Interesting and helpful. 3 suggestions: 1. Fit the little BMW logo before you assemble the key... that way you are not pressing down hard on the micro-switch on the circuit board underneath. 2. Change the battery for a fresh one while it is opened. 3. Change the music for something better. Also, working on a bench must be easier and safer than out in the driveway on concrete, especially the way you are fighting with that not-so-safety knife :D

CORRECTION, after two hours I got it, BUT not with a knife, but a angled 3/4 CHISEL I kept pushing down and the side where the extra key sticks into, the little whole next to it is where it broke! And it is safe because it will not hit the chip, so, with a 3/4 angled chisel push down and kneel it into the little extra whole space, right next to the spare long door key, and it should pop there first, then work it to the front and it will come off no problem.
it has to be a rechargeable accu, not a battery. A battery wil last only few weeks. The accu will be charged by a induction coil what is mounted around the key lock.
I actually got it, I really hurt the shell of the key case but then again I was installing the new one, it does work but you just have to be very careful!

I just called the dealer and they said two days to order a new one, they said nothing about the battery. Thanks for saving me the time and money

Hello so I did not have the battery part just the chip, so you have to pry it open with a sharp tool, since there is no other way.
