I saw Andrew WK play years ago and he was talking to folks after the show and I managed to tell him how his music has been such a positive influence in my life throughout seriously hard times and he looked me dead in the eyes, sincerely thanked me and told me "Dude, don't let your positivity, power or happiness be taken away by any king of negativity." And that has stuck with me HARDCORE! Keep that PMA!!!!!

Sounds cliché but this song pulled me out of a very dark place. So much negativity in the world just bleeds into everything. Lost a loved one to cancer, laid off, and lost my GF of 5 years all in 2 months. Still in that dark place but things like this that are packed with good emotions seem like a light that I can follow out. Andrew is a human this world needs but does not deserve. Thank you so much for being you Andrew!

When this came out, I was going through a lot of shit, but I kept on pushing...cause life was worth living for despite how hard it seems.
Now, I made it all the way, and I have joy and laughter with my wife and kids. I sure did prove them all wrong
I was addicted to DXM and trying to keep myself off it when this came out, it was literally a life saver for me. I even went so far as to see Andrew live on this tour and it made me cry happy tears
I have to revisit this song every now and then, it really reminds me that music and art and beautiful things are worth living for.

Demencia if you like his music you should really look up some of his interviews and talks. He came to my town, I thought it was going to be a concert, it wasn't. He gave a talk/motivational speech, it was amazing. This guy is so intelligent and insightful. Best of luck to you and Party Hard!

Music is to be interpreted by the listener and can have many different meanings that are usually personal so cheesy or not its what it means to you and thats what makes music so special. Its been at least 10 years since I have rocked out some AWK but im glad to have the chance to again!!! Party Hard!!!
It may only be cheesy to the ones who don't understand (as cheesy as that may sound in itself). Same thing goes with stuff like Tony Robbins. Many a person who hasn't needed that kind of thing thinks it is ridiculous or unnecessary (or any number of other things I have heard) - but if it's what spoke to you when you needed it, it's life-changing. That's why I love the power of music and why I make it myself. We all need a soundtrack and you have chosen wisely!
There's a lot of negativity towards cheese here, especially when Andrew himself has a pizza guitar! lol but really, I've come to strongly believe wisdom without humor is no wisdom at all. Andrew clearly has no problem being goofy and ridiculous, and I think a large part of his message is to let go of that horrible obsession with appearing perfect and infallible. Maybe if we all just realized we're all wearing different variations of the same mask, we'd finally see it for what it is, worthless baggage, and take it off. Memento Mori. We all die, making all material pursuits ultimately silly and absurd, just like the surface of Andrew's art. There's a ridiculous level of depth hidden in there, layers and layers, but I think a sense of humor is needed to have any hope of understanding even a sliver of life.

In 2018 I finally became fed up with my cocaine addiction after hitting rock bottom. I'd do so much that I would stay up for days, even had a couple of seizures from overdosing due to the vasoconstriction and how it screwed with my nervous system. My entire adult life I was a self-proclaimed atheist, and in the foggy haze that was withdrawal I had nightmares so vivid that I needed some kind of support... I was desperate for it. My family wasn't there for me (I don't blame them after the years of hell I put them through). I needed something... someone... to be somewhere... to be doing something other than what I was doing, because my life at that point was hell. I had a total meltdown and went to the only place that I knew for sure would accept me. I went to my first mass having snorted the last little chunk in my bag. Anyways it just so happened to be a very special mass unbeknownst to me. There happened to be a traveling choir that morning, and as I stood in the pew before the tabernacle, my mind racing, my heart palpitating, watching the people line up for communion, I heard the most beautiful sound coming from the main entrance behind everyone. It was the traveling choir singing. It reverberated through the church like nothing I'd ever heard... it was so lush, so vivid, I felt it in my bones. It gave me chills... the kind that raise the hair on the back of your neck.
I knew of Andrew WK, and though I liked it, I thought it to be somewhat of a novelty and hadn't really kept up with it beyond the first album. At some point during RCIA, I decided to buy You're Not Alone after hearing Music Is Worth Living For. The album had this inexplicable aura to it... the organs, the majesty and grandiosity of it hit me in much the same way as that choir did. I looked into this, and apparently when he was a child, attending midnight mass with his parents influenced him greatly as musician in later years. I'm glad to say that I understand this kind of inspiration. I get it. This is kind of when Andrew WK clicked for me... and You're Not Alone in particular has helped me tremendously. You're not alone is surreal and epic. It uplifted me in my darkest time and reinforced the idea that we are not alone, that there is hope even if we think we are hopeless and lost. It taught me that not everything is supposed to be picture perfect. Pain and adversity are a part of a struggle to survive, and true beauty exists because of that struggle, not without it. I was trying to medicate myself with cocaine. I wanted to feel good all the time. I wanted to be happy all the time. Life is not that. That is not living, and besides, it doesn't work. There will be challenges... there will be demons. Don't fear this adversity... don't avoid your demons... take your demons by the hand and _show them the light._
