This took me back to the Coral Beach days where I spent the majority of my summers in Beirut - they were happy days and times in spite of the chaotic mode in the city. Congratulations Philippe on your continued success and thank you for this interview and highlighting your family’s history.
An interview that brings joy to the heart, hope to the future, faith to the Lebanon we love. People like Phillip Massoud are inspirational for the young generation whether in Lebanon or abroad. God bless and as we say in Arabic يللي خلف ما مات
Very inspiring success story. Very well done ilili. Food is important in bridging the gap in cultural divides & important in diplomacy & has often been used as a medium for projecting influence, communicating one’s culture, identity and message of friendship with those foreign to it. I think you will find the success rate of places like ilili to draw a broader cross section of people into our culture is higher than elsewhere. Clearly ilili have found the right balance & their immense success is testament to this. 👏
Heyyy... For the first time, someone honest , down-to-earth,speak logic know how & know why.... he searched he try again & again... failed hundreds time but never gave up. Wants to know why we add this, not that... cares about Quality and what he believes in. Never compromise My husband worked the same way ... He repeats the recipe for months till go into productions . He's EXPETIONEL....💙
Waw!!! what an inspiring video and interview, Thx Anthony, Filipe is a wonderful ambassador for lebanese culture! your story Philippe made me cry, as it reflects so many lebanese people path and passion to keep the hope and faith in our culture!! Bravo!!
Absolutely loved this video. Philippe deserves everything he has and I wish him the most success going forward. Resilience, passion, dedication, hard work and humbleness.
Unbelievable interview! Resilience, perseverance and never giving up is what makes one succeed in business. Phillipe is one of those Lebanese heroes that we are proud of. What a great story of how the owner of ilili resraurants, Phillipe Massoud, started his restaurant business and his personal experiences in Lebanon during good and bad times. If you live in NY or Washington DC, a visit to this authentic Lebanese restaurant is a must. Here is the link to the 2 restaurants www.ililirestaurants.com/location/ilili-nyc/
Great story! Sadly, I already can feel the huge pressure for tweaking the recipes, with the purpose of “pleasing” the American consumer. This ends up ruining all otherwise perfectly good foreign cuisine.
I agree with you but in NYC our Arabic food is referred as Mediterranean, Greek and even Israeli they are literally stealing our many rich food and dishes, so I am happy to see it being called Lebanese.
قصة فيليب روعة بتعقد ويا ريت كل الشباب يتعلمو منك ترفع القبعة برافو والله يوفقك قصتك بتجنن 🙏

Lebanese are continuing the tradition of the Phoenicians ..building relationships by doing business.
