michigan Bourbon Club. I’m hitting Parkway Beverage this weekend in Clinton Township and I’m going to pick up their pick as well.
“THE PROOF IS IN THE POOR” roll credits 😂
Buffalo Trace store picks are waaaay better than the original
I just got a Buffalo Trace SP. Gonna open it tonight after watching this.
Thanks for giving me an occasion to open my buffalo trace Busch's Fresh Market (Brighton MI) pick I grabbed about a year ago! Love the idea of doing picks vs. regular offerings
Really love this vid. As a relative noob to the game, I didn't embrace store picks until recently because I just didn't get what they truly were. I've realized now, after hunting for a few months, when owners/managers/staff ask, "anything in particular you're looking for?" and you don't yell out BTAC, Blantons, Weller, and instead ask about store picks, they take you seriously and start conversations. Got 3 relationships built with managers and owners this week by doing that. Even got some free tastings. And surely, that'll eventually turn into texts when allocations, store pick drops, or hard to finds come around. Just love this hobby and the Junkies got me in the know!
Totally agree. Make this a series and I’m sold. I mean I’ve been watching everything anyway but I’d love to see this. You guys are great.
That was very interesting! We don't get store picks here in England, so it was interesting to see how different the profile of SP compared to the standard, please carry on with this series
Definitely enjoyed this episode and would love to see more of this type of content. I'm sure there's more than just a few of us that wonder this all the time when we walk into a store and see a pick!
Good decision explaining what a store pick is. When I was first getting into whiskey it took a while to figure out. I originally thought it was bottles recommended by the staff lol.
Definitely do more store picks vs non store picks.
We were going to see how people liked this, for sure could keep the series going a bit though.
Impeccable timing with this video. I live in Maine and Buffalo Trace is really hard to get your hands on. Finally found some yesterday and noticed the store pick sticker. Literally was searching your channel last night to see if you made a comparison video....looks like my wish came true ;) Excited to pop it open tonight!
This was a great video! I’ve been on the fence of just buy non SP BT (because I know I love it) Or chance a local grocery chain SP BT. This was good info.
You fellas are great, love your channel! Would really like a video on release dates of 2021 bourbons. All the unicorns come out in September and October but would like a focus on old carter, michters, Elijah Craig BP and any brand new 2021 special releases. Cheers to 2021!
Cool series idea. I just wish I could taste them all side by side. I truly think that is the best way to learn and experience different bourbon. Stays true with wine or beer as well.
I like the concept. That's why i love watching you guys. Something different not just the same ol shit. Keep it rolling. Cheers Junkies.
Very cool idea. I know you have to find a liquor store that has a profile you like, but I have never had a store pick I've liked better than the regular offering.
Damn dude when are these barrels gonna get a girlfriend. Been single forever.
Lol it’s wild that y’all just did this video. I just picked up two Buffalo Trace store picks from my local vendor. I got two bottle because they were single barrel picks. Oh and they are awesome.
I've been waiting for a video like this, definitely would like more store pick and non sp blinds 👍👏
Definitely love this type of video. Crazy how many differences there are peer barrel. Great video boys!
Love these. Also would love more of these 10 minute blinds even with various brands.
Other than store picks are nearly impossible for me to find in the wild, I liked the concept. Reminds me of the old Whiskey Wars, just insert the glasses crashing intro
Never been able to find a Buffalo Trace store pick. Would love to some day. Always heard good things
I love the idea of more store picks vs shelf bottles videos. Please do an Eagle Rare SP versus standard shelf ER
Definitely need more of this series. It will be interesting to see if any standards beat out the store picks.
Do more, I like this series mainly because I have been buying store picks almost exclusively recently. Plus the commentary is pure comedy, as usual.
I'd like to see more of these store picks vs. shelf. Thanks!
Hahahhaha "...one ending statement" cutoff last word "proofs in the pour" well done Sean! That completely cracked me up!
I would love to see a series on these and different store picks. As you run out (if possible), I wouldn't mind sending a couple samples from Ohio in case you are a pour or two short on a certain bourbon. Cheers!
I’m loving this idea! Keep doing more of these. I’d like to see an Eagle Rare line up
Loved the store pick video. Recently had an Elijah Craig store pick and it was amazing. Keep em coming!
The habersham crew pick is from Savannah GA. I looked at my store pick I have and it's the same. Absolutely great store amazing people.
"the proof is the pour" aaaaaand CUT! :D And yes, would really like to see more of these comparisons.
I got a lot out of this video. I really didn’t understand how various store picks can differ from one another, and now I feel a bit smarter. Thanks, gents!
Love that Buffalo Trace! Had an Eagle Rare store pick in Dallas that was amazing!
At 5:45 is one of the most profound things I’ve heard about bourbon in awhile. And it’s why I love it so much. When it’s done right classic bourbon profiles can be so so good. I’ve had a few Buffalo Trace store picks and they were definitely better than the regular. One of them reminded me of D. It was exquisite. Nothing fancy just a perfect representation of stereotypical bourbon flavors 😋😋😋
I agree wholeheartedly that every (4 total) BTSP I’ve had has been twice the Whisky of the ROTMBP. (Run Of The Mill, just in case 😉)
Habersham Bev in Savannah, GA is the pick you chose 2nd. They consistently have great picks in store across a lot of brands. Their BT pick every year is my daily drinker. Never had a bad bottle they've chosen in many years. Best part is they charge retail!
Love it. Keep blinding store picks. Maybe stores will see this and we’ll get more single barrel stuff.
Love this and would def want to see you do this with other bottles
Regular Buffalo trace in my area can be hard to find at times, let alone a store pick. But yeah I like the series. If there is a Bourbon I like in the regular offering, then yeah I will grab a store pick every time. Great job.
You got one from A&B. I just found them and bought their store pick for Ezra Brook Cask Strength and Rebel Cask Strength
This is awesome! The shirt wrangling is weird, but the video concept is great and we need more. This is the kind of stuff that could convince me to Join.
I like these blind tastings with 3 SP’s and 1 non-SP of same bourbon. I’m curious to see how low the non SP’s rank. So I’d say yes please do more.
I grabbed a store pick BT from A and L in Ann Arbor a few weeks back, just finishing up my non-store pick BT, going to crack the sucker this weekend and watch a little bit of football
Love this series. Do Knob Creek single barrel store picks next!
Great video...that would have been epic if he did put the same thing in all 4 glens. Eagle Rare picks next?
Habersham Crew pick is from Savannah, Georgia.
Yes, do more of these. Great series idea.
I bought myself a SP BT a couple days ago, and I love it!
90% of the time can't go wrong
Keep this up guys. Great series idea!
I love this series guys, please keep it up.
Just found a store pick in DC today and found this! Awesome stuff.
And yes, the store pick beats normal BT to shreds.
I would definitely enjoy a series dedicated to comparing store picks to regular offerings.
Love this series idea! Keep it going!!!
Would love to see this for Knob Creek single barrel select vs single barrel reserve!
I recently got a Bullet pick. Leaps and bounds better than the regular shelf Bullet.
Good content guys! Really enjoy this concept
We've been huge fans of the bulleit picks we've had
I got the most recent BT pick from Novi Party Store. Strawberry short cake, all day. I find I really have to pace myself on that bottle or it'll be gone right now.
That is how you end a video! Looking forward to more of these store pick content
I’ve found that stores picks are generally better. I found some store pick Elijah Craig last year that was so good I bought the few bottles they had left ... amazing bourbon for the price .
My local store is about to get their BT store pick any day now...I definitely liked this. Do more...next 1792!
I like this. Y’all should definitely keep this goin.
Definitely do more of these videos.
Would love to see more of these videos!
really like this series boys, nice job!
Glad you guys did this. Personally, I have never been a fan if BT... just not my taste profile. Very bland and lackluster in my opinion. Would definitely like to try a store pick now and compare.
👌🏻👍🏻Great idea guys for a series guys; do Woodford double Oaked or Russells picks next.... NO, WAIT! Knob creek... NO, WAIT! Old forester... just keep going!!!
"I'm doing 10 push ups a day!"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Dan likes the funk. Gotta have that funk. Didn't see a BT store pick in 2020. Sad but true.
Do an EHT SiB SP vs regular. Great idea to do more of these.
100% keep this series going.
Yes please... more videos like this with generally available store picks.
Suggestion, 1792 store pick. I've been looking for a 1792 Sweet Wheat in the wild for a loooooooooooooooooooooooong time. Cheers, brisket fat.
Gotta keep these going! And a link to the store picks so we can buy them 🥃
Yes keep doing store pick videos! Love it
Just did this with a group of friends with 10 or so store picks of BT. We had some from here in CO that we definitely ranked below the standard BT!
I’m from CO too and got a buffalo trace store pick from Cheers liquor in springs about a week ago. I’m not sure how I feel about it. I want to say that the regular Buffalo trace might be better.
@@matthewchavez8664 - that is pretty funny as the first cheers pick is one of the ones that stood out as scoring lower in our tasting!
Haven’t come across any Buffalo Trace store picks just Elijah Craig SP...need to try if anyone knows how
Drive to Buffalo Trace Distillery. Take the tour. Head to the tasting room. Taste some incredible Bourbons and buy. I still have some cask strength Buffalo Trace hidden away just for me. Someday soon I'm going back.
I got a store pick about two years ago and it was fantastic! And the regular bottling just doesn’t hold up IMO
The BT store picks are so good. I’ve blinded them with Eagle Rare and EHT small batch and the store picks have way more flavor going on
Vote for doing more of these. I always wonder if it’s bullshit marketing or what, so this helps!
I find store picks so much more interesting; the good & the bad picks than the standard offerings.
I agree 100% with Dan. The worst thing a whiskey can be is inoffensive. To quote Revelation 3:16, “Because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I spit you out of my mouth.” At least have the common decency to be bad. Inoffensive is worse.
Bring it back! You guys should do anything flight of BT picks.
Definitely more store pick comparisons
Don't think I've ever seen a BT store pick out here in Cali yet. Really interesting to see how BT changes from a batch to a single barrel. Are BT picks older? This is actually a good idea for a series, it'd be fun to see a Russell's or Knob Creek video of different picks, even Eagle Rare. Also, classic Sean ending. Cheers guys.
Yeah I’ve also never seen a BT store pick in Cali either. I mainly see Woodford Reserve double oak, Elijah Craig small batch and Knob Creek store picks here in Cali.
Only found one BT SP up in NorCal and it sucked! Had an EC the was very good though. BevMo had a lot of store picks including Russell's SB and Woodford double oaked.
I've had two store picks. One I picked up in KY and another a local restaurant had. I loved the one from KY, way better than reg BT. The other hated, worse than reg BT.
Antone's by chance??
love the Sean dismissive look at 7:00
It's natural being around Dan
I would love to see some blend recommendations. I just blended Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon with Obtainium Polish Rye and it was fantastic. What would you guys recommend?
1915 is a popular one, which is 1910 and 1920.
Always love a good BT store pick
I’ve tried a blantons store pick and an eagle rare store pick. Both were very disappointing just because of how similar they were to a regular bottle.
Can we get a video on who has the best store (distillerys) picks and which are your favorite ones
We do wanna see more of these
Without looking through the last 10 months of videos, have you guys done more of these store pick vs non- store pick comparisons? Regardless, hoping to see more!
We haven't in a hot minute, it's hard to keep up with content sometimes. We'll keep doing them for sure though
I bought a bottle of Buffalo trace a while back to see what all the fuss was about, was not good to me. I've tried another bottle lately, I just can't see it, guess it just not for me. Love the channel!
Yeah BT is pretty overrated. So is eagle rare. Dont get me wrong, i dont thin they are bad, but not exciting
Chris (bourbinsane) hooked me up with a sample of that rishi's pick. I agree it's REALLY good.
It's fantastic!
