I approve of your choice of fuel
Shuffle off
@@ellenorbjornsdottir1166 well you've got one heck of a nerve.
@@hankhill4254 Methane is objectively superior, even for your yee-yee gas truck; it runs at a lower pressure, reducing the risk of leaks, and it costs half as much per gallon propane equivalent.
@@ellenorbjornsdottir1166 Methane is a bastard gas.
@@ellenorbjornsdottir1166 Well son Methane in its gas form is an asphyxiation. You might have heard that word before. Now that means that in high concentrations, it may displace the oxygen supply you need for breathing, particularly in confined spaces like the inspection pit in my garage. Yep, I tell you hwat. And even worse, decreased oxygen can cause suffocation and loss of consciousness. It can also cause a whole heap of bad stuff like headache, dizziness, weakness, nausea, vomiting, and loss of coordination. Now you ain't tellin' me you want to be put at risk of any of that. So son, I consider it a bastard gas right along with Butane.
Never dreamed I'd find pipe cutting and threading so interesting
She seems genuinely excited and thankful for her new stove. I'm happy for her, great job Richard and Bryan! :)
Propane can have that effect.
I like the way they've future proof by the gas line installing a t-joint for a gas water heater.
Most plumbers I know would totally skip that if they can save even a penny.
code here would fail them on the spot for that. They dont want you to be able to install an additional device without a permit so easily.
The outside pipes being redirected to run right up against the wall and not hang off by an inch was a nice touch. I appreciate attention to detail like that.
Propane and propane accessories
@khalil taylor I tell ya hwat
Dang it bah-bee
Yep.
Hank: I sell Propane and Propane Accessories.
I can appreciate Rich's priorities by wanting to know what's for dinner before he starts to work.
I laughed when he was drilling the pilot hole in the floor and the video cuts to the other guy staring up at the hole with no safety glasses on 🤣 I have ptsd from getting saw dust in my eye doing the same thing lol
Hey Brian you are going to be on TV today so please grab your cleanest uniform and make sure its ironed!
I'm always impressed by United States high quality and safe constructions, from gas pipes to the range burners.
We make your country look like Africa
Lol what?
I'm not falling for that one, they removed the stove and cleaned and put it back before they did this. No way would it look like that after 12 years. It was spotless back there.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Not even a single dust ball after 12 years. No way.
Wouldn't there be a 220V outlet back there instead of a 110V? I think the electric stove was a decoy.
Bill Magsamen
There was both back there, 220 and house current.
Maxid1 Ah, yes- I missed it the first time.
tv is fake.
Hank hill would be so proud !! 👍🏻👌🏻
Propane is the best grill fuel
Propane - a gift to us from God Himself.
@@hankhill4254 I agree lol 😂
That's exactly what I want done , love how everything was explained clearly.
Richard did an excellent job on the run of the pipes. It was very professional and clean.
Probably one of the best videos on UA-cam very informative. Great job guys.
The floor behind the stove is cleaner than my entire apartment.
Better clean that apartment man.

@@treedeblue breath taking I imagine...
Mine is just the opposite, last owner left a dead mouse. It hadn't been cleaned in years!
Should have put in an induction stove. They've been popular in Europe for decades. Basically its an electric stove but instead of using an electric heat element, it uses a giant magnet to vibrate the iron particles in your pot/pan, that is what heats it up. You can take the pot off and then put your hand directly on the "burner" and it might be warm from the heat of the pan, but it won't burn you. Seriously they are amazing tech if you never used one, gives you the same control as a gas stove, can boil a pot of water in under a minute. Would have been way cheaper in this case, lot of labor/expense to install that propane tank.
I install high end and regular appliances for a living and those guys knows exactly what they are doing , quick , planned , boom installed , only thing is , I am very worried about this micro wave hood for gas , I would tare this down and put a slim 5inch thick hood at least 600cfm , and must be atleast 26inch from the stove for gas
Other wise those guys kinda reminded me of me and my partner haha
This channel is way better then that DIY channel where everything in his house is poorly installed
"Other wise those guys kinda reminded me of me and my partner haha"
What does you being gay have to do with anything?
Hi there I'm in Europe do you have any idea what is the brand of the stove I like the idea that is double thanks again
"Honey, the dinner guests want to come an hour early, is that okay?" "No can do, I need to clean behind the stove!" --This Lady. Actually, why it's so clean before they arrive is because I bet someone came by and installed the 110v outlet before this old house showed up. It's also in the right location for the gas stove to fit tight against the wall.

Old?
Brian got no time for games. " hey brian what are you doing?" Brian: "leak test"
Rich: "how lon"
Brian: "10 minutes!"
Wow I love this idea as it takes load off the electrical panel
you should of also went over the conversion the range from ng to propane
In a different video they did
you can buy gas appliances already set up for either one.
What about changing the orifices in each burner ? Usually its set up for street gas and you have to use orifices made for propane.
Yeah it seems like they didn't convert it from Natural gas to LP ....
Maybe they did it of screen or bought a propane stove but definitely feel like they should’ve said something about it cause some people might not know
@@Vanilla_Icecream1231 Well, there's no way a homeowner can do this job and any licensed gas plumber would know to convert it from NG to LP.
@@tier3rd375 I know but some people might buy a natural gas one not knowing until the gas technician or plumber arrives
What an excellent teaching / informative video. Thank you!
You will also need a propane conversion kit for your gas stove. If you skip that step you'll have flames shooting 6 or 7 inches above your burners...
That sounds like fun!
Code should also state, "cant be installed on mulch", which breaks down
Its on a concrete block.
WOW the floor and wall behind that stove was SPOTLESS!!!! WHAT ARE THE CHANCES??? :P
thats surprisingly that their was a 125V outlet next to the 220V plug for the electric stove! the house must have been built with the intention of any stoves to be instaled
GREAT EASY-TO-FOLLOW DEMONSTRATION !!!!!
THANKS AND GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU GUYS AND DENISE ALSO!!!
OMG she picked out the same stove that I bought last year! Good choice...
What brand is this?
Excellent video - clear, to the point.
I wish they would do these home improvements on old houses down here in the South like Florida, where we have concrete slabs and have extra codes due to hurricanes.
I love her voice!
My grandma has an electric range on her counter that's a flat surface, as well as having an infrared cooker.....it has more "control" than that antique style coil based thing lol. Plus electric ranges are nice in which you don't scorch the bottom of the pots and pans.

I wish there was a TOH tshirt that had a cartoony/caricature of Tom Silva with a word bubble saying “the biggest concern I have is safety” on the front and “and 4 inches matters” on the back 😂😂
If it were me, I would bury a 1,000 gallon tank and switch to a gas tankless water heater and gas central heat as well. I might also switch to a gas dryer.
@@billybob042665 More in the short term you mean. Propane is way cheaper than electricity in the long run.
Mark is ignorant. I would recommend a propane stove, oven, furnace, dryer and water heater anyday.
@@billybob042665 Where I live, propane costs about 5¢ per kwh equivalent and electricity costs 11.72¢ per kwh.
I literally just learned how to install a kitchen! 😮
That guy is like a robot lmao.. And the lady sounds like the mom from Matilda...
Shake and bake
You take that back.
He’s just camera shy
Oh my wife would go nuts if she saw tools on counters.
I use a tee when making a 90 turn and cap off the opening I'm not using. If someone ever wants to add another gas appliance or heater it is much easier with a tee installed already.
If you pause the video at 7:29 you see that they did that.
jollyandwaylo the put in a tee..short nipple and a Shutoff..ready to go.
Is the exhaust hood vented to the exterior of the home? It did not need to be with an electric cook-top but it must be with gas. That should have been mentioned...
Since when? Plenty of homes around with un-vented hoods. They recirculate the air in the home. Not really effective at removing smoke at all, though. In my area it is 90%+ gas if not higher, and so many homes have those above range microwaves where it just circulates the air. Builders are often lazy and don't vent to the outside, so it also cannot be converted easily.
What sealant would you use to block off the sides and back of the range?
Would silicone work or do you need some other high-temp resistant sealant?
I would've have use a longer supply line/gas flexible line so tenants could be able to pull the stove in case of an emergency or for cleaning behind
sure makes things easy when your house has a basement. We have slab on grade here and you either need to go in the attic or give up.
The script to this video is stellar
I love propane!
Legend has it that the gas stove is still on
I’m so glad the newer vids aren’t like an imfolmertial
i noticed they didn't have a condensate drip area in the gas line. do you need one for LPG?
no need to call names. he was just asking a question.
Yes, it was either not included or not shown
I love that in North America there is no variety of products for gas pipelines being that in the rest of America there are specialized tubes and connectors that connect directly to the public network
I'm convinced Brian is a cybernetic organism. Possibly, a Terminator.
Might as well install a Filterless range hood at this moment
Did she say "thank you guy" at the end lol
forgot to mention change the gas valve orifice...propane is around 10 inch water column....natural gas is 3-4 inch.. you wanna see a flamethrower?
Maybe the stove was designed to run on propane and didn't need the conversion?
"And no one ate dinner that night..."

Can someone explain why he doesn't run the gas line in copper? It would be so much easier quicker and look better
not allowed in MA, have to be black iron
As usual no one does it or explains it better than Richard !!
PERFECT, THANK YOU!
Brian is on it good work
2: 57 Love how she said ''bottom''
She sounded like Carla from cheers!
I'm also aware that sometimes the nozzles on each burner needs to be replaced is your going to use it for L.P which in this case it is liquid propane.
Actually they always need to be changed if going from Gas to LP. On each burner, the oven, and the broiler. Also need to flip the oriface on the pressure relief valve. They skipped all the fun stuff. lol
That's one hell of a small propane tank.
Rag on a screw driver to clean oil out of the inside of the pipe. Standard practice.
Was this stove set up for propane at the factory? Normally, the orifice tube needs to be changed for propane.
many do not and some comments on that but have seen come from factory Propane.
I do like electric stoves although takes a while to cool the coil it is eco friendly unlike Gas stoves!
Love this video, but shouldn’t each appliance have its own gas regulator? Watched it trying to find out if I need a drip line and/or Dirt trap for my propane continuous water heater...
I suggest people hire professionals who know the code and the safety reasons for the code. I've seen This Old House make mistakes that can make a person ill or worse.
In this video, they should have gone over how a vent is needed that exhausts from over the range to the exterior of the house, and to use it even if just the oven is in use. That would remove toxic Carbon Monoxide and other pollutants.
Some vents look like they do, yet really just blow the air back into the room through a cheap, ineffective filter.
Appliances have built in regulators.
You can also install induction oven.
I own and run a small gas service/Installation company with several employees, but i used to do service myself. Clean installation, but not to mention the need of an integral regulator at the tank despite the built in in the stove that only holds 1 psi you got to notice that a manometer test at 9 to 11 inches at the water column should be done with the valve at the tank closed, but with your appliance shut off valve open after all your connections had been done. you are not only testing the integrity of your just ran lines, but your regulator at the tank, your finally installed flex connector at the stove and the stove itself for leaks. There are several safety violations on that video, good demonstration on how to run pipes though.
Have they ever done anything in a house that doesn't have either a basement or a crawlspace?
I swear if they ever tried to work on a house with a slab foundation, they wouldn't know what to do.
water under slab, in warmer climates have seen in attic, but gas in attic for slab foundations many times around here, along with the furnace/AC and have seen a water heater in an attic. of course one gas add on pipe underground from outside tank up wall right behind stove and came thru wall.
Missing steps:
1. Install a 120 volt outlet. If the kitchen was built for electric, that outlet would not have been there already.
2. Clean behind the old stove. There's no way it would have been spotless like that.
3. Set up the appliance for propane. This involves changing the nozzles on each burner and the regulator near the gas inlet.
4. The gas pipe needs to be bonded to the home's electrical ground in order to pass inspection.
Also I wouldn't want to eat lasagna made in that tiny second oven. There's not enough room for steam to vent out and it would be soggy.
geez
gas pipe is bonding thru the appliance
That isn't code. Unplugging the appliance would unbond the gas line. It is permissible to bond a single-appliance gas line through the appliance circuit, but not with a plug. It has to be a hard bond.
@@igfoobar Really.....show me the code....you wont find it
@@bkoz319 Sure. Here it is:
"250.104(B) Other Metal Piping. If installed in, or attached to, a building or structure, a metal piping system(s), including gas piping, that is likely to become energized shall be bonded to the service equipment enclosure; the grounded conductor at the service; the grounding electrode conductor, if of sufficient size; or to one or more grounding electrodes used. The bonding conductor(s) or jumper(s) shall be sized in accordance with 250.122, using the rating of the circuit that is likely to energize the piping system(s). The equipment grounding conductor for the circuit that is likely to energize the piping shall be permitted to serve as the bonding means. The points of attachment of the bonding jumper(s) shall be accessible."
It clearly says THE EQUIPMENT GROUNDING CONDUCTOR FOR THE CIRCUIT. It says nothing about an appliance, which may or may not be plugged in, acting as the inter system bond. In my home, for example, I have a gas service that enters the house in the exterior wall of the kitchen. It is bonded to the CIRCUIT of the outlet to which the gas stove is attached. Not to the appliance itself. Not through the ground pin of the plug. There is a #6 wire bonding the gas and electric services, and that bond remains in place even if I were to disconnect the stove from either or both services.
This is by-the-book (literally) service bonding, and every gasfitter and electrician knows it.
"Absolutely."
Glass stoves or cooktops are MUCH better than gas stoves , I have an electric stove and I like it
Totally agree!
No mention of changing the stove orifice to convert from natural gas to propane.
To be fair that's gonna be in the stove instructions.
Or maybe the stove was designed from the outset to use propane and didn't need the conversion.
I read in my LG Propane Oven User Manual that the burner flame should be all blue and no yellow.
Number Space mostly blue..slight tinge of yellow is ok.
Have you heard about welding the pipes???
And why dont you use the teflon tape? Its perfect for diameters 1/2"-3/4"
Станислав Горгаз Never saw it welded in residential applications. Preference...I like pipe dope.
nice video !!
So no regulator coming off the tank?
I hooked mine up and lit it with no exterior regulator but just the one in the stove, and the pilots would get smaller when a burner was lit. I could light the oven, but it wouldn’t stay lit.
The lp stove was second hand. I wonder if something crawled in the pipes of the stove.
Pressure is very high in the pipe.
Great footage
Brian was ready for his opening lol he put that tank down fast on cue
in our home the supplier gave us a vertical tank approx. 48" tall x 14" dia.. it stand on two concrete blocks on earth.
Do you recommend that I anchor a pair of hooks and a length of chain around maybe half way up to secure. the tank from tipping. The service line into the home is 1/2 copper after the PRV with nothing secured.
It can't hurt and if it makes you fell better, then by all means do it.
Awesome, come do mine please. I so dislike our electric range. We have city natural gas right outside the wall where the electric range is located.
Is there code to install exhaust hood when using gas stove?
I noticed he didn't install a drip cap when the pipe turned to go to the stove. Is that because it's propane from a sealed tank? He mentioned in the episode when he hooked up the natural gas grill that you should always install a drip cap. Now I take that should does not imply (or infer which ever one it is) that it is mandatory or code.
drip leg not required for ranges
You guys do good work
They DID NOT bother with the NG to Propane Conversion Process. I thought ALL gas ranges came setup for natural gas and needed to be converted (regulator, jets, oven air vents and burner fine tuning to enable the use of propane,
Good job I’m
This is actually a dual fuel cooker stove since the ovens are electric but the hob is gas
When did they do that final leak test on the flex pipe?
They pulled back out the stove after they got the camera shot of them pushing it in, and tested it.
I would have preferred the flexible pipe behind the stove to be longer than that. Just incase the unit needs service. 1 tech should be able to pull it forward and do the job instead of tilting it like the had to make the final connections.
Exelent work i have gas range but not can find hose for install on thel lp tank you know how made these
Tight space in back doing the final connection. You might want to lose some weight before unless you can magically levitate to get out.
Where did you install her CO alarm?
Has no one heard of induction? Yeah you need to buy magnetic cookware, but then you have the most adjustable and safest cooktop.
No mention of the change of orifice for propane versus natural gas. Was that required?
Probably. Most are setup for NG from factory. But the stove will come with both.
The only thing I didn't see was adding an electrical outlet and most stoves come equipped for natural gas requiring an LP conversion kit.
from start to finish. What is the typical charge for LP installation, and how much for refill service?
I need to do that at my house 🏠
I thought you had to have a different stove for gas and propane?
Typically, there's a conversion kit for natural gas to propane. Utilizing the same stove. And in most instances, you'll need to have an electrician installed 120 volt outlet to accommodate the oven light and temperature / clock display.
