The sound is not synchronised with the wheel revolutions.

Very few locos do unless you fit a chuff synchronising cam on the back of a wheel or on an axle. Most of us just get something that is reasonably close at low speed because once you hit even a low line speed, you can't tell if the chuffs are out unless they are waaaay too slow.
