I have to say I didn't know he had this range of talent. I'm so used to seeing him with will Ferrell and being a comedic actor. Yes there are plenty of moments in this movie where he's a comedic relief but it fits with his character. For a guy to be stranded on an island for 28 years with no ties to the world and with creatures trying to kill him it's gonna affect your mental state. However being on the island for that many years you do adapt and survive. Which is why it was funny yet believable when he said " you're a good group of boys to die with" while laughing. He was happy that there were brothers in arms with him because at least he would die with his fellow brothers in arms. Even though they went from the same war or same generation probably he could connect with them soldier to soldier because in his seclusion the war never ended. Even after they told him he would say "Russia is our ally". The conversation about the Cubs was a good bit of dialogue because he was stating how it was his team and was curious about if they won. On the other hand it's John C. Reilly so he ads that comedic affect to it and makes it funny.
Marlow is such a great character! Even though he's goofy and sometimes over the top, he's very sympathetic. The ending, when he reunites with his family is so heartwarming!
Marlow: You are more beautiful than a hotdog and a beer at wrigley field on opening day. Movie ends with him holding a hotdog in one hand and a beer in the other while watching a Cubs game. Very nice
Despite it being set in the 1970s, I wanted to tell him I'd personally take him to the Wiener's Circle back in Chicago as well as get him a six-pack of something from the Chicago craft brewery Goose Island.

Best casting of any MonsterVerse movie so far, and there have been FOUR made as of now. Thanks to its humor, Hollow Earth lore, and brilliant action sequences (helicopter, ship propeller, lake of fire), this is by far the most entertaining MonsterVerse movie Legendary has made. Godzilla vs. Kong is probably my second favorite, because of Bernie's cheesy one-liners, Mechagodzilla being terrifying, and more Hollow Earth lore.
Probably didn't want to put up potential spoilers at the time of upload. There's alot of characters and part of the suspense for me was wondering who was gonna make it home. I was rooting for a few people but dammit I really wanted to see him get back lmao
I know it's an improvised line, but in some ways, it is plausible. Ants communicate with each other by rubbing their antennas together, which makes a low chirping noise that's inaudible to the human ear. A giant ant would most definitely be heard!

I like to think that Monarch offered Marlow a job after he adjusted to life back in the States. He has military experience, probably got an honorable discharge after coming home, has extensive knowledge on the creatures, as well as environment, of Skull Island, has extensive experience in surviving on Skull Island, as well as being fluent in the Iwi language.
Marlow: “I can’t tell when I’m talking or when I’m not talking” Paranoid Man: “You’re talking” Marlow: “I’m talking?” Paranoid Man: “Yes” Marlow: “Am I talking?” Paranoid Man: “Yes!” Marlow: “Your mouth is moving.” Paranoid Man: “What?” Marlow: “I’m going to stab you before the end of the night.” Paranoid Man: “Really?” Marlow: “Hehe. I really hope in the expanded lore that Hank took all of Gunpei's possessions, went to Japan, and personally returned them his surviving family. Emotional scene right there.
I really like Marlow, he's one of my favorite human characters from the MonsterVerse while the Titans are my favorites to see, the human characters can be seen as likeable human beings.

I want to see an elderly Marlow cameo in Godzilla vs Kong.
Pimp Minya at least his son.
That would be hard because he’d be a little older than 100 years old in 2020.
I'd like to see his son, maybe his son did his own digging and learned about Kong is gonna be like, my dad was a nut but he was RIGHT
El Gordo speaking of his son, is it normal for a 28 year old man to still be living with his mom? Was that normal back in the 1970s?
