Still get a shock when I turn UA-cam on and see you! You're doing an amazing job, which seems to be much appreciated. I especially love the enthusiasm you convey.
Hi Andy, another great vid! I really like this series your doing. I discovered Decathlon recently and can't recommend them enough. The value for money they offer along with the quality of their items is fantastic. Their clothing for hiking is great too!
Totally agree.... have recently discovered Decathlon.. excellent gear... have purchased very cheap trekking poles and trainers, down jacket, cups and bowls. All very good quality.
I have the 2-man version of the tent you mention and the chair also as well as other bits and pieces, all excellent stuff. The tent specifically is modular, in that you can buy replacement parts for everything if you damage or break something - I'm sure major manufacturers would off the same, but not so much the Naturehike type (I could be wrong) and you'd have to buy the whole thing again... I'm lucky I have a Decathlon just down the road from me and I love their stuff and I probably spend too much time in there... Thumbs up for other videos you've created like this one, for Amazon and Go OutDoors. Thanks for the info and all the other reviews and information your adding to your channel... I'm busy working my way through all your videos. Great content 👍
Thanks! I have a big family Decathlon tent and I'm really impressed with it. In fact it's probably the only item I've purchased where I would genuinely give it 10/10. I've just spent a week in it and can't complain about anything.
@@BackpackingUK that's the downside with Aldi as things are seasonal. I originally saw it in the store last summer and they had plenty in stock. Silly me didn't grab one but later regretted it be because I couldn't find any as light except the very expensive Helinox. I ended up keeping my eye out on eBay and grabbing one their.
I have Easy fit 50L bavkpack, I have my MSR gas in that cup, using same cooking set also, have that sleeping pad, no mat, don't have that sleeping bag, I have their 2p tent but will get that 1p tent. 1kg lighter! And I love it. So basically this year I was into Savotta and Tasmanian tiger, was about to get backpack and gear from them buut I got that 50L backpack and was blown how goood it is so I just continued getting their gear. Also I prefer MSR pocket rocket 2 I have over their stove. But will not get Soto for wind but MSR deluxe but pretty much the same thing. Also I have that head lamp hahah I am Dechatlon edicted I would say 😂😂 I mean they are making cracking gear for even better cost! Value +++
I am quite a fan of Decathlon, but you very rarely see reviews of any of their tents. That yellow mattress is pretty good, I'm tempted. Their down jacket is reviewed all the time, but their tents not .. i often wonder why Regards from Whitley Bay
Personally, I don't like their backpacking tents purely because of the colours (usually grey or white). I don't understand why they don't offer green or brown/sand? I have a Quechua 4 man camping tent and it's excellent. Colours don't matter for camping but you really want something that blends into the countryside if you're wild camping. I really rate their gear though, everything that I've purchased from Decathlon has always been excellent value for money.
Loving the positivity Andy. Can’t help but smile with your videos. Keep it up! Have an OEX 300. Thinking of the red 400. Any thoughts on the OEX Helios down sleeping bags?
I’m doing a quick review of the 300 next week. There isn’t a huge difference between the 300 and 400. If I had my time again, I would have gone for a proper 4 season sleeping bag that could handle minus temperatures comfortably e.g the Leviathon. I know it costs much more but proper 4 season sleeping bags do. The other Helios bags will be lighter and pack down smaller but probably won’t offer any more warmth than what you’ve got. Hope this helps 👍
Fair question. If you had say an insulated inflatable mat you wouldn’t need a roll mat in winter. However, if you had a standard inflatable mat (like this one) you would still need a roll mat in winter. But when it gets warmer you can ditch the roll mat. Hope this helps 👍
I guess the other reasons you might use a roll mat too, is to protect your inflatable mattress from puncture. Or, if your inflatable goes down due to a faulty valve or something, then at least you'd have thd roll mat to lie on.
When I go shopping with the other half I usually dive into Decathlon to waste half hour. I always come out with something. I hate paying delivery charges too!
What a nice video, my friend! Great backpacking equipment review! Enjoyed watching, very useful info. Cheers from Russia, man, and welcome to my channel about bushcraft tips and hacks! Kind regards, Yuriy! 🙂
Dunno what's going on in my head - taken me ages to realise your name's Andy. Thought you were introducing yourself as, "Amanday". I was thinking, "Blimey, that's an exotic name"!
NOTE: All the links to the products are in the description.

I’m like the Martin Lewis of Backpacking 😆
Andy, Thank you, love what you are doing with your channel.
Thanks so much 🙏

I was thinking of doing a Decathlon hiking video next month. They’ve got some great hiking gear in there 👍

Couldn't agree more!
I have the Forclaz Tent. It’s a really good piece of kit.
All feedback I've had say people really rate it!

Aldi have a great ultralight hiking chair in occasionally. It was £17 when I last saw it and one of the lightest at only 650g!
It’s always out of stock though!

@@BackpackingUK Thanks for your reply Andy. Appreciated.
Brilliant video 📹thanks 👍
Cheers 👍
Andy for the silly questions, if I had a inflatable mattress, does that mean u still need a roll mat. And vice versa

The biggest problem with tent is that not freestanding tent and always have problem with that
I really liked Decathlon. They used to do free delivery of you spent over £30, I bought lots. Then they changed delivery fees so I buy NOTHING... 🤪

@@BackpackingUK Think I need to get out the city...
I see Andy. I click
haha love it!
The stove is not half the price of an MSR pocket rocket, the pocket rocket costs between £30 and £35, and way better.
I didn’t say the Pocket Rocket, I said the Pocket Rocket Deluxe which does cost double the money.
All my backpacking gear is from Decathlon. I regret nothing
Thanks for sharing 👍
