Kerr County man has nearly 50,000 crayons, but this treasured color is the rarest of them all

He should open a po box. Im sure he'll get crayola crayons from all over the world!

Smells like a mk4 vw jetta or golf. They all seem to smell like crayons
*He has Dandelion Yellow!!* 😮😮. I’ve been in love with that color since kindergarten and now that I’m 32 years old I haven’t seen one since 3rd grade. It was my favorite then and it’s my favorite now.
No color like dandelion! There's a creator on TikTok that's been collecting dandelion crayons since they've been discontinued and I think that's such a fun idea.
They still make them I still color sometimes
@@featheryfemme i think i’ve seen her on fb reels. I dont do tiktok, but i would totally love to see yt shorts. I never liked the color yellow, but dandelion had me since i was a kid.
@@Shalyn-ln9tu yeah, I'm in the same sort of boat, I've only seen her on reels but I do know she posts on TikTok and I believe that's her main, as is for most people. But yeah, the dandelion crayon was gorgeous, very beautiful warm yellow, very rich. The similar crayons just can't compete.
I remember that color 💛
This gentleman should start his own channel. What a precious gem he is!
I would love to see videos of him coloring and explaining the history of the crayons and colors. That would be so awesome.
The gay Asian dude….he’s gotta work on that acting because while he didn’t mean it, the “wow” at the end was pretty mean.
PBS 🖍️ needs him teaching a crayon class in a Bob Ross style
His artwork is incredible too! No one ever teaches you that crayons can make professional art. This was a great video. I fondly remember Sesame Street in the early early 80s having a small thing about how they made a crayon, the colour was sunset something...this was really cool
if you seach on youtube, the sesame street video is there on how crayons are made
@@kerrbear1980 yes I prefer using crayons when I color, and everyone I know prefers pencils and paint, and that's also been the most common forms of art in books and stuff too, so to see more people using crayons and making gorgeous art with them is so cool to see! And I remember as a child seeing a Mr Rogers episode on how crayons were made and was absolutely fascinated. I'll have to look up that sesame street episode and watch that too!
Dont tell the Marines there's an all you can eat buffet.

I wonder if SteveMRE would be willing to chomp on a vintage Crayola
Glad you said it so I didn't have to mention usmc. Thank you for your service hooah
@@snyderec3952yoo me too lol
People say the Marines eat crayons because they’re stupid. I’ve met some Marines and know them to be quite intelligent. Which just makes it scarier that they eat them because they must like the taste.
I thought he would say his favorite color is Cerulean... the most beautiful crayon of all time imo
It is!!
Finally. My favorite since I can remember.
I remember when crayola eliminated the green blue (but kept the blue green).
I was heartbroken since that was my favorite color.
I don’t know if they still make it, but I still have a crayon in “jungle green” that I’ve held on to for at least 32 years now. I still remember taking that with me to the paint store when my dad took me to pick out the color for my bedroom. It was the last thing we did together (along with my mom and brother) before my dad passed.
I still find a way to incorporate that jungle green color into every place I’ve ever lived, usually by a rug or curtains, but I HAVE to have that color in my house somewhere.
It’s currently the color of my bedroom walls 🙂
Based on research of retired Crayola colors, green-blue was retired in 1990, along with blue gray, raw umber, lemon yellow, violet blue, orange-red and orange-yellow. However I do recall in the earlier 2000s getting those retired Crayola colors in the 64 box of Crayons brand for Christmas one year, maybe like around 2003. I've done a lot of research online and can only find Crayola colors, so I without actually opening boxes of off brand crayons in various stores I couldn't tell you what if any brand still has these retired Crayola colors available. Green blue is available in Crayola colored pencil, in the 100 color pack.
That’s how I feel about the dandelion crayon. All my curtains are that color, my couch and one of my favorite duvet covers. Fell in love with the color in Kindergarten but hasn’t seen it again since 3rd grade.
I wish there was a way to get ahold of this fella. I got a 90th anniversary 1903-1993 tin my godmother's mother bought in 93 even has dandelion with the pencil sharpener. It's in pristine condition. 🥰 I'm in Florida it was purchased in N New Jersey.
If you google him, you will find phone number & email. Or contact the station & ask he call/email you.
Dandelion isn't that rare, Crayola made over 40 million of them during their production run.
If you can't locate him I'm sure the news station could assist in reaching out to him for you. They are pretty helpful with stuff like this
wishing you all the luck!
I hope this ends up successful I really do
I need a whole hour episode of this crayon collection!
Yes! I'd love to see more detail of his collection, and it seems he loves talking about them and sharing his knowledge with others!
I feel the same. I started getting more excited as I watched. 😄

The box of 64 with a sharpener was the benchmark.

The fact that he not only collects these art tools bvut also utilizes them in an amazing fashion is the true beauty behind this story...a man not only in search of tools but also nuances like specific and rare colors. Love it
It’s actually so cool how dedicated he is when it comes to finding rare crayons and teaching kids how to make art with them. I hope he finds that 1958 box of 64 crayons 🖍️

“I DRAW WITH CRAYONS!” - THE DRAWINGS : 😮🎉
As a collector of vintage lunchboxes, I appreciate the search for the next best one over just getting them all on the Internet. The real excitement is in the hunt. I started collecting when I was about 15 and very few people cared about them because they were just garbage from their childhood. Now that I am 47 and the market has ebbed and flowed, I have access to pretty much any lunchbox I would ever want on eBay but I still get a rush going into an antique store for a middle of nowhere, thrift store and finding one. even though I want to find boxes in pristine condition I love when I get one that has a child’s name written on it or inside because it means that it was used and loved. I’ve got over 150 and most are on my wall with super strong magnets.
Don’t tell the marines…
He is so right about Crayola crayons. They create such beautiful artwork and they can be blended just like oil pastel crayons. I started drawing just for fun one day with crayons and discovered their magical abilities. They pair well with color pencils to bring something to life. By imparting a heavy amount of crayon onto your picture and using the coordinating color pencil or one you feel would go well over that crayon, you just start with medium pressure and start scraping away the top layer of crayon and laying down your color pencil color with the crayon. It turns out vibrant and like a comic book print all waxy and laminated looking. It's a bit messy but I've never known art to be clean until I was finished and cleaned up. What a great find this gentleman found. ❤
Wow,that is a GREAT tip! I do a little art class once a week with children. Will try your technique with them.
I found this out doing art projects with my kids. They'd do something like color a cat purple or a sky green, so I would go behind them and erase the top layer and blend oil pastels and colored pencil on top of it. Made some of the richest tones and textures just like a comic book.
Do you use a clear blending marker? I use that with colored pencil and it does WONDERS for me. Mileage may vary, though.
all the other crayon brands are just awful
Wow, just tried it! A great tip for young and young-at-heart, alike. Thank you!
This man and his crazy collection got us talking about, thinking about and even using crayons. That's pretty darn neat.
In all my years of using Crayola crayons as a kid...not once did I ever create anything as lovely as what he's created. What a great soul...God bless...
Did you notice how finely pointed he’s sharpened them? You can do a great deal more with that. His paper choice is probably very important.
Cerulean is the best crayola crayon color. It's so vibrant, it's that eye candy shade of blue, it's perfect.
That's a very talented guy, It's not just the crayons, but he's a darn good artist too. I hope someone sends him the box of 64 he's looking for.
What a cute story! I wish this man had a UA-cam channel to share more of his wonderful collection with the world.
I'm 67 years old and still love crayons. But I never seen a crayon collector. Amazing.

You know this guy is an artist when he says his favorite of all of the thousands of shades is: "Asparagus".
You need a great appreciation for the subtle differences of very dark colors to have a favorite like that.
What a cool old guy. I see some artists stick their noses up at crayons and colored pencils but as one can see from this man's drawings, great art can be made using all mediums.
As a baseball card collector I respect the love he puts into his collection. I feel like everyone should collect something.
Why? It does nothing to you but distract you from the truth. People are scared to sit alone with their mind because they will realize everything we see and touch on daily is pointless.

I worked for Crayola for 30 yrs. It was the best place to work. I started there when it was Binney and Smith, and then Hallmark bought it lock stock and barrel , and changed the name to Crayola. I loved working there, their products were made with the best ingredients and they made sure they were safe for children, that was their top priority for all their items. I bet I have items that he doesn't have, some things were only given to employees. It's nice to see someone who loves Crayola as much as I do
Thats so much food, and they have all the vintages and flavours!!
