    So... I literally just watched 1 minute of this and subscribed. The alg. suggested you... so you must be doing something right. Hang in there.

      Thank you so much! I have new stuff to come. But I am not the fastest in making videos. Need to ask for your patience.

    This video is too good for the low number of likes. YT must have a HIGH PASS FILTER on it. 👍 dialed to 11

      Yeah, sorry, daily life occupied my attention. I will continue, but I cannot promise about the frequency. Thanks for your patience.

    Thank you very much for sharing. It's fruitful! I got a question about state variable VCF, I saw 3 CVs input from schematic, but only 2 CVs for Freq on your panel, any particular reason?

    • @TOILmodular
      @TOILmodular  Рік тому +2

      Actually, you can add as many as you like. The CV signal is just adding up. In the end it is a question of how many CV inputs are needed and practical, and (more important) how much space you have on the front panel.

    Great stuff, wouldn't mind learning to make one of these. I particularly like the MS20 filter. I also have a thing for the System 100/SH-5 filter, but don't think there is a DIY version of this. I know it's a Diode Ladder filter, and G-Storm make a replica called SH5-VCF. It is very expensive and unfortunately out of stock!

      Thank you. If you need more details for building the MS20, you can find some information from my Github. Take a look at my other video about the OTA VCF.

    Thanks! Any SMT (SMD) edition of OTA PCB? Would like to build that this week.

      You can check out my GitHub: github.com/TOILmodular/EurorackOTAVCF. At least the ICs are SMD. Other components are THT.

    Yusynth has a version of the transistor ladder vcf using a CA3046 or 3086?! transistor array.
    I have built a few of these filter but not tested them yet ….
    Edit. When I was checking my Polivoks I couldn’t locate the filter caps, but it’s the chips that have odd frequency behavior - no caps needed.

      Unfortunately, my local shop does not offer those ICs. I would have to order them somewhere online. I mainly try to build modules with components, which I find directly in the shop.

    hopefully quick question, but regarding the polivoks vcf, what did you do about the original Russian ICs K140UD12?
    i cannot find the part, or an equivalent in regular IC form? did you use an alternative?
    please excuse my ignorance on this.
    also, did you build V1 or V2? i can only find the BOM for V1, but since there is a polivoks V2, i wonder

    • @TOILmodular
      @TOILmodular  2 місяці тому

      Actually, I did not use any original Polivoks schematics for that module. I found all the details at the DIY GitHub from Erica Synths. The link is in the video description. No idea, which version that was, sorry. But the Erica Synths version does not require those rare old components. Might be not as good as the original, but I have no way to compare. Anyhow, that filter did not turn out to be one of my favorites.

      @@TOILmodular thats the link i followed. the polivoks BOM (from the github) has the part K140UD12. which is pretty much only available from ES directly, and 3-U shop. so did you buy this part from them? or what did you use instead?

    • @TOILmodular
      @TOILmodular  2 місяці тому

      You are right. Too long ago, since I built that module. Forgot it. I checked by stuff once more. Looks like I used an NJM4250 IC instead. Don't ask me why. I do not remember anymore. But I think, if you want to build it with the original IC, you can get it at Erica Synths directly.

  • @samelec-cl7nw
    @samelec-cl7nw 2 місяці тому

    sry once more, but i'm in the process of collecting all the materials from all BOMs you listed, to decide for myself what to build first. however, i will not be using finished PCBs, therefore i'm trying to find all through hole component equivalents for protoboard. i see/it seems that you used only through-hole components for this build, however the BOM has so many SMD parts, many of which i cannot find a direct through hole equivalent to, to the point that i wonder if you had access to another BOM/circuit? 😅
    unless SMD components are soldered on the back of the PCB?

    • @TOILmodular
      @TOILmodular  2 місяці тому

      That's interesting. As I mentioned in the video, I had difficulties with that module. It just does not work properly. Now that you mentioned those Ceradiodes, I checked the MI documentation once more. For my module build, I just followed the schematic, I did not check the BOM at all. And I actually cannot find those diodes D9-D14 anywhere in the schematic. Maybe that is the reason why my module is not working properly. Can it be that the schematic is incomplete? Can you find those diodes in the schematic?

    • @samelec-cl7nw
      @samelec-cl7nw 2 місяці тому

      @@TOILmodular i must admit, i'm a total noob with this still, i barely know the basics of schematics. i was just gathering all components used to a) decide what to build first and b) get an understanding of general components being used for most builds, so i can order components properly.
      that being said, after you pointed it out, i played "where's waldo" with the schematic and i also could not find the ceradiodes.
      guess i'll also stay away from it for now

    too bad a dry signal without reverb would make a stronger statement

      I see your point. Guess, I am too much in love with reverb. Anyway, it was more fun this way.

      Agree. For a good comparison with/without would have been helpful, but this is a great resource all the same, thanks for providing it, especially the recommendations.
