    Dishonorable Mentions:
PC-FX: The PC-FX had drastically lower specs than its Saturn and PlayStation counterparts and lacked a 3D graphics processor, which hurt it out of the gate. The game library was cluttered with pornographic dating sim games because of NEC’s liberal licensing policies for the system.
CDTV: This was Commodore’s far worse competitor to the Philips CD-I. The system specs were identical to the Amiga 500 and its CDXL-format discs could only hold up to 30 minutes of video that was of lesser quality than even VHS.

3DO was an awesome console. It had great exclusives, both western and japanese, and was the first to bring console versions of laserdisc arcade games. Its only problem was the steep price. Being a commercial failure doesn't mean "bad".

I don't think the script writer actually played any of these consoles. 3DO had great games like need for speed, road rash, Lucienne's Quest, only console version of Star Control II, Super Street Fighter II, etc. Definitely was an issue of them cheaping out by leasing production instead of licensing production with one company to control the price. And the fact it's only launch game really wasn't great.

I understand why Action Max seemed awesome in 1987, it was probably the only option to play FMV games at home. But I guess that people didn't realize before they bought it that when you play a Laserdisc based game, the scene changes based on how good you're playing, like shoot the bad guy and you can continue, miss and you die. But no matter how good or bad you are, the video on a VHS tape never changes.

Same here. The Virtual Boy was very interesting. There was a Sears store when i used to live in Iowa as a kid that had a small video game corner in the store and one of the gaming devices set up for customers to check out and play was the VB. Yes, prolonged play was strainful to the eyes. I had fun, tho. Too bad child me was unable to convince his mom and dad to buy one. But i got one just over a year ago thanks to an old childhood friend reunited who had it all this time collectin' dust; let me have it and the games he got for it.
If Nintendo ever chose to do a limited rerun of the VB like with the Nintendo Mini and Super NES Mini, i can see them redesigning the VB headset as similar to the Oculus Rift or PS VR devices so we dont have to lay down or sit slouched forward over a table ledge like the original VB does.

Didn’t watch this video yet, but I’m 100% for certain that the Atari Jaguar is going to be on this list. I just would like to take this time to point out the system’s positives and that it really isn’t as bad as many make it out to be. In fact, it’s actually quite a fun machine to own and it has some (dare I say) hidden gems that are exclusive to this system like Ultra Vortek, Super Burnout, Alien vs Predator, Skyhammer, Trevor McFur in the Crescent Galaxy, the Iron Soldier games, Cybermorph, Battlemorph, BattleSphere, Defender 2000, Protector, and several others.

I was curious if the Game Wave would show up here, and I was happy to see it wasn't, though a little surprised at the same time. Released by Canadian company ZapIt in 2005, the Game Wave used controllers that resemble tv remotes, with 4 coming with the console and 2 additional ones you could buy to make up to 6 players possible, and it also played DVDs as well. The Game Wave retailed for $99.99 US I believe, and the games sold for $20 apiece, though in the end only 13 games were ever produced for it, with the last ones coming out in 2007. I feel like the biggest things that hurt ZapIt are the fact that none of the games have the action we usually come to expect from video games, with all of the Game Wave's games being trivia and puzzle based and the like, as they were focused on family entertainment. There was even a Veggie Tales game on the Game Wave. Also, none of the Game Wave's games were rated by the ESRB, which meant most retailers wouldn't carry them. The main places you would find Game Wave games were places like Christian book stores, since they knew the games didn't contain violence. I only found out about the Game Wave when I went to a store with my then girlfriend and found one in a cardboard box marked for $20 with a set of 4 controllers and one game, and I bought it out of curiosity. I now own all the games for it, but I have a feeling that very few people even know that it exists.

In a way, the Hyperscan was ahead of its time....Look at modern gaming....$70 to buy games that are incomplete....DLC packs that SHOULD have been included and loot boxes you have to pay real money for. Hyperscan was releasing incomplete games and relied on booster packs of cards to unlock the entire game.....plus running the risk of getting duplicates of cards you already have or don't need...much like loot boxes....but the games were cheaper.....

Atari Jaguar was a marketing mistake, all they needed to do was tell the truth and says its a Dual 32bit or 32bit X2 for short Console and make a half decent controller and it mightve survived a bit longer than it did, and gave game dev's the time they needed to understand the console, you forgot PS3 also having the same fck up of not giving the game dev's the time to understand the console technology.

6:10 For me personally, I see Hyperscan as a Miss out opportunity to get a Mugen game on the system. Like you could you imagine what it'll look like. You can literally create characters and stages and export them as cards and then import them into your game by scanning them and they'll be there forever. You can get the chance to get other people's cards and scan them into your game too. Also, Have another thing for scanning Screenpacks in. Once it's scanned, the game gets a new look unless you wanna change. Like, why isn't that a thing?! Instead we get 5 games with the flopped console that aren't very good. Then again, You have to look everywhere to get the cards to get the character you want to get them so it's probably best to just have that be just a concept

Virtual boy was weird, but it was FUN! I wasn't a fan of the bad color scheme, the headaches from long hours of play, the weird controller, or the game pausing every 15 minutes to tell you to look off in the distance for 15 minutes before resuming ..
But it had some very fun games in its limited selection. Wario World was probably one of the best mario-like games I remember playing as a kid. Teleroboxer was very difficult but always exciting. Mario Tennis was so simple but really fun and there hadn't been another fun tennis game on Nintendo until decades later with Wii Tennis. Waterworld was kind of awful. But galactic pinball I remember playing for hours straight. A lot of the games were so simple and yet so fun. And wario world really would have been an all time Nintendo classic game up there with Super Mario Land 2 and Mario Bros 3...if it had been made for a system that sold better and had a bigger market.
