Quik always gave me more interest towards his music than ANY other Compton rapper... I remember growing up in the same neighborhood with him at Browning, always having barbecues, parties, and just nothing but good vibes. It was dope.
Quik was one of the first rappers I heard when I was a toddler in Pre-K, even though I'm on the east coast, thing is the only reason the older kids listened to him was because he was a Piru and they were People's, it' was a stupid reason (of gang affiliation determining who u listen to) but it led me on a path of hip hop love.

"...it's right here in the dead-end through underground tapes. That's how it started & that's how I'ma finish it." Words to live by, eloquently spoken, Quik.
Quik is probably my favorite producer. I lived in SoCal (Gardena) for about 30 years. Bought my first home in Long Beach. I've been in Houston, TX now for 5 years and when I saw Christine Divine and heard her voice, I had instant flashbacks to when I lived back in my hometown.
Does anyone know what year this is from? 95-96? It's funny. I noticed that there was a degree of maturity in rapper's of the 90s; not just with Quik, but also with Pac, Biggie, Scarface and just about every other rapper from that era. Not just with maturity, but also a degree of consciousness.
th3azscorpio Dem Niggas came up in the crack era as teenagers you couldn't image the things them guys seen..... shit like that makes you grow up REAL ya know.....
I'm from back in the days and a hardcore Metal fan and to me Quik is one few realist artist .I introduced a whole small town in Mexico back in 1993 to his song Black P###y and they loved it.
Rick Harding why not, think these rappers were born this age? They went to school too and had teachers And what makes you think their teachers didnt have kids who today use YT lol
Why the fuck did rappers verbalizing devolve? I've been binge watchin a lot of interviews and shit of rappers from my youth, late 80' - late 90's and they all speak in a manner everyone can understand. Sure it's peppered with a lot of street slang and ebonics but bottom line it's distinct, clear and intelligible. Not a bunch of gargle slurring mumbles with, "ya feel me?" or "know what um sayin?" and a few others, at the end of every sentence. Sometimes not even at the end. Half way through waht they are tryin to say they'll drop a "feel me?" then at the end they'll drop it again! What the fuck? The devolution of rappers, rap and the craft.
Wow. Quik always came off to me as a decent dude. After seeing this I respect him more than any other rapper being a white guy that generally hates rap and the foolishness and hate that come from most of it. Need more Quik type people ;)
