Thanks - I dont have a tv attached with my main box and wanted to turn it off :) asked sky guys and they had no clue what i was talking abt. Followed these instructions and it worked just fine. Ta
Got to turn it off as next door have sky and both using the same channel so have co-channel interference, plus where the router is and q box, devices sitting in the middle don't know which to go to.
Thanks for the video. Just wondering, I don't have Sky Wi-Fi but do have Sky Q boxes which are emitting Wi-Fi. Is there a way for me to log in to the new connection using a phone or iPad? Would it even be advisable to do so? Thanks
Hi I'm so sorry I didn't see this message I'm just going through all my old messages I sent this message has come you can put the mini box to Emmet Wi-Fi even if it's on the different internet and not Sky
Thanks for the video, very simple and easy to follow. One question I have is it if this solution turns off just the broadcasting or the network's operation too, I need to ensure the networks are turned off as I have read that they are easily hackable
This option you would turn off if you were to have the boxes hardwired. The reason why some people would want to turn off the Wifi, if something else like Hive or Sonos etc was interfering with it, (but you could switch wifi channels etc). In terms of hacking, anything with a Internet connection is hackable. Like everyone says Alexa is listening, itunes is controlled. TBH I'm sure Sky have thought about security very hard, and would allow it to be so easily accessible by any outside norms. It does go through the security of the main router anyways, so it connects just like any other Wifi device.
OMG... am staying in appartment with Sky.... turned mains power to unit off, but wifi still coming from somewhere. We really like to shut the emanations off at night.... and your guide merely confirms how unstraightforward that is.... frying my brain cells!!!!!
So, with mesh system like TP Link M5 Deco, with 3 units, to have that running correctly and the sky router wi-Fi OFF, the router connects with unit 1 via ethernet cable, that sends wi-fi to unit 2 and then to 3. The TV can be connected via ethernet cable from either unit 2 or unit 3. Does that sound correct or am I not understanding correctly?
I was wondering if you could assist. I have sky Q but my Wi-Fi is with VM. I have a garden room that has it's own router so is different to the Wi-Fi on my main box. Is there a way I can connect a mini box onto another non-sky router?
@@BeemerBeysProductions Thanks for your response. maybe you could help me with this too. I have a cat5 cable from my main router that goes under my house along my fence and into a garden room. This cable is terminated and has a port in my garden room. Could I use a Ethernet cable from the garden room port to the sky mini box or would is that too many cables. Failing that, could a Wi-Fi booster have the same properties as my VM router and connect the sky mini that way?
When my sky q box is set up with the WiFi tuned on it bring the WiFi speed to everything else down from like 450 to around 50. Hopefully this fixes the problem

Hi If the mini is in a location, separate from the main house, like a man Cave or an out house, you will need to have ethernet cable connected between both
So I'm having wifi issues and sky suggested I connect my broadband router to the sky q box with an ethernet cable and then turn off 2.4ghz. Will this screw up my connection to the sky q mini box also?
