I'm a born and raised Keswickian (old enough to remember trains at Keswick!) You mention not seeing any smiles Glenn. Keswick folk are as friendly as they come. You must have been passing tourists! Great video. Loved it.
if you can't get up and away a lap of buttermere lake is stunning rewarded with a lovely ice cream at the farm tea room at the end and a visit to the church to see the memorial plaque for mr wainwright himself plus the view out of the window to the wonderful haystacks.we did it 3 weeks ago hardly anyone around.
Hi Glenn, Yes, me and my wife definitely love the new videos your doing. We've not been walking the hills since the last two month's, as I've been diagnosed with ME ( Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), after getting a viral infection after getting soaked through walking in Lymm Park in July. It's put my physical activites on hold, but I'm determined to walk them hills in a few weeks, but I've got to take it easy now in case my body crashes. If anybody on here has ME and has managed to hill walk again. I'd be truly appreciative of any tips. Your videos continually inspire us both. Hope the Achilles gets better my friend. Nothing worse than not being able to get into them hill walks. We're missing it big time, but we'll be there soon God willing. Likke Arnie says, " I'll be back" 😂😂 Warmest wishes. Tony and Kim 👍 🙏🙏
Great walkabouts videos but make sure you give that toe time to heal. My wife and I both definitely think you should pull on the skates and tear around Keswick.
Are you kidding me.. we love where ever you take us! Hiking..walking..skating.. all the same to me. That was a cool walk. Think George Fisher is a very dangerous store. Prayers sent that heaing happens quickly. Love from the USA!
Rookery woods is across the lane from castle rigg stone circle, worth visit if you have kids, only a £5 and stay and play all day 👍. Good coffee for the grown ups as well
That gesture at 33:20 was a proper 'lol' moment! It's been many years since I've visited keswick...and swam in Derwent Water. I can still feel how flippin' cold it was!! lol
Lovely place Keswick ❤best time to walk through the town is around 7am when only the early morning locals are about...after that it's standing room only 😂 beautiful town in a beautiful area of the whole UK ❤💯👌
I love using Keswick as a base for Lake District trips. There’s a small tapas/pizza restaurant called the Square Orange just up from the Moot Hall and it’s got to be one of most favourite eateries ever. I also had to laugh when you went through the underpass and showed a guy called John Bowie playing. As well as busking he’s always gigging around the Keswick area; he’s a fantastic guitarist and does a wonderful version of Going To California by Led Zep 😀
Lovely video, nice to see that the railway station building has survived I believe it is accommodation for hotel guests now ,a walk to Blencathra,Scales & Threkald via the old line and back is a good day out from there.
Class… the last videos have been good for me. For someone who tends to just drive everywhere being a wheelchair user I can see what all the fuss is about and what I can manage to do in advance.
I know that you said some people are upset about your non-mountainous adventures...I'm not one of them. I'm learning quite a lot and you have a great eye for beauty. Also, your commentary is top-notch. Thank you!
This is a brilliant video! Thank you! Wishing yout foot much healing! For other wordly views, some low level walking (ish) and photography heaven get to The Faroes!
This brings back memories, went on a row boat on Derwentwater, bought some water colour pencils from the pencil museum and visited Castlerigg stone circle and took plenty photos, then to end the day had a wonderful chilli con carne in a pub. Thanks for reminding me of happy days out. 😁😜
Me and my partner love these videos you do where you walk around and show different areas, it’s really interesting. It shows you another side of the Lake District, it’s great your doing a mixture in the hills and showing people around and places.
The water is very high you can normally walk about in that area. I did walk round Derwentwater and was going to cross the Chinese bridge it was flooded. So had to walk to Borrowdale that was one long walk.
At 22:00 you're wondering why the word "castle" is so common around there? At that moment you are walking through an area where there was once a Roman camp, and that almost certainly is the source of that name - from the Latin word "castra" for "camp". It was only discovered within the last 20 years, as it was only ever bounded by a ditch/bank and a wooden pallisade. And the road you are walking down may well have been the Roman road through the middle of it, linking up with a road which we know cut across the corner of the field that Castlerigg stone circle is in.
I'd definitely be interested in the odd skating video, as an old roller blader myself, it could be a wonderful trip down memory lane. Although my new love is nature and as always sir this video is a banger, thank you!
Hi Glenn, Thank you for this. Have really enjoyed your walks. You said there have been a few wishing you would get back into the fells. I do love the fells. Might I request, when you are back to full health & the true fells, that you continue to throw in a low walk every once in a while? My Father-in-law and I have hiked the Lakes for the last decade. Never done the complete walk in this video, but have done other walks that include sections of this one. =} After summitting Catbells at 90, (yeah,.. I know. LOL) He's decided that the fells might be too much for him now. (Had to turn back from Nab Scar at 91,...) We've had to look for lower, flatter walks. Having videos like yours, so that we can actually see the walk, from someone who knows walking, before setting out, both gives us a good plan, and gives him confidence that he can do it. Worth it's weight in gold,... and seeing the smile on his face when we get into the green. Might be some way to identify them in the title, or the description? Anyway, not really important, just thought I should make the request. Love seeing the vids. May the wind always be at your back,..... =]
What a fantastic video Glen. My Mrs doesn’t like fell walking, but enjoys walking on flatter ground. This route would be ideal for her. Very informative. 👍
I feel anxious in large crowds as well...doesn't mean I don't like people, just not so many of them at once. Anyway, I look forward to your videos and enjoy them immensely. Oh, and that food looked amazing!
Oh no i missed you, was at the stone circle this Saturday, did thirlmere old railway line, and back by the road passing them, to keswick, pints🍺 on me if i ever do see you.. big thank you for these videos
Hey Glen thanks for another low level walk. My wife and I love Keswick we’ve spent so many lovely days there. Living in Fuerteventura we haven’t got to the lakes for a couple of years now but every video you put on scratches the itch of wanting to get there. Thank you so much for all your video. Please no rollerblading 🤣🤣🤣
Great upload as usual. Living in the not too distant Northumberland I have always been at my happiest when visiting Lakeland, my wife and I aiming to have a few nights stay predominantly in or around Grasmere two or three times a year and have done so for decades now. Seeing so many familiar locations on your superb channel really is the next best thing to being there myself.
Love Keswick. Although we live in North Devon we've actually been into Keswick more often in 2023 than we've been to our local town at home! Recently stayed at Castlerigg Farm campsite. It's a lovely setting for a campsite.
Good to see I'm not the only one who says 'hey herdie' like Bert from Seasame Street! 😊 Been to Keswick and Ambleside many times so nice to see some new areas. Good video 👍🏻
Loved it! I agree about ppl, I love the countryside bc it’s away from ppl. Lol 😂. The views are amazing, loved the walk by the water. And the good you picked looked sooo good. lol your videos are an escape for me, much needed and much appreciated. Hope your toe heals well and can’t wait for the camping videos. I think you doing the rollerblading would be lots of fun. I enjoy the towns as well. Thank you for sharing your beautiful journey. What a blessing. 💕💕🙌
Great video Glenn, good to show those people who don`t venture onto fells that there`s plenty to look at around the towns and villages. Rollerblading along the old railway....got me thinking should i get my old longboard out again. That would be a great route to ride it on a quiet day. We spent a lot of time over the past few year`s in and around Keswick and yes it does get too busy sometimes so we head for the hills. Hope the foot is getting better.
Well, here I am making my first comment on your channel. You came to me as an advisory to look at as I'm an avid Lakeland fellwalker and countrywide rock scrambler. I have to say, very well done my new found friend. I have binge watched your back catalogue with great enjoyment, I'm subscribed and loving the content, crack on , and I hope the toe and the tendon soon heal. Best wishes from a fellow fell walking fan.
wonderful video, took me back to a wee solo trip with my dog Poppy who I lost in 2020. I visited the Stone Circle and Keswick lots of wonderful walks and it was so dog friendly. Makes me want to plan another trip again and visit some of the walks I missed.
Great vid as usual mate. You said you wish they’d tarmac the prom where you lived. I presumed you lived in the Lakes as you’re so knowledgeable about every part of the area.
Cheers Glenn taking me back to memories of walking the Cumbria way.... Followed your Deepdale horseshoe route on Last Monday and Wow what a place 😃 Thanks again
Oh my goodness I thought Australia was beautiful.. this is absolutely stunning 😍 I most likely will never get there to experience it so thank you for your time and effort to produce such beautiful videos 💕😍👍🏽🇦🇺
Thoroughly enjoyed that Glenn and was totally expecting to see me or my brother in the background somewhere as we were in Keswick just a couple of weeks ago. We walked most of the area you did in this video and yes the water was high everywhere. My brother walked right around the lake one morning and had to wade through ankle deep water near Grange. I have to admit though, when you started walking towards Fishers I was sure you were going to finish off with a pint in the Wainwright pub 🙂 Thanks again for another great video.
Definitely had a hearty chuckle at Cockshot Wood 😂 I used to own a set of Derwent pencils as a young artist, so the pencil museum is exciting for me! 😊 Regards from Perth Australia
You didn't introduce us to your new walking companion. The little hairy fella with one green eye riding your chest strap. He was nodding along to your every word... or was it he who was doing the talking? The star of the show.
Great video, we’ve been to Keswick many times but not done a lowland walk so now my partner wants to do your walk next time! The last time we visited the stone circle was in midsummer and a bunch of hippies were having a great time partying and chanting around the ancient stones 🧘♀️ Another nice lowland walk is Bolton Abbey and surrounding areas in Yorkshire 👍
great video and walk glenn..ive done that similar walk a few times..the presence of skiddaw is glorious to me..... i love the walks and the roadtrips equally as much as the hikes
Thank You for another wonderful adventure, Glenn. 😊 Wherever you go, people, or no people, you always make it interesting! And hey, yes, the fells and crags are magnificent, however, variety is the spice of life! Take care of you first, Glenn. 💚
Really enjoyed this walk. I love being on the tops but this walk and your Ambleside one were eye opening. I’ve been to these towns so many times when my kids were little and just done the usual centre stuff but the busyness now keeps me driving on through them. However, you’ve shown me two great walks that are really worth checking out. So thank you 👍🏻
Seriously, it looks like Vermont or New Hampshire. All these Lake District towns have a lot of character. The Lakes are actually a good, thought they were smaller.

Another great video, loving the low level walks around the towns, not sure how far your willing to travel here’s a place to visit New Zealand, South Island, Dunedin lived there for a while beautiful place also Queenstown and Milford sounds some great walks..oh can you get the wiper blade sorted on the van..😬. Keep it up..👍🏻
Excellent tour of Keswick. We usually stay there for a couple of weeks in Summer. Busy but not as crazy as Ambleside and there are a lot of walks that can be done by foot from Keswick. The circular walk around Derwent water is very good, the only problem is when the water is high and it cuts off the raised path at the Borrowdale end.
Hi Glenn, brilliant video. I must admit Keswick is not a place I’ve spent much time in. Like you always seems very busy and I like the solitude. Thanks for showing us round. All the best, Dave

You went to the pencil museum but you never said it “smells like pencils”! Great vid, hope your foot’s better.

Thanks for sharing again , rave on rave on,
If you come up to Scotland again, I think you'd appreciate The Cabrach. It's bleak, it's desolate and it's great!
Lovely place Keswick ❤best time to walk through the town is around 7am when only the early morning locals are about...after that it's standing room only 😂 beautiful town in a beautiful area of the whole UK ❤💯👌
Yes to the skating!, great video ⛸️⛸️⛸️👍👍👍
Yes can we see you roller blade please Glenn 👊
Hi. That was a nice chilled out video. I love Keswick especially on market day. Also yes would love to see you on roller blades. Great watch.
Nothing wrong with showing us the low level highlights, always ready to see something new. Thank you.
That tree was beautiful!
I love using Keswick as a base for Lake District trips. I first visited the Lakes in '84. Friar's Crag was my first stop and I've been in love with this area ever since
Spot on . yes it's frustrating when you can't get out on the fells . my knee are knackered 😅 but keep up good work awesome. 👏
Me and my partner love these videos you do where you walk around and show different areas, it’s really interesting. It shows you another side of the Lake District, it’s great your doing a mixture in the hills and showing people around and places.
YES to a rollerblading video 😊😊😊 lovely trip around Keswick 😀
Hi Glen 😁
I do like Keswick.mostly to get food supplies 😋😋 then head off up the hills 🙌🙌 and yes get them skates back on 😂❤
Am happy to watch you walking the fells or through the lovely towns of the Lake District! Roller blading? Would love to see that! 😮

I’m totally with you about too many crowds and I would have left Keswick too .
I'd definitely be interested in the odd skating video, as an old roller blader myself, it could be a wonderful trip down memory lane. Although my new love is nature and as always sir this video is a banger, thank you!
The tea room by the murder barn do nice tea and scones 😋😋
Probably already suggested, but I'd love to see you do Windermere with a climb up to Orrest Head, you could maybe tack on Bowness as well.

Loved the video! Might be named Castlerigg as there was a Roman Fort about 500m from the stone circle towards the farm. Hope the foot heals soon!
A brilliant walk even though jeans are 'aloud'. Thanks Glenn
Yesssss I'd love to see you rollerblading ❤
Cheers Glenn taking me back to memories of walking the Cumbria way....
Followed your Deepdale horseshoe route on Last Monday and Wow what a place 😃 Thanks again

You didn't introduce us to your new walking companion. The little hairy fella with one green eye riding your chest strap.
He was nodding along to your every word... or was it he who was doing the talking? The star of the show.
good vlog again would love to see you walk round my home town of kendal
Great video, we’ve been to Keswick many times but not done a lowland walk so now my partner wants to do your walk next time! The last time we visited the stone circle was in midsummer and a bunch of hippies were having a great time partying and chanting around the ancient stones 🧘♀️ Another nice lowland walk is Bolton Abbey and surrounding areas in Yorkshire 👍

Thanks very much really enjoyed it 😊
Yes to the roller blinds 😂
Really love the vids and they give me walking route ideas for when I’m in the Lakes but your choice of beer at the end always leaves me disappointed!😂
Thank You for another wonderful adventure, Glenn. 😊 Wherever you go, people, or no people, you always make it interesting! And hey, yes, the fells and crags are magnificent, however, variety is the spice of life! Take care of you first, Glenn. 💚
As I recall Keswick is the wettest place in the UK that's probably why no one smiles LOL
So thank you 👍🏻
Enjoyed your video. Gave me some ideas for our walks in Keswick. Many thanks.
Nice one Glenn, enjoyed that and recognised some of the views. Good choice of ale at the end, cheers!
Fabulous watch 👀👀 love wherever you wander 🙌🙌 I know what you mean about it being to peopley..is that a word 😂❤
Great video mate! Been tonKeswick plenty of times but it was like a tv show tour! Always entertaining.
Seriously, it looks like Vermont or New Hampshire. All these Lake District towns have a lot of character. The Lakes are actually a good, thought they were smaller.
Hi Glenn,❤ to see the roller blades, please make a video
Love ya video. We go Keswick every year and love it. Great place for pubs restaurants etc. Keswick brewery good place to visit too.
We always use the bus service when there so not to drive. You can get almost anywhere you like from using bus service by Booths.
We often go to Buttermere or Rosthwaite and do walks from there and wslk back to Keswick after. We tend to go in first couple of weeks in September when its a little quieter.
Great views, good company, tasty pies but too many people. Thanks, have enjoyed.
Lovely vid and walk. Glad you are on the mend.
If you want the most stunning landscapes in the world my friend, go to Iceland. Its otherworldly, even my photos are amazing and I'm not anywhere near in your class.
Love your videos, please visit York, it has so much history and great pubs too 😊
Yes roller blade👍
Another great video, loving the low level walks around the towns, not sure how far your willing to travel here’s a place to visit New Zealand, South Island, Dunedin lived there for a while beautiful place also Queenstown and Milford sounds some great walks..oh can you get the wiper blade sorted on the van..😬.
Keep it up..👍🏻
Great Video its a busy town even when not in silly season
Excellent tour of Keswick. We usually stay there for a couple of weeks in Summer. Busy but not as crazy as Ambleside and there are a lot of walks that can be done by foot from Keswick. So so beautiful ❤️❤️❤️and peaceful
Another great video Glenn. What music did you overlay when you went into the hiking gear shop near the end?
I love 80s metal! 😅
Hi buddy loving the low level walk more please 🙏
