2001 SUZUKI RM125 Classic Motocross Review

- This is a look back at Suzuki's all-new RM125 motocrosser for 2001. This is the first year for the design that would become the last for Suzuki's legendary 125 machine. This machine would take Travis Pastrana to the 2001 125 East Supercross title and almost power him to a second 125 national outdoor title before a series of concussions derailed his title defense.

I just bought an 01 rm125 running for 800 bucks! gonna do a complete tear down and build. first dirtbike build. I'm stoked!
What state? That's dope I see a 98 in Cali for 2300 obo and nobody is biting but it supposedly is already rebuilt. I ended up getting an 01 CR125 instead.
@@jpesicka999 florida. Guy I work with. Bike is stripped now. Got busy with side work. Next is clean the frame and send for powder coat. Parts are stacking up in the closet. Practically have a bike in there! Good luck with yours! Debating if it's worth it for a big bore kit.
We love your reviews Tony!
Thanks
@@TheMotocrossVault yeaaa man, it help us so much which bike to choose
Blazer, l owned Suzuki 2001 RM125, and it was definitely the best DirtBike that l ever owned.... Something magic about this Model 2001 Suzuki RM125, and the only flaw about the 2001 Suzuki RM125 are the transmission shift forks..
Tony, thanks for devoting this video to only 2001 Suzuki RM125 👍
My favorite race bike of all time was the 01 RM 125. That bike was good at everything and I was faster on it than my yz400f! The only downside was the durability of the machine, I recall going through several clutches and cylinders (due to porous casting) in one season. Still one of the best overall 125s in my opinion.
I had a 02 of these...maybe the best bike o ever had, it was feeling and handling so good everywhere at the Track.
That blue and yellow no fear gear pastrana has on around the 14:30 mark is awesome, 🔥
Thanks for this! Really took me back. I had an 00 when I was 13 and was so envious when the 01’s came out lol.
Had a 93 and an 01, both great bikes. The 93 was my first full-size bike and I loved it. The 01 was so good at the time and was really confidence inspiring. Love the last generation RM’s.
Why no recent videos?
Motofarm mx they’re coming, we’ve been busy with the main channel
yes got also an 94' 250 an a 03' who's an beast!
I agree they nailed the last generration RMs. I loved my buddys 05 rm250 it handled great, was light and had power everywhere. almost felt like a 4 stroke the way you could lug it a gear
My first new bike was the 2001 rm125 and i absolutely loved it. I rode it till the wheels fell off.
My kids had a 2004 RM125 and that was one of the best bikes ever. Super dependable and a rocket.
Great video man! Thanks.had 2 rm 125s over the last 30 years great bikes for sure. Can’t wait for the next video
Thanks!
It was a great looking machine. The decline of Suzuki through the years is sad. Good one Tony B.
They seem to be done in bike market all around. Thankfully KTM is powering on.
Boy you sure do your research Tony! Been binge watching all your vids. Subscribed
Thanks
Everybody has a soft spot for Suzuki.
Well you have to be soft to own a Suzuki
@@rapscallion3421 The reason you attempt passive aggressive insults on the internet is a combination of factors. Primarily, it is your insecurity and your intellectual capacity. I didn't feel very soft when I raced, rode bulls or served in the military to protect your right to douchebaggery. Also, nowhere does it say I owned a Suzuki, your insecurity created that narrative.. Grow up.
Do the 93 next
Thanks for a great video
Great review as usual!
Please consider doing a review of the 60cc bikes of the 80's. At one time there was a cr, yz, rm, and kx 60's. Alot of pro riders started on these bikes. Thanks
Noted!
My uncle had a 85 cr60. Bike was dope
Would love to see a review on the yamaha it175 and it200
Definitely do a pe
e 175 and 250 review I own an 80 rs250 and it's a blast!!!
all understood!! got an 03' 250 a true beast!!
Hi Tony! Please, one video of the lasts RM 250!! Thanks!!
Noted!
And the last of the 125s
thining about getting a 01 did this generation have water pump on the outside or in between the cases?
Can you do a video on the history of the cr125?
Just bought a mint 2001 rm125!
And, do you like it?
I liked the RMs just before this a lot never rode an 01+ 125 but rode a few 05-06 RM250s but I know those were YZ clones built for Ricky this bike was made for Travis.
If suzuki relanunch!!! Im a ready teddy! Suzuki kicks ass imo
I am getting a 2001 suzuki rm125 this weekend
And is it good?
Was there much change from the 2001 to the last production model?
2004 on engine of course suspension basically flat-lined due to the 4 strokes (NASCAR)
5:54 Is that a model kit?
Can you tell what the difference is between this and The 08
Suspension, and different cylinder porting. The 08 is a much faster bike
From 2001 to 2008, the RM was more CR than the CR. The Suzuki RM 2t of the period is Honda-esque....kind of mid 90s CR and that is not a criticism.
Tony, have you heard anything about new management at Suzuki, and that this new manager is pro-motocross?....so hopefully Suzuki can start looking more seriously at keeping their bikes updated. I think Suzuki has been concentrating on selling daily commute bikes and cars in India!! Not mx though :-(
I have not and I am greatly worried for them going forward
KTM 360 or/and 380 next
Blows my mind how much effort they put into changing every little detail to try to be competitive and now they just leave em be year after year.....look at the poor RM 85. It’s been the same so many years. No reason they can’t put a few bucks into it and raise it up a notch. Sad.
Sad times for a historic brand indeed
I have the 96 RM125 it's my favourite Dirt bike
Hi daddy
Hi Sugar love you
My buddy in high school had one of these I remember how good it cornered and was decently fast but man what a piece of shit. The new yellow they used faded after a month the CDI box went out (twice) after a month and the seat was so soft i could remember cornering on it and feeling the subframe through the seat. The bike wore out super fast too the levers would flop around the frame stretched out causing bolts to fall out and he was only a mid pack C rider
Same memories here buddy had this i had a 01 cr. The cr was built 100 times better than the rm.
*KTM* is where it is at now and/or EURO as they are the only only ones developing 2 strokes.
Yamaha is European?
