Paul, do you believe that airlines will now rethink their boarding policy and practices post COVID? Currently, all carriers should be thoroughly disinfecting the aircraft between each boarding and that will increase turnaround times. Travelers, beware, mvbo31, RN, MSN/MPH.
I know this is old but I wanted to attest to Surf shark. I tried the VPN out since this video came out (3 weeks at this point) and I can't complain. Compared to my old VPN (PIA. which is kind of a PITA) it's excellent. I have gigabit internet and get about 200-300Mb on download which is good enough for torrents and mega downloads. I had to talk with customer service for something (not the service... hadn't had an issue with it) and they were really efficient. I would recommend SurfShark if you're looking for a VPN as I've tried at least 5 of them (PIA, NORD, Vypr, etc) and surfshark so far is the best in my roughly 10 years of using VPN's. Of course I used the code too so I hope you get a couple bucks out of it Paul. Edited to add that I already saved $40 using this VPN. I bought a game online that costs $60 in the US but connecting to Russia (which PIA doesn't have) I was able to get it for $20. Pretty much paid for itself the first time I used it.
Thanks for paying us a visit mate - lots of fun and the video has come out well. Drove past that spot where we saw the kangaroos yesterday and there were about 50 of them enjoying the now green grass.
Flew with Jetstar for the first time on 3 occasions when in Oz in March this year and to be honest I was impressed for a budget airline. Flights were all spot on to time, aircraft were in good condition, snacks were acceptable and cost was low. IMHO they are better than most European budget carriers.
01:52 - I’m not sure if anyone else has commented this but there is generally no restrictions on how many and of what quantity you can carry of powders, liquids, aerosols and gels when travelling domestically. If you are carrying a large bottle of aerosol e.g. hair spray they may conduct an explosives test but generally it is allowed.
Seeing you in Adelaide has honestly made me so happy - it's always cool to see UA-camrs over here! Glad you enjoyed your stay and also that you enjoyed a lovely FUIC
Adelaide was the first city I visited in Australia two years ago. Very fond memories of Hindley Street. Stayed at a hostel on Hutt Street near The Arab Steed pub. Many people omit Adelaide on their itinerary, can't understand why.
During this pandemic I unsubscribed from many channels, because of their desperate attempt to monetize by behaving irresponsibly. In contrast I now appreciate even more channels like this one: not only did they respect the safety rules, but they proved that they have content in excess, really know their niche, and have a plan B and a plan C for when life might take an unexpected turn. This, my friends, is a sign that a UA-camr works hard and really cares about content quality. Kudos to you, Paul!
Glad yoy got to see the beautiful fleurieu peninsula while you here in Adelaide Paul and you had a great flight with Jetstar looking forward to the Indian pacific train journey video
Like you we have certain parallels in our lives . I’m a Brit , living in rural NSW with a daughter in Adelaide , so I fly from SYD to ADL regularly , well before that Covid 19 reared it’s head anyway , I’ve flown JQ lots of times ,and they are perfectly adequate on this route . I’m glad you had a good time with Dennis and look forward to your Indian Pacific video. BTW we have loads of kangaroos near us here .
Hi Paul and DENNIS, great to see you both in the one movie. Thanks for flying Jet Star. As a True Blue Ozzy its great to see our airline get onto your channel. and I cant wait to see the Train ride from East to West. Looking forward to that one Paul. Keep the movies coming, love watching them.
As ever Paul a brilliant video. Adelaide is one of the Australian cities it's easy to overlook when planning visits. I first visited for work and then realised how lovely it is. As a motor sport nut I always have an attachment to the city for its street races - including F1 in the 80s and early 90s and being a geek walked the whole route during my visit! I have used Jetstar a few times within Australia and also to hop between Auckland or Wellington and Sydney and found every experience to be consistent to yours - right down to the very agreeable chocolate muffin ;-)
No delays? It’s a damn miracle! Jetstar, especially here in New Zealand is notorious for being super late. Every time I’ve flown with them it gets delayed. Also, I’m hoping you got a chance to come down to New Zealand and fly our flag carrier!
The rear boarding at Adelaide seems to be standard practice for all short haul aircraft in my experience. My 3 Qantas and 1 Jetstar flights through there have all split the boarding.
Never been through adelaide but qantas seem to have an aversion to using the back stairs. They only ever seem to allow it when things are running late.
@@mabamabam Yeah I'm in Perth and I've never used the stairs here but every time I flew into Adelaide the rear ones were in use. Not really sure why, certainly didn't mind because getting to walk next to the plane is always great
@@izee500 It's a good system but there are always people who are seated at the rear of the aircraft who still board via the airbridge even after being told to board via the rear stairs. This causes a traffic jam in the aisle as people are trying to edge past other passengers going the other way.
Ahhh, lovely lovely SA. A place I feel homesick for, despite living in the UK my whole life. Thank you for introducing me to Dennis too, I’ve subscribed to his channel and I’m enjoying his back catalogue
Great to see Dennis Bunnnik in his new role as an UBER driver. Here's to a Great Drive!!! Do we gen warm nuts and a G&T in the drive, Dennis? Hope to see Paul Lucas, Dennis Bunnik and Paul Stewart producing new great videos again really soon.
I think it’s radio controlled, these are becoming popular. Having these be all electric probably saves the airport a lot in fuel and maintenance costs. There’s even one called Taxibot that designed to be controlled by the pilot to roll the plane all the way to the runway threshold, and then back to the gate after landing, saving a lot of aircraft fuel.
The most turbulent flight I have ever been was Adelaide to Sydney 1991, in an Ansett 737 frightened the living daylights out of my two kids! They've never forgotten it!
Paul you know in the Adelaide terminal up near the Tiger air gates you know they actually have a Priority Pass lounge that you can use It is run by regional express but if you have Priority Pass you can get into the lounge
Love it when some of your favourites collaborate. Lets have a Paul / Dennis / Jeb / Noel mashup! :-) Great video Paul! Sorry you were here during the bushfires. I was travelling a lot for work in December and the smoke was horrendous through Canberra, Sydney and here in Melbourne. Feels like so long ago now...
And well done for capturing the Royal Flying Doctor Service Pilatus PC12 taking off at 3.31. Probably heading to a remote outback site to assist someone in distress.
I first went on the IP when I was 8 years old in 1974, Sydney to Perth and then we flew back to Sydney via Adelaide on TAA (Trans Australia Airlines, also my first time flying.) Really looking forward to your IP review, it was your train reviews that first got me interested in subscribing to your channel.
6:47 I had no idea driverless aircraft tugs like that existed. I've seen small compact ones, but I've never seen one with steering that can still be controlled remotely.
You don’t have a limit on liquids anymore as they have some fancy scanner now. At least what I was told in Brisbane when I only had to put my backpack in the tray and kept my jacket and everything on me!
Hi Paul. Great video but I wouldn’t personally advise filming boarding across the tarmac when flying with Jetstar as they are super strict when it comes to that- Dennis Bunnik learnt the hard way
Another important fact about Adelaide Airport is that it’s a mere 5km from the city center-an artefact of the long, thin shape of the city. When I lived in Adelaide, we used to joke that if you left your house before the flight was boarding, you were too early!
@@DennisBunnikTravels Unfortunately, I also caught the downside. I lived off Barton Terrace West, in North Adelaide. The aircraft noise was not intolerable, but it was significant. I can't imagine how it would play out nowadays, trying to conduct Zoom meetings during peak arrival hours.
Glad to see you enjoyed it here in Adelaide, the airport is looking very sad at the moment, there are some freight flights coming in with the rare interstate but being near there the other day I saw at least nearly 10 virgin and other planes resting awaiting to fly again and in the case of Virgin who knows *cries in accumulated velocity points.
I lived in Sydney Australia for 2 and half years as a kid when I was 6, I took Qantas’s 747 from LA to Sydney. But doesn’t end there I took Jetstar to multiple destinations from Hamilton Island, Kangaroo Island, Tasmania, Gold Coast, and of course New Zealand !
Just to say that I live in ADL, and Qantas also make passengers sit at the back to board through the rear exit of the aircraft. But seems that they don't do it in SYD/MEL, I don't know why.
Looking forward to the Indian Pacific trip but i was just wondering, why didn't you both did the Ghan and the Indian Pacific if you were in Adelaide anyways. Take the Ghan north to Darwin (it has a nice small aviation museum) then fly down to Perth and board the Indian Pacific over there to Sydney, That's the way i did 3 years ago. Okay it's is bit more money but you have the absolute best experience ever.
Price and time are probably the main reasons. The indian pacific and ghan are very expensive train trips. People save for years to do just one of those trips
I've flown Jetstar a few times and had no major problems. You just need to avoid tight connections and allow plenty of time. One thing you can do if your in this neck of the woods in Nov 2021 is a day trip on Jetstar Sydney to Avalon for the airshow. I've done it a couple of times, and flying in to the airshow gives a unique perspective.

Dennis!! 😀 We miss you also. What kind of car? Looked fancy with the leather and sunroof. Why was he too cheap to drive you to Sydney? Lol 😂 jk. A city tour of Adelaide would be cool, those places you ate at. It looked like Paul never flown before, forgot boarding pass, touching plane for good luck or cheers.... 🙃 Haha
Thanks Dr, it's a bmw 3 something that's petrol and electric (extent of my car knowledge - it does drive well though). Gave Paul the full Southern Vales experience including Port Noarlunga, McLaren Vale & Willunga. With tastings at Alpha Box & Dice and the fancy reds at Chapel Hill followed by lunch at the Salopian Inn. It was a tough way to spend the day.

Just remember, it all seems fine until there is a problem. JQ is terrible. They don't care if a flight is delayed and communication is non-existent. This Aussie will never fly with them again - or Tiger. If you're young and carefree and don't care if you fly today or in three days time, go ahead. It's cheap and clean. This old fool on his last trip got an email three hours before an international flight with JQ saying the flight was cancelled and to ring the call centre. I did and they fucking argued with me telling me the flight wasn't cancelled. Incompetence.
Not one of my favorite airlines, once my flight was cancelled no flight until the next day. Another flight cancelled but put on the next 4 hours later, not happy. Buy the way flew down to Canberra to fight fires in December on Alliance Airlines in a Fokker70 great for an avgeek a real treat.
can't wait for the train one coming but it's going to make me cry because i didn't take it 10 years ago when i was there. hope that little town that's only served by rail gets a mention (cook crossing?). anyway this series is already superb, i binge-watched the round the world trip recently and loving this one too.
I know it's popular to hate on JQ, but to be fair, they're great value. Their fares are almost comparable with European LCCs, which is incredible when you think that they operate much closer to a full service airline, with properly ticketed connecting flights, full access to QF frequent flier earning and redemption, and even a J class (albeit more like premium economy) on their 787s. The best part is that redeeming QF points on Jetstar is cheaper than on QF, so you can squeeze quite a bit more flying out of your points if travelling is more important to you than brand status.
Just subscribed for more travel news around Australia. Looking forward to the rail trip video. Need to know how much time needed for the entire trip plus some recommended stopovers for sight-seeing. This pandemic will delay plans somewhat for me, but I can wait(we were just recently in Australia - some Victoria and Brisbane to Airlie Beach in Q’land👍😊.....greetings from BC, 🇨🇦😁
Nice video as always! I also do flight reports and I was wondering what’s your camera setup? I see you have the GoPro but I see you use a camera for your Cinematic airport shots? And what lenses do you use? Thanks!
The limit on carry on fluids was always security theater. Interesting, that's been relaxed here in the US you can carry up to a 12 ounce bottle of hand sanitizer now.
I think the use of the rear stairs is an Adelaide thing and not necessarily just a Jetstar thing. I flew Qantas over xmas into and out of Adelaide and they were using the stairs there as well.
2:00 tbh we were travelling from Accra to London and they weren't strict on the liquids either. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to be a European thing that the liquids are strict on.
I once had an 8oz tube of tooth paste with me. The inspector questioned this. I said that there was only about one ounce of toothpaste left in the tube. "but the tube says 8oz". I had to discard it.

@@DennisBunnikTravels Hey Dennis, thanks for the response and important information. Hmm they must not have that car, hybrid in the States 🇺🇸. Those sound like great places you guys went. I hope to visit Australia one day. Scuba dive etc. Plus I heard they have better medicine and health care than ours lol 😂 🇦🇺. My best friends wife is Australian. Be well. When will you be posting new videos? Cheers mate 🥂
@@doctorsteve5838 Presumably the BMW 330e.. basically a petrol 320 engine with an additional 10kW battery good for 60km all electric.
I looked at it.. then bought a Tesla 3.. on a ship at present
@@mark123655 good choice. Ludacris mode vroom 🏎️
Already looking forward to that train report
I dread jetstar. Even 3 hour flights to Tokyo are agonizing. Seats are too tight for my tall frame.
jetstar australia and jetstar japan are not really the same.
Only airline I've ever flown in my life, perfectly acceptable for the price on these 2 hour or so flights
Everyone says there long flights are bad they aren’t man the days of Jetstar
You can take liquids on Japanese domestic flights too.
Thanks Paul. Hopefully next time you visit Australia, we won't be on fire.
Safe travels
6:46 why GSE can be cooler than planes at times
Good to see Dennis.
Thanks Richard.
UA-cam reviews of the Indian Pacific are few and far between. I’m looking forward to seeing this with anticipation.
can't wait for the train one coming but it's going to make me cry because i didn't take it 10 years ago when i was there. hope that little town that's only served by rail gets a mention (cook crossing?). anyway this series is already superb, i binge-watched the round the world trip recently and loving this one too.
Thank you Paul I'm learning a lot
awesome flight report....tks for your video my bro
Did u manage to try tiger air during your down under trip?
Short but sweet. Nice.
Aussie Ryanair but better?
This reminds me of Southwest Airlines, but with more snack options.
Thanks!
Definitely looking forward to the train report 👍
The limit on carry on fluids was always security theater. Interesting, that's been relaxed here in the US you can carry up to a 12 ounce bottle of hand sanitizer now.
I think the use of the rear stairs is an Adelaide thing and not necessarily just a Jetstar thing. I flew Qantas over xmas into and out of Adelaide and they were using the stairs there as well.
@6:50 why was that buggy moving by itself?
2:00 tbh we were travelling from Accra to London and they weren't strict on the liquids either. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems to be a European thing that the liquids are strict on.
It's the same in North America too, they're fairly strict
I once had an 8oz tube of tooth paste with me. The inspector questioned this. I said that there was only about one ounce of toothpaste left in the tube. "but the tube says 8oz". I had to discard it.
Interesting uber Paul lol 😂
Paul how do I arrange that uber next time I’m in Ozz ?
Great vlog as always
Can’t wait for the rail vlog Paul
When you fly over Into Victoria you are flying Into the Murray Sunset National Park this flight passes about 35kms north of where I live.
