Today I wanted to talk about a fish that I usually don't mention on my channel.
Silver dollars are a great school fish option for larger 'monster fish tanks' and can create some great shimmer and activity in tanks with large cichlids such as Oscars, Jaguars, Jack Dempsey's and much more.

ive never seen fish school as tightly as silver dollar's. most other schooling fish spread out once they realise there is no threat but my silver dollars will school 99% of the time.
Any and all plants is right. They destroyed the plants in my 125 but they are the most amazing fish. So beautiful

Ive used many times a dither fish . Great with larger fish nothing seems to bother them
These are one of my favorites of the larger fish. I've kept several types but my favorite was the red hook. I have not kept these striped ones and they have been on my bucket list for awhile. They are certainly vigorous eaters and plant annihilators. They have intelligent eyes and the way they shine as they school is just beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Luv them silver dollars! Once I bought 5 silver dollars but one of them outgrew the rest and I was wondering why it Kinda looked different lol I went back to the local fish store 🐠 showed the picture to them and they said the larger one is a Pacu 😂it grew so large and scary I released it into the large pond near my home lol

I have 3 spotted Silver Dollars with my 2 Oscars and they're awesome! I've never seen the striped one's though.. Very cool..

I have 3 with my 2 Oscar’s also and I feel their high energy level is keeping my Oscar’s from relaxing, and overall making the Oscar’s irritable
I have 2! Dolla & Penny one is more grumpy than the other. They are so fiesty when they are going for food but they don’t bother the other fish. I have them with Tetras and Goldfish n the goldfish love to cuddle them which I know they don’t like lol but again one is more friendly which makes the other nicer at times lol
They have blacks spots and red and black on their tails. They are about 3 yrs old.
I don’t know if they are girls or boys that’s the only thing :s
The black spots usually is an indication of good conditioning and readiness to breed, so great job! I believe 2 spots means male and 1 means female but I may be corrected on that one.

Awesome video just wondering if they eat pellet beef also, I could sure use these for my aggressive 300 gallon.
They will eat it but they also need some veg in the diet

Theyll eat anything. 70% veg 30% meaty foods
My Silver dollars are hooked on Blood worms! I’ve tried every food suggested. From shelled peas, lettuce, zucchini, etc but they only go for blood worms. Is this bad for them on the long run?
Yeah its not good long term, try soaking some pellets or other foods in bloodworm "juice" or mix up some repashy with the juice

My silver dollar sleeps slanted is it ok? Its like on the bottom of the
Tank and sleeping I think its sleeping
It might have a slight swim bladder issue. Perhaps it is eating too much protein

@@abizerbastawala3627 its a difficult think to treat. If it happens again you could try feeding a shelled pea or giving a bath in epsom salt

When I first got fish, I bought many as I wasn't educated on which fish go with which. I got a silver dollar in the same tank as a neon tetra, sad to say I found the tetra sticking out the silver dollars mouth the next day. 😬😅
