I bought a patrol from Queensland with a GVM upgrade done post reg qld gov and VicRoads accepted the Queensland engineers certificate and no issues with getting it on vic plates.

Interesting in the you say you don't want " free" or " discounted" goods that's great but I've heard that before with other " influencers " who say the same thing then they can't help then selves accepting products with " partnerships ect

Hi, I've been following you guys for a while and love your content. Im watching the Chev build closely as my wife are buying one as well to tow our new Urban 23 centre bathroom we just ordered at the recent Vic Caravan show. I hope you dont mind if i ask a couple of questions on the build.... what companies GVM/GCM upgrade did you buy? How much did it cost (dont answer if you think that's a bit rude 🤔) and are you going to get the new fuel tank engineered (just asking re insurance issues etc). Love your work and keep living the dream and, maybe, we see you on the road sometime when we start our lap. Cheers, Rodney and Riss

We went with Touring Solutions Australia 4.2T GVM/ 4.5T BTC/ 8.7T GCM.
All up it was around $21,000 including the load rated wheels an tyres.
The fuel tank doesn't need to be engineered as it's classed as a replacement tank and bolts straight back using all factory fuel components. Same fuel fill point, etc. Not an extra tank.

A few places in WA, and QLD. It's just about revisiting and spending more time in those places to really see if they're liveable.

If someone gave you free stuff to try out and it was good stuff then I would certainly be inclined to buy that product for sure, so don't not try free stuff if offered. Its kinda part of the deal.
To be honest it's not our thing.
Definitely no deals here, just a travelling family archiving memories of our family exploring our beautiful country for our children to watch back on, and if we can share knowledge we've learnt with others that may help them, we're doing something right and we're content with that!

Do they actually upgrade the rear diff housing or is it just springs and shocks and put a new number on it.
There are no grey areas having a trailers ATM rated at 4.5t when your tow vehicle can tow less than that, it's actually black & white
with the 4.5T GVM they do upgrade the rear diff. We only got the 4.2T as we're not putting a canopy or anything real heavy on ours. Springs, shocks, upper control arms, airbags and obviously changing out wheels and tyres to high load rating.
Well its grey if you have an accident, and they weigh everything to see how heavy the load was and if it was legal to find whether your compliant for insurance cover. Unfortunately there are people in our world that don't comply to weight restrictions.
