    This is awesome! I'm doing some skiing at Sugar Mtn, NC, in a few months and plan on combining some of your NC trip with this trip (back to middle TN). I just visited the area at the 3:38 mark last summer and rented kayaks at that historic Texaco gas station. Also drove down some of those gravel roads around there in my 3rd Gen 4Runner and didn't realize that was part of the TAT (didn't know about it at the time). Gotta see more. Sub'd. Thanks for sharing!

    Great job on the videos, I’m working my way through the series. I have a 2021 stock Dodge Ram 4x4 with 4wd low - 4 door on 20” tires. With the long wheel base and stock height is there any possibility I could do this trail? I realize it’s not really purpose built for this. Concern would be bottoming out, river crossing and tight turns as she has the turning radius of an ocean liner.

    How do you turn around with a trailer if you come upon a cloased gate?

    • @OverlandPioneers
      @OverlandPioneers  3 роки тому +1

      A few ways. Typically gates are right at pull offs so a easy back up and turn around. Or a Austin powers 50 point turn. Worst case is back the trailer to one side of the trail disconnect after locking trailer brakes turn the truck around. Flip the trailer around and reconnect. Takes about 3 mins. So not bad.

      @@OverlandPioneers okay. Tn is not near as strict as Nc. Nc is more serious about closing off national forest, the Nantahala, and pisgah national forests are extremely regulated and patrolled. They don’t always close the gates on December 15th, but that is the date that the signs say all of the non-essential roads close. (This is in my back yard and i am very frustrated with the seasonal gates and permanent closures, but just wanted to put the info out for others to know)
