I don't know about jam and bacon, but maple syrup is pretty good on it, so maybe the sweetness of jam would work as well. Oh! I wanted to ask, have you ever reacted to the acappella group, Voiceplay? They're amazing! I suggest starting out with their cover of "Nothing Else Matters" (which is 99% acappella) or my personal favorite, "Valhalla Calling!" At the moment here are four core members Geoff (said as Jeff), their bass with long hair (he'll blow your mind!), Eli, their bald rock god tenor (pronounced El-lee, not E-lie), Layne, their beatboxer (easy to pick out, he apparently swallowed a synthesizer at some point) who also sings sometimes, and has some other talents, and Cesar, another tenor with bushy black hair and a winsome face (also with bedroom eyes}. They have frequent guest singers. Their fifth member is J. None, who is currently in the Naval Choir, but comes back to sing with them often. I believe they're leaving the fifth spot open for him. He is the handsome African American young man who "guest" stars in the two songs I suggested. Sorry this got so long! Enjoy! I'm subscribing because I hope to see you watch Voiceplay! Richard and I worked together at an elementary school in Terre Haute for many years. I loved getting to school early and hearing him sing. His voice carried through the hallways beautifully. Nicest guy too! Humble for sure.

He sings in a cover band on weekends around the Terre Haute area. The band is called Manopause (middle-aged guys). They play, and he sings Journey, Damn Yankees.38 Special, Guns n Roses, Alice in Chains, Led Zepplin, etc.. the band has a Facebook page.

@heathlee5698 I love the guy too. I was born and raised in Princeton, IN...retired in Arizona now, but hearing him and his mannerisms makes me homesick for southwest Indiana! Love the people there!
I hope to see his band sometime. I live close to Vincennes, so not too far from Terre Haute. Hopefully Ill be able to get to a performance at some point.

Both Steve Perry and Journey tweeted about that tiktok. He had tried to audition back in 2009, but never made it to audition before the judges.

My unprofessional opinion that despite musical terms Richard has the real, raw talent that surely agt is after. And the fact that he lived such a humble life. A good supporting is all it takes

I have watched Richard Goodall on the AGT videos so many times and I'm still amazed. I saw your video and watched, thanks for putting it out. This gentleman is so deserving and his humility is so genuine. From your explanation of this talented singer now I can appreciate his singing that much more. There's no better beauty than discovering beauty in an unassuming place.

This is absolutely the best audition ever, and a joy to watch people react to! It's so awesome! Simon's jaw drop, him completely gobsmacked, Terry jumping up and down like an excited kid at Christmas, Richard, so shy and nervous at first, but then completely in his element as he sang! I can't wait to see what he does next! I think he'd do a good job with some Aerosmith, maybe?💙

I’m a firm subscriber to the theory that he has perfect pitch.

I have listened to him several times since he got on that stage. I cry every time he gets done he is amazing I hope he makes it all the way. I can't wait to see the next time that he sings and what he sings.

Yeah, I heard this about 10 days ago. I didn’t even watch the show. I seen it on a notification on my UA-cam. He is amazing. I have wash this thing probably 500 times he is special he’s very special and he is voice isn’t too far from Steve, Perry’s voice.

This was The Best performance that I’ve seen on AGT
I've always said that this is one of the hardest songs to sing. And he reached all the notes like butter. That (somewhere in the night), I always say that you have to clench your butt cheeks to reach it, and he just killed it. I was blown away when I first saw him because I'm a big Steve Perry fan.
I think if Journey had heard him 18 years ago before they heard Arnel Pineda, they might have hired him to be their lead singer.
Absolutely. This guy is talented. He just need to endure the vocal torture from constant touring like Perry and Pineda did. Journey's songs are no joke, it is hard to be consistent every performance.

I don't know how many times I've watched Richard singing but everytime I'm emotional.I follow many podcasts about him and all praised his natural abilities. And praises coming from a vocal coach is something special.I liked Howe Mendel's connection of cleaning the floor and "cleaning up tonight ".I eagerly waiting for his next performance.
I would like to hear Richard sing another Journey song "Open Arms."
As a former coworker, I MIGHT have caught this once. You wouldn’t be disappointed.
I'm sure he would kill it, but they won't let him do that song now, since they don't want to give the impression that Journey songs are the only songs he can sing well. They might let him do it if he reaches the semifinals.
One thing that amazed me is that his voice is nearly identical to Steve Perry; the original singer in Journey. Listen to the original and compare it to Richard.
I have - several times. Frankly, I like Richard's a little better.
Don't get me wrong - Perry sounds GREAT, but there's a quality to Richard's that just does it for me!
There is a video on YT where someone has played Journey's version and Richard's version of this song concurrently, with Steve Perry on the left channel and Richard on the right channel. The result is amazing! Except for a few places, they sound almost identical. You must use headphones or earphones when you listen to it to really get the desired effect.
Richard Goodall's Audition is, I think, both incredibly emotive and uplifting ! I hope this carries him forward to greater self belief ! Thank you for your hugely interesting insight It adds a whole extra dimension in to appreciating his ability and the reasoning behind the impact of his performance ! ( other than the stark contrast with his humble persona !) I thoughly enjoyed your presentation,,,This is the first one I've seen...I will definitely watch again, :-)
Richard just shared your video. There's more to Richard's story than you know. I met him online a few years ago, and where I met him will tell you a bit more about him. I met him in a Facebook Widowers support group. I was actually more pleased to find out he now has a fiance. Everyone in our group was cheering for him (as we do all our members when something positive happens). Love him and wish him well. I personally feel there were more to those tears when he won than some may realize.
Oh, and Richard was talking about how some think he is not real. I told him that the fact that he is so good that they don't think he is real, is a testament to his AI programmers. 😜
He probably is experiencing the "Jackie Evancho effect." Jackie competed in 2010 at the age of 10 singing opera (actually classical crossover) and she was so good everyone was accusing her of lip syncing. She had to constantly prove that she was actually doing the singing. She placed second in the competition and has had a great singing career ever since.
He's sung gospel songs in church as an accompanied soloist as recently as 5 years ago.

Oooo, that's exactly what I thought, after being bowled over by his performance-I wondered what song he'll choose next. "Living on a Prayer" was a GOOD suggestion! His range would have no problem reaching those notes.
Lol, I absolutely LOVE watching people watch Richard's first show. That 😶 look. 🤣 I can't sing a lick myself, but I have a musical background (piano and violin) and WISH I could sing.
I caught every nuance of his UNprofessional performance (with NO training other than SELF training), with only one or two VERY small pitch points only very SLIGHTLY off and I was floored. Raw talent. Pure unmitigated talent.

This guy is great! It makes me wonder what f he just, unfortunately, didn’t have the people around him when he was younger to help push him towards something bigger. Maybe he did, I don’t want to disparage anyone without knowing, but it makes me wonder. Like you said, we’re surrounded by people with extraordinary talent that just don’t realize it whatever the case may be. It’s exciting for us to see it unfold for them.

I saw an interview he did since the audition aired and he said he's never had any vocal training. Just him singing along to his stereo in his bedroom.
For his next song, I'm thinking maybe Bryan Adams, or Billy Joel might work well with his vocals.
This performance reminded me of Susan Boyle's first audition on Britain's Got Talent where she sang the song from Les Miserables. Richard Goodall might consider singing that song.

Ninaaaaa! I was scared for him too. One tear, one tissue (save the forests) and goose bumps at 30%. Next song - Unchained Melody? A Change Is Gonna Come? Or are they done to death? And what do you do with those that hasn't been done? Sing it straight with no wobbly bits?? How about Life On Mars just to get him out of the US. I want those goose bumps up to 75%. 🤗Honey on the bacon please. 🍯🐖

I chose this one because, through Richards's singing venture, he sang in front of kids. That isn't as judgmental as an adult. He rocked this song. He really needs the Wheel in the sky to keep him focused.

He has performed locally in his home town and is well known there.
There is a side by side comparison of Richard and Steve Perry on UA-cam. The difference is negligible. It's pretty amazing.
I think he would do good with either Phil Collins or Peter Gabriel.
I’m inclined to believe that Richard 100% has perfect pitch. Tone, intonation, shaping are phenomenal but his ability to land right on each note is phenomenal to take in. Like, the only time he opts to slide up to a note is so precise and extremely stylistic rather than like what lots of vocalists do to find the note.

When he was in his 50's and 60's Steve Perry said his voice wasn't what it used to be. Perhaps Goodall was even better when he was in his 20's and 30's.
