@user-zx7xx8hm8w absolutely lol but Paul is an amateur at innuendo and double entendre and it's great to see. I been talking about my chopper or erection or juicy sausage on UA-cam for ten years or more lol pretty much every video I do has smutt in it 😅 🙃 😂 about time a professional picked up the mantel 😆
love watching your stuff but what I really like is how honest you are. things like mistakes and how you can forget how to do stuff. genuine guy as well as a genuine channel :)
I use bungee cords, cheating but quick set up for tarp. Tie guys with several loops in to corners of tarp so you have adjustment. Easy to adjust dependent on weather.
Bloody brilliant video Paul and great to see you cooking again. Lovely to start 2023 with one of your new vids! All the best for the new year fella. Be safe 🙏
Happy New 2023 to You and Jo. Great way to start the new year camping and cooking with the tried and true Trangia alcohol stove. Your dinner looked cooked perfectly and the seasonings looked amazing... no doubt everything tasted delicious. Always enjoy seeing you fix a proper meal.
The reason for putting up tarp on arrival is to give a group dry area To ensure the gear outside is protected To provide some weather cover Mostly, it’s a thing to set up then have one or all of you tinker with to try to figure where the water should drip. Nothing is wrong with that, everyone needs a hobby and a tarp is worth it when appropriate
Tarp' needs a centre or off centre pole if it's set high up. A pyramid. Set it out square & use a branch (padded at the top with fleece) in the centre, to tighten it all up. Job done.
Your videos are inspirational thank you very much. I have been a subscriber for about 3 days and I already feel like I've learned a lifetime of valuable information.
I love all the full on cooking that you do up the hills Paul. I'm always puzzled how you clean pans up afterwards to use the next day. Lots of meat and veg leaves a lot of grease! Be great to learn how to clean things afterwards while on the top of some hill! Thanks for all the videos and tips.
I just got my 3×3 DD tarp out this morning after a couple years so I could sit somewhere dry on my dog walk, got to admit you wasn't as rusty as I was setting it up
*_Previously I would like to greet you Mr. Paul, greetings to meet me, Rudy Agustman, mountain climber and outdoor tutorial... I really like your adventurous style, the camping food is delicious... you..., your equipment is good..., I support your channel Mr. Paul because I look forward to watching your next video._*
As somebody who has made the same mistake more times than I’d care to admit, I winced when you put the Trangia out at the end there with the gasket-sealed cap instead of the simmer ring. It’s just a cheap o-ring replacement and no big deal (and I tend not to keep fuel in the burner anyway), but I always beat myself up about it.
I always take the o-ring out if I need to use the cap to extinguish the flame. I’ve shown me doing that in previous videos. It’s a fair comment to point out for people though 👍🏻
@@PaulMessner Ah, fair. Sorry to assume 😅. Do you prefer the cap for extinguishing, out of curiosity? (I've definitely noticed that in breezy conditions with a strong flame it can be...difficult...to make the simmer ring actually snuff the flame).
Great vid Paul. I bought the XBoil system after I saw one of your vids on it and it's great. I've enjoyed seeing you get out into the woods just for the headspace mate. Top stuff. Look after yourself. 👍
After watching Tony's vids for a while I keep meaning to try the tent and tarp combo but when I'm in the woods I usually bring the hammock. I sometimes use my poncho as an extra admin area over the tent doors if need be but having that much more extra room to move about might be a game changer!? How do you feel about it Paul?
Happy New Year, Paul. For some reason, I love camping in the winter. Maybe it's the sound of the rain on the tent. 😬 I went out on a solo overnight last night, the wind was pumping I couldn't even light a fire for dinner and had to settle for snacks instead. This morning I could enjoy my cheese grillers and eggs at least. Thanks for this video and all your effort.
Always enjoy your vids. Thanks. Also, I'm quite interested in bags/quilts at the minute and it seems like comfort/movement is a big selling point that's difficult to read about. I (think I) recall in a previous video you also had a Sierra Designs Cloud. If you get stuck for ideas it would be great to hear a bit more about bag pros and cons. Essentially as both this Rab and the SDcloud seem to suggest quilt-ish advantages.
There was me thinking "well done Paul, you didn't go for the obvious gag about the ribbed cup" and then you had to spoil it with the sausage gag at the end. 🤣🤣🤣
Mate I've loved the altitude camping and im shore there will be more but it was a nice change of pace and you certainly knew what you're talking about. Plus you were fucking funny .I had to pause and get to my bog a bit quick. Nearly had the stain of shame. Mind you i have drunk a little bit of alcohol. Love to see more of the woodland camping. All the best for new year and your lovely wife Joe. All so family and friends.
Nice surprise to come home to your video location looked spot on youngen food looked nice but I'm having nice whisky while I'm watching you cheers Paul will
I'm wondering what fry pans you have tested and recommend. I've also noticed in previous videos you use what seems to be a titanium plate. Would love a video featuring your frying pans and the titanium plate
Good video Paul!! I have considered purchasing a tarp and taking it along with my tent to have both the options , what’s your thoughts ? Last time I used one was my military days which was a while back and was called a Basha ….. very versatile 👍
Gorgeous woodland that mate and an ideal area for a good hammock camp judging by the amount of trees that are spread out. Yeah, I tend to just use 5 knots but like you say if you don't practice them they easily slip from mind. Some top food cooked up for the evening meal Paul and time too with the sausage in a morning is a must isn't it. I do also like that sleeping bag, ones I've had in the past are hard work, you tend to be wrapped up in them and can't find the zip to get out. Santa brought me the amazing Alpkit 600 which I am loving. Its definitely something I know I can trust on a cold night. Cheers pal 👍
Cracking vid Paul. Happy new yr to you and jo. What is the wind shield you used for your trangia. Cracking scran youth and not laying down while cooking for a change lol 🤣🤣 did you have a special time with your sausage 🤣🤣
I am very impressed with that transient alcohol stove and how well you control it and definitely love your cooking. It looks so delicious and it looks to be very healthy. I would say five stars and very amazing.
Sir, how much fuel did you use for cooking the full meal using the Trangia? and approximately how much time did it take for the whole cooking process to complete?
Was you using all the fuel you put in your stove each time? I have just come across your channel and alcohol stoves in general. Can anyone help me. Which is the best fuel to use? Which is the most efficient? Maybe there is a less efficient but better value/cost effective alcohol? Is it even possible to know the amount of burn time you would get from a litre? As a complete noob these are questions that spring to mind. I will continue to do some research but if anyone can help that would be appreciated😅. Love the content, will be binge watching your channel for sure haha
Do you prefer this stove to the calder-cone style you use? If so please tell us why. I thought the burner you used first has less chance of spilling fuel over the trangia?
i'm thinking about adding third pole to the tie chee 2 hehe, across the doors kind of angle, and maybe even doubling up on the two main poles, not so much to make it more bomb proof, but simply to make it less bendy in medium gusts. i wonder if anybody has designed a tent that is two stage collapsable for when the wind is gonna flatten any tent, an emergency mode to get through the night.
Does it take ypu long to make peppers soft and especially the asparagus or is it still crunchy? I find mine takes ages lol longer than chicken as like soft veg 😆
Thanks for the video Paul, quite envious of you getting out there camping this time of year. Can I ask what type of flask you use to carry your bioethanol fuel in? Thanks K
Out of curiosity, how do you manage raw meats whilst hiking? Obviously you can't carry a fridge with you as you go. Do you have some sort of cool bag and freezer blocks or something?
“You can’t beat a bit of quality me time with your sausage” 😂 best one ever 👍
The cheeky bugger is dipping into the Hobbs box of innuendo lol he'll be talking about his chopper next 😆
🤣🤣🤣👍
I'd say it was a double entendre but I'm damned if I can think of the clean meaning...
I just snorted my tea down my nose ! 😂😂
@user-zx7xx8hm8w absolutely lol but Paul is an amateur at innuendo and double entendre and it's great to see. Quality ending!😂 Really enjoyed this Paul. It's good to see that smile back. Hope this is a better year for you.
Thanks for sharing, yet another enjoyable vlog.
~19:47 hope you have plenty of spare O rings.
Take care

Bloody brilliant video Paul and great to see you cooking again. Lovely to start 2023 with one of your new vids! All the best for the new year fella. Be safe 🙏
@AmPaulMessener Paul I'm not sure this is you fella! This might be a scam beware!
A video on your knots you used would be super helpful paul

Enjoyed this one! Nice to see a woodlandy camp
Glad to see you left the mushroom skins on, full of vitamins!
Camping under trees in wind always makes me nervous. I hope my next camp is as relaxed as this
Same here mate. I’ve bailed a camp at 2am because I could hear trees creaking in the wind. It wasn’t ideal but better safe than squashed 😂
You have to check above for potential problems. Haven’t watched your latest video yet Stephen. Will catch up tomorrow
Tarp' needs a centre or off centre pole if it's set high up. A pyramid.

Job done.
Nice to see you back to basics Thanks Paul
Paul you’ve got a new t-shirt slogan there
You can’t beat a bit of quality time with your sausage ,
Amazing job well done ,
Loved this very unassuming video Paul. You will have to do more cooking videos this year as that was a cracker
Your videos are inspirational thank you very much. I have been a subscriber for about 3 days and I already feel like I've learned a lifetime of valuable information.
Great to see some knots
Looks like a fun start to 2023! Sausage looks like a right banger 👍
I always get hungry when I see you cook Paul….great video!
Loved this vid. Looks so relaxing and so did you, which is great! Nice FL2 as well!

I do love a good tent/tarp setup. Especially living and camping in Scotland! This looks epic.
Your cooking made me hungry. Looked delicious.
Nice one. Been waiting to see you use the x-boil for some more, making me even more tempted to get one. Keep up the great work Paul!
Love camping in the rain, nothing better.
Okay Snow would be better but I can't see that happening in my Naturehike star river 🤣
Love it Alan
Wow more food videos on the go Paul that looked amazing I'm sitting here starving
Reminds me of Kent Survival the intro 🙂
That meal looks delicious!
I didn’t know you were a Landy man Paul. Like you even more now mate 😂👍🏽

Great camp! 🏕️ I enjoy watching the more woodlandish type videos. Better cooks seems a bit more relaxing. ❤️🤙🏽

Definitely slogan material 😂 happy new year 🥳
Haha love the sausage joke 🤣
Hi Paul. Great video as always. Please could you share the link for the pocket sized LED panel light ?
That's why all my bags are the DYO s bags by PHD in wide size
Fantastic and a great inspiration to kick off the new year - guessing you were on the nice list this Christmas fella as you had some great gifts.👍
Fantastic video,,proper camping 😀
Great vid Paul. I bought the XBoil system after I saw one of your vids on it and it's great. I've enjoyed seeing you get out into the woods just for the headspace mate. Top stuff. Look after yourself. 👍

You could cook for me anytime Paul, but I'm not sure I'd want that tent in anything above a light breeze!
There was me thinking "well done Paul, you didn't go for the obvious gag about the ribbed cup" and then you had to spoil it with the sausage gag at the end. 🤣🤣🤣

Hi. What kind of lamp is that in 7:09? Thanks!
Very impressive tarp set up, seriously man 👍👌
Thanks.
I almost spat my drink out Paul "Quality time with your Sausage" :)
Nice surprise to come home to your video location looked spot on youngen food looked nice but I'm having nice whisky while I'm watching you cheers Paul will

Dinner looked delicious. HAPPIEST OF NEW YEAR SIR
Cracking vid Paul. Happy new yr to you and jo. What is the wind shield you used for your trangia. Cracking scran youth and not laying down while cooking for a change lol 🤣🤣 did you have a special time with your sausage 🤣🤣
Hi not sure this is you . Text me on telegram ??
Hi. LIKE. LIKE. WATCHING. CAMPING. VIDEO.
Didn’t need to pull the Ridgeline through at the start mate, just pop a stick through instead 😊
Great vid as ever mate
Nice video
I always store the Flexipump with my mat
What knife is that?
Looks interesting
Practise golf balls couple £"🤠, you're an intriguing inventive, bloke"great sharing can't wait to buy my first light"Camp Bum-Chute*🌅
I am very impressed with that transient alcohol stove and how well you control it and definitely love your cooking. It looks so delicious and it looks to be very healthy. I would say five stars and very amazing.
For me the most relaxing way to camp paul loved it marra cheers and all the best 👍 😀 🏕
Brilliant video been watching your channel for a long time and this one was great 👍
Not sure if someone is messing with your comments but I got this message
Sir, how much fuel did you use for cooking the full meal using the Trangia? and approximately how much time did it take for the whole cooking process to complete?
Great vid! Sausage!
Hey Paul, how come you go with the Toaks mug as opposed to the Lixada mug as a lot cheaper
Great video mate, love that sleeping bag. 👌
The dureX mug cool it - ribbed.
What was the name of the little light again Paul?
can`t beat a bit o` quality "meat" time with your sosig , great vid yet again Paul , by Christ you eat like a king man!!

Looks like a great camping trip. What boots are you wearing?
Happy new year.hows the van coming along I have not seen any videos on it for ages now
Van was used loads last year but not filmed any of it. It hasn’t changed much other than an awning
Nice one Paul
The food looked perfecto 👏👌
Happy New Year
Cheers Graham
Thanks for the Video always appreciated!! Wondering if you have ever tried a Nortent brand tent?
Hi Paul, another great video, which frying pan was you using,?
I'd love to know where that is you camped paul, plus apart from it sounding windy you must have slept great.
Do you prefer this stove to the calder-cone style you use? If so please tell us why. I thought the burner you used first has less chance of spilling fuel over the trangia?
caldera style my favourite
Great little spot that mate
i'm thinking about adding third pole to the tie chee 2 hehe, across the doors kind of angle, and maybe even doubling up on the two main poles, not so much to make it more bomb proof, but simply to make it less bendy in medium gusts. i wonder if anybody has designed a tent that is two stage collapsable for when the wind is gonna flatten any tent, an emergency mode to get through the night.
Say what you like about all those other packs Paul, but the old Exos is still King in my opinion 🙂
Does it take ypu long to make peppers soft and especially the asparagus or is it still crunchy? I find mine takes ages lol longer than chicken as like soft veg 😆
I like a bit of crunch. 😂
@PaulMessner oooh I say lol bugger I get my veg on the day before the meat lol 😆
Boil it takes way less time and leave it in the water while you cook your meat. If you like soft veg then frying is the wrong tol for the job
i'm excited to camp soon
Happy days 👍
You get a like just for the "sausaaaaaaaage" at the end lol
How far did you treck in Paul.
What backpack you using these days paul
Ooooh er 😮 ribbed version 🤣🤣🤣 great vid mate 👌 what fuel do you use on your Trangia ?
Smashing it paul 👍
Thanks for the video Paul, quite envious of you getting out there camping this time of year.
Can I ask what type of flask you use to carry your bioethanol fuel in?
Thanks K
Out of curiosity, how do you manage raw meats whilst hiking? Obviously you can't carry a fridge with you as you go. Do you have some sort of cool bag and freezer blocks or something?
Paul, just wanna to ask about the x boil, is it able to use the trangia stove with 3 mini stand?
Sausage :)
Nice campout Paul, a bit of quality "Me time" is always important:)
Cheers Sandy. It was great to catch up with you this morning Look forward to joining you on a camp this year.
