Would it not be possible to build a short spur across the river to connect with the Cobh railway line? It seems like such a disadvantage not to have any railway connection with the port
@@dronehawk Well I'd imagine there would have to be a type of swing bridge that would open and close depending on shipping needs, something like the Barrow rail bridge. Looking at the width of the channel between say Rushbrooke and Monkstown, it doesn't appear to be such an insurmountable task
Wow sooo cool to see all this!!! Great progress for Cork really!! And love being a subscriber to you!!

Great to see the government's revenue surplus's being spent on infrastructure, instead of civil-servant's pay increases.
Happy Christmas... 👏👏☘
Considering Dublin port are pushing Irish rail out, I wonder if a new possibility of rail transport will be based here
Not a chance
@@dronehawkwhile of course Dublin Port in 3FM project is massively increasing RoRo capacity but it is LoLo that is beyond capacity now
Having ports without rail links dose not make any sense this day and age.

It would require a massive engineering solution to get tracks across an active Shipping Channel.

Sur aren't I the lucky one trapped behind the 2 mph trucks all the way to Shannon park roundabout every day.
you likely are when you go get that car refilled from the product that truck brought
They could do with a weight bridge to stop the overloading of trucks...that would make too much sense.
Why does this port not have a rail connection?
Topography
Moneypoint still able to take the largest ships in ireland
Yes , but it's not a port as such. It doesn't handle mixed freight . You could argue bantry whiddy and Aghada refinery handle bigger vessels also
Things will ramping up in the new year, so keep th drone batteries charged up.
