The 4060 Ti is overpriced. Here's a $400 PC to prove it.

    I think comparing a more midrange rig with a 4080 evokes more compelling questions for me personally. Upper tier cards make very little sense for 90+% of consumers but make up a comparatively huge part of the market.

    • @Atari5732
      @Atari5732 Рік тому +36

      If you do some price vs performance comparisons, those "high end" gaming pcs tend to perform 2 to 3x better than a "mid tier" gaming pc, but for about 5-10x the cost. It really doesn't make sense to spend more than 800-1200 on a new pc that is considered "mid tier" but will perform at or above 100fps for most major titles and for 1/10th of the cost.
      Unless you are in a profession that requires certain technologies, spending more than 1-2k on a gaming PC (at least for me) feels like complete overkill.

      Yes! This is a good point that I tried to fit into this video but it was outside its immediate scope. Atari touched on it in their reply already, but value (perf per dollar) wasn't discussed because it's meaty topic and includes what you mentioned.

      I love having a giggle when I see anyone using a 40 series card, they barely preform better than their 30 series counterparts and Nvidia did everything they could to kill it on launch because they don't care about gamers with a budget anymore. At this point they're just constantly shooting themselves in the feet.

    • @dtsdigitalden5023
      @dtsdigitalden5023 Рік тому +11

      @@Alex-Martin0 I don't thank Nvidia cares, quite frankly, because it seems that the current cash cow for them is AI in the enterprise space. Their out-of-touch pricing certainly seems to support this idea. The gaming market is probably nothing more than pocket change for Nvidia at this point.

    • @inkredebilchina9699

      I tend to disagree with your statement that upper tier cards make up a huge part of the market. steam hardware survey tends to disagree as well. right now (July stats) 1650 non Ti is the top used gpu, followed by 3060 and 1060. the first 40 series gpu is the 4060 laptop version placed 31st and 4080 is trailing behind by it 27 places as well. so "comparatively speaking" it's placed where it should be. I would even go as far to say that most of the appearances of 40 series cards in steam survey comes from people benchmarking them. 0.39% doesn't ring as a lot in my ears honestly.

    I recently challenged myself to attempt to build an all or as much as new system upgrade from i5 4690/GTX970. I was hoping that along with some help from MicroCenter on the CPU mobo combo they have to also squeeze in something like a 6600. I did not 'bide time' to do the build, it was time sensitive, and the best I could do was 3600 on an A520 motherboard, 16GB RAM, new M.2 NVME, power supply, case, and a nice wireless Bluetooth card for just at $350. The choices which would have included a new GPU stripped too much functionality and upgradability so I opted for using the 970. IMO a $400 new system without long term shopping isn't possible in this market on even lower end quality parts. That line lies far closer to $500.

    Just finally made the upgrade from Kabylake i5 to a "new" platform, even AM4 is actually dead. Was thinking about getting the 12400F at first, but in the end AM4 and the 5600X just are a way better fit for me for multiple reasons. Even I´ve ended up spending the same as on Intel, I´ve got so much better parts (B550 Gaming Plus, Kingston Fury Renegade, Deepcool dual-tower aRGB cooler black edition) and especially the mobo connectivity is way ahead of both 1700 and AM5, well to me. Gaming performance is about the same but more importantly, AMD is better at something obviously most pc users and tech tubers don´t seem to realize how important it actually is and how often everyone is relying on that performance without realizing, talking compression/ decompression where letter is the one what matters. Almost every single bit of software nowadays contains compressed archives to save space/ download bandwidth, so the lager Cache for better compression performance sure is welcomend.

    For those in Canada this PC with the RX 6600 is about $750 before taxes and shipping. Making it cheaper then some 4060 ti's but more expensive then others

    Hey for what it's worth the R5 4500 + RX 6600 combo is less than a 16GB 4060 Ti :)
    Also as someone who already has a R5 5600 @ 4.8Ghz all-core + 3060 Ti @ 2.2Ghz core clock I was completely uninterested in anything under the 4070 with Ada Lovelace cards. If anything, upper-high end RDNA 2 cards are having some crazy good deals right now. $399 for a RX 6800, $449 for a 6800 XT, and just under $600 for a 6950 XT. All incredibly powerful cards with 16GB of VRAM that not even fake fra--I mean "frame gen" enabled on the 4060 Ti can compensate for

    I've bought my rx6600 brand new in the crypto boom in 2022 march and it cost me 650$ here in europe. It was the best performance for budget card and is still good for me ever since even on 1440p 144hz.

    As someone that i been using an R5 1600AF / RX 570 since pandemic i kinda forgot about pc gaming for a while 🤣
    2weeks ago or so i decided to build a new pc because prices are kinda nice in EU at least , went for a completely "new" ( is old gen parts but does the job) system besides the Tower / PSU and SSD since i already had those and went for B550 / R5 5600 / RX 6700XT /32GB RAM 3600MHZ which everything put together was around 650€ , i don't have any problem with this build whatsoever so far so ye im happy.

    This list was helpful for me. I am taking my 15 year old (Est.) family desktop that we have had ever since I can remember (I'm nearly 20 now) and am going to put modern parts in it. Problem is... I'll only be able to put a 90mm intake fan in it because it's so old (an OEM HP Desktop). I set my budget between $400-$500 and really, as close to $400 as I can get it. I think I'm going to take your recommendations on Storage and Motherboard, and Im gonna get an appropriate power efficient cpu/gpu from ebay. + a Thermaltake GF1 650w. Best rated PSU for the best price. I'll be able to fit a 3600XT and a 5700XT (used) for $420 total (nice), all together, with the 90mm Noctua fan. I'm gonna also wait until Black Friday to see if any new components go on sale, and then wait until Ebay dies down after the holidays to buy (I assume people will be buying a bunch of parts during Christmas? Or maybe even getting rid of them and I can find a good deal? Idk.)

    Be careful with that psu, ltt did a thing about it. If it overloads it prevents system loss but then doesn't work again. Might be worth spending a touch more on that.

    This is a very helpful video. I'm looking to do some upgrades, but I'm on disability, so not a lot of money to spend (and even then, it will have to go on a credit card because I never have a couple hundred dollars to spare and no real way to save, so as long as it just goes onto an already existing bill, then it's fine..well, the best I can do anyway) and figuring out what to get to replace my 1650 Super (struggles in quite a few games unless I run fairly low settings due to the VRAM) has been pretty rough. I never really even thought about a card like this tbh because I was too stuck on looking at like last gen or current, and I think we all know how the prices of current gen are going...I just need to figure out what will work for what I need it to do because I need to keep my computer up and running due to the fact that I use it for some side gigs to be able to afford groceries.

    for business and servers no gpu needed so much cheaper then - important point you sort of gloss over - people do lots more on pc than just game - add more ram and 2.5gbe for a powerhouse at negligible cost plus it has a really nice upgrade path which is just going to get cheaper going forward

    If the 2 cards you selected were (51RISC) 5500xt and 6600, then a middle ground RX 6600m could also be an option - it is usually cheaper than 6600 but has almost on par performance with it. Maybe 5700/xt too.
