    I’m so glad you’re talking your diet and IF! I’ve been IF for almost 2 yrs now and I could talk about it ad nauseam. But I won’t 😂 I will say that I haven’t done the precise diet you did, nor will I because we already eat clean, grass fed meat, wild caught fish and pasture raised eggs. We don’t eat grains or starches and I FINALLY stopped craving sugar on IF. It’s just a lifestyle for me now. I’ve lost 40 lbs in almost 2 yrs, my physical was fantastic, my LDL decreased, my HDL increased and my triglycerides decreased. I didn’t diet at all, we already ate really healthy, I just started IF. My husband started IF back in Nov of last yr because he was pre diabetic, it runs in his family. His numbers are now perfectly normal! We both feel better than we’ve felt since we were in our 40’s! We are 65 and 66. One thing I’d like to add, I really worked on my gut health, we started making our own yogurt, making our own sauerkraut, etc, I knew my gut wasn’t healthy, I was chronically constipated for yrs. Now I’m not. Everything is running like clockwork! IF seriously changed our lives. I made a believer out of my doc too, she was very skeptical in the beginning, calling it a fad diet, not anymore! And now to hear you say how much better you feel and that you’ve lost food cravings too… Well it just further validates what I’ve been screaming from the rooftops for almost 2 yrs now! IF is healthy! And health is everything. Love you, my friend! Have a great weekend! J.

      Yessss!!! Jessie, I love your story w/ IF! I also think you are doing the basic diet in the book: quality protein and veggies w/o grains or starches! This keeps insulin levels low until insulin is needed during digestion. No more insulin spikes due to sugar and that's the healthiest thing you can do for your body! Love, love, love what you're doing!!! Keep it up and please keep talking about it... Hugs, Cheryl

    I am 56 and I Intermittently fast and it has been a game changer for me. Belly fat is tough but it amazes me how a healthy diet ( I am plant based) and IF has kept my body at the best it had ever been. I think being consistent and eating well and not doing a crash diet or a diet at all is key. It is also amazing what it does for your skin and aging. I teach my clients this.
    Great information.

      Hi MaryEllen!! So glad you stopped by to chat today. I enjoyed my time on the diet and am enjoying continuing to follow the basic principles to keep those cravings away. I didn't have coffee this morning. After my water, I ran a quick errand then did my "gratitude" walk out in the warm sun (there's a storm blowing in right now) and once I got home it was close to my breakfast time, so I had a few sips of broth then made my smoothie. I didn't even think about having coffee. It's so wierd!!

    Thank you for posting. Your videos are so encouraging. I’m going to try the 10 day slim down. I’m diabetic, but under control. If I can eliminate the sugar (processed sugar) cravings, I could lose the weight and keep my numbers down. I started eating healthy when the pandemic hit as I was home a lot. So, veggies and dark berries are on my meal list. I love a salad! I just have to watch what I add to it. No bread or high sugar fruit. Clean meats, fish, poultry. Oh, I also use flax / chia seed blend in my smoothies or sprinkle it on salad along with unsalted sunflower seeds. Thanks again.

    Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I’m 52 and started menopause 3 years ago (yes, during the 2020 craziness) and it’s been, well -a journey. The extra weight and belly fat is so hard to wrap my head and heart around. Even when at times in my life when I gained weight, I never felt negative towards my body . I actually was more loving and nurturing towards myself and was always good about being my own cheerleader but also keeping myself in check, never really gaining more weight that I could manage with ease. I’m going to give this a try . Thank you for the post menopausal info as well . There’s so much to relearn about your body and mental health.

      Hi Angelita, yes there is so much more information available now than there was when I went through menopause 15 years ago. And even now, I have the occasional hot flash so the jouney continues. Losing the belly fat has been a game changer, improving my physical and mental health. Hormonal changes during menopause absolutely effect your mood and can cause severe depression, so please don't be too hard on yourself. There are so many things that can help: IF, herbs, teas and 2 tablespoons of ground flax seed every day, which FINALLY stopped my hourly hot flashes. There are 3 channels I can recommend for good info: Mary Claire Haver, MD (IF for menopausal women); Autumn Bates (nutrition and IF tips) and Dana Lavoie (herbals and foods that make the transition easier). You may already have found some of these women here on YT, but if not, I highly recommend them. Take care and thank you for stopping by!

    Hi Cheryl 👋!! I am new to your channel, and I think you are great!!! You have such a fabulous voice, soothing and soft and slow and the few videos so far I have managed to watched have been so inspirational!! So, yes, a new subbie for sure and will be looking forward to watching many more!!
    I have lost a lot of weight and the fat is now hanging low in my tummy and I have still a small belly fat problem in the 'spare-tire' area too. (The doctors don't know why I've lost so much weight it just came off over the last year and now I am boney and look terrible until you get down to my blobs of low-hanging leftover fat!!) Paints a pretty picture, right? ha ha!! Anyway, I am going to order that book and see what it will do for my excess belly fat and my THICK waist. I am 5 feet and my waist is 30 inches...way to big for the height I am. My rib cage sticks out like a skeleton...lol, not a pretty sight at all, and what little 'boobs' I did have are completely gone. A size AAA cup is too big, honestly!!!
    anyway, I do have a few questions, one is can you eat eggs? You never mentioned them in this video, so I was wondering that and also, I noticed when you showed your plate once or twice, you had very little (in my opinion) on them for the amount I like to eat. Would I still loose some of the fat if I ate a fuller plate of the meats, and veggies that they suggest do you think? I will definitely miss my coffee for I am a coffee-holic!! And I do use almond milk but it has a tiny bit of vanilla in it and I also use the Torino syrups to sweeten them, but I am so determined to try this for the 10 days at least that I will forgo my coffee, (sniff-sniff!!)
    Another thing that will be hard for me is the IF, because of my sleep pattern lately, I have insomnia really badly and often don't fall asleep until daylight and then I am up late and eat late and, well, what I am saying is, I don't have any regular schedule to know when to get the two meals in and allow for the fasting, but I suppose after reading the book, I'll get it worked out!
    Sorry for posting such a LONG and boring comment, please forgive me, I guess I am a blabber too!! Hugs and blessings to you dear lady! And, if you have read this, double bless you!! ❤

    • @FreeRangeDiva
      @FreeRangeDiva  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Nancy! Thank you so much for sharing your story and thank you for your kind words. This was NOT a boring comment. So to answer your questions: yes, you can eat all the eggs you want; yes you can have coffee, but it must be w/o sugar or creamer if you have it during the fasting hours. If you have it during your eating window, they you can have cream or creamer (dairy or plant) as long as it doesn't have added sugar. Once you have the book, please read it carefully because this 10-day may not be a good choice for you. Then talk to your doctor/nutritionist about it before you begin. Make sure your doctor knows your concerns about losing weight and ask for a consult w/ a nutritionist to make sure you're not missing any vital nutrients. I've had a long history w/ insomnia and for me it was stress/elevated cortisol related. But for you, there may be another reason so this is another thing you should get checked w/ your dr. I will say, that the diet (which is really a sugar/carb reset) improved my sleep quality. Finally, you can adjust the eating window to whatever best suits your schedule. That's the good thing about intermittent fasting, you can customize it to fit your needs. Even if you decide not to do the 10-day, there are good ideas in it for healthy nutritious eating that can improve your health and sleep! HTH and keep me updated! xo Cheryl

    • @FreeRangeDiva
      @FreeRangeDiva  2 роки тому +1

      Oh and one more thing... yes, my portion sizes looked small. But I ate until I was full (on the diet you eat until satiated), so often I would get full on what was on my plate. If I wasn't quite full I would add more protein, veggies or sometimes a hand full of nuts!

    • @nancykirk8913
      @nancykirk8913 2 роки тому +1

      @@FreeRangeDiva one more question if you don’t mind? The shake we watched you make; was that for your first meal of the day or breakfast so to speak? Just curious! I feel like it had to have been meal number one, right?

    • @FreeRangeDiva
      @FreeRangeDiva  2 роки тому +1

      @@nancykirk8913 Yes, on the diet your first meal is a protein shake and she gives you choices of ingredients for the fat and fiber components. It's light on fruit and heavier on veggies and fat.

    Wow thank you Cheryl for sharing as I have had a belly all my life. I'm skinny everywhere else and many would ask when I was due. I went into menopause at age 45 and I am 5'3" and now that 29 inch belly that I had when I was 16 has blown up to 35 inches still skinny everywhere else. For the first time in my life I understand the struggle of weight loss. So thank you for putting out a video that shows this diet works for us in menopause because I'm realizing a normal ab workout isn't enough. My question for you is it sounds like you can keep drinking water or broth outside of the 7 hour eating window. Is that correct?

    • @FreeRangeDiva
      @FreeRangeDiva  Рік тому +1

      Hello and yes, I completely understand your struggle, so thank you for sharing. I'm happy to report that it's been almost a year since I did the 10-day and then transitioned into intermittent fasting 16:8 and the weight continued to melt off and my tummy is still flat (and my waist measurement today was 27, yay!). Yes, during the 10-day you are encouraged to drink as much broth as you like outside the eating window. I believe this is to help w/ sugar cravings. Technically for IF, the broth does break your fast because it's protein. But it doesn't spike your blood sugar too much. Personally, I only drink water during my fast - no broth. HTH and good luck! IF has been a gamechanger for me and I'm sure it will be for you as well, provided you eat for nutrition so lots of protein, veggies, and healthy fats.

      @@VanLifewithSolstice I think the easiest reply is to direct you to the channel Autumn Bates. I follow her eating ''plan' that structures your meals around protein, fats & veggies. She's mostly low carb for weight loss, but also allows for a once a week cheat meal where you might have pasta or a sugary dessert. I lost my taste for sugar so I rarely have desserts and when I do it's usually something that I made that has less sugar. I don't count calories or grams EXCEPT to make sure I get between 20-25 grams of protein at each meal (which keeps me full & satisfied). Hi Cheryl, I just came across your video a few days ago and it inspired me to get the book. I too have struggled with the menopausal weight gain and have tried so many different things but when I saw your video I thought this might just work for me.
    I do have a question. After reading the book, I know you said you have some berries in the evening with almond butter did I miss something in the boom about that? I thought the last meal was the slim plate meal. I did do a speed read so I could have missed it.

    • @FreeRangeDiva
      @FreeRangeDiva  Рік тому +1

      Hi Yolanda! This book triggered my adoption of intermittent fasting as a lifestyle. It's been a year and I lost additional weight over time and have kept it off. You are correct about the slim meal and although I stuck closely to the diet during the 10 days I found I needed additional calories so I substituted what I would have normally had for "dessert" w/ the raspberries & almond butter. Not everyday, but occasionally. One of the best parts of the 10-day is that it caused me to lose my sugar cravings. The 10-day is very restrictive and once it's done, you'll need to add back in more protein, healthy fats and fiber from veggies & fruits. I hope this answered your question. xo Cheryl
