    Welcome back! When life pulls me away from art/sewing etc. etc. I find cleaning out the draws, cabinets, and closets and letting go of UFOs (un-finished objects) that have a way of making me feel guilty for not finishing, or I have lost interest in. This helps rejuvenate.. also as you stated.. I have a 'short-term memory" and forget what I have. I have followed you and your paint recommends, always appreciated.

    Yessss. Same here re: having to see stuff. I had to completely re-do how I organized my art supplies, as well. I was using a tool chest to store all my smaller stuff…but then I wasn’t using anything in the drawers, because it was like they didn’t exist if I couldn’t see them. I really like your solution for your watercolor tubes!

    I take my paints from room to room throughout the day depending on where I feel like being. My system is a little basket where I keep a water jar, watercolour pencils, some brushes and a flower seed catalogue for quick reference ☺️

    Heyyyy welcome back, so nice to see you again. I used to love watching your videos so much that I still keep on rewatching old videos over and over. They are great inspiration for me... so much that in the end I started my own watercolour UA-cam channel. I'm still learning all the little tricks but it's so much fun. All the best for the future videos.

    Thank you for sharing this video with us, so glad that you are getting back into creating your art and sharing your art journey again. I have found that if you buy professional quality paints and this is true for watercolor & Gouache the best paints re-wet and there is no difference in the color from the tube. I will say my limited use of QoR watercolors leaves me with the impression that they are better out of the tube, but I have not been a huge fan of the paint so I may be wrong. I have purchased many palettes over the years and have finally found thrift store porcelain plates that work for me. I buy them at .99 cents or less, if I drop one no big deal and they are much lighter than commercial porcelain palettes! I have a couple of butcher trays too, they work wonderfully for “fresh” painting projects. Oh, I have spent years deciding on what paints are “the best” and if you ask 50 different artists you might get 50 different answers! My top 3 are #1 DaVinci of California, #2 Schmincke Hordam of Germany, #3 A. Gallo from Italy. The last is a handmade paint and a bit pricey if you want a “bigger brand” I would put Sennelier as a #3 alternate choice! I have mostly DaVinci paints in my palettes but I have several colors from different brands that I squeeze out just for convenience and love of a certain way the color looks. Well I blabbered on I am just so glad that you are enjoying creating again and I am hopeful that you will continue to create and share your art journey with us. Please take care of yourself and be easy in your mind. You are truly inspirational and an enjoyable artist to watch!

    This is a great idea! I tend not to use watercolour fresh from the tube (because I’m poor) so this isn’t really an issue for me, I really wanted to hang the tubes on the wall though because I always thought that looked cute, but I’m glad I’ve you’ve mentioned about them exploding… I definitely won’t be doing that now ahaha 😂

  • @Lorsmont
    @Lorsmont Рік тому

    Hi! You can put in the freezer for a couple of hours your tube paints, specially when they are new, to avoid the paint to explode out when you open them, or in the case you didn´t hung them upside down. The aim is to cool them enough so they don´t rush out like hell, but not to point of stone freeze them :) I saw this tip from Teoh Yi Chie on his UA-cam channel and it has been a great trick so far!

    Thankyou someone understands my worst enemy 🤣 I'm also bad where if stuff is messy I know where everything is but when I try to organize and put stuff in its place I forget I put them there (I blame the fibromyalgia). With no dedicated art space right now my dining room table is have cluttered with my projects cause if I put them away I forget lol

      Same here. The whole atmosphere around Covid and then getting it myself last April, sucked my creative energy right out of me. The only thing I do now and then is colour mixing in the hope of starting my painting up again. 🙈 I now have long Covid, and it's been a bore not even having enough energy to paint, even if I wanted to.
      Glad to see you again, Carrie, we battle as a group, and share, shall we?
      I have ADD as well, and as I am re-organising my creative corner as well with two big cupboards given to me by my granddaughter, I hope to create more space and tranquility on my table, but you also made me more aware of my own 'out of sight, out of mind' habit. Thank you for that, so that I can corporate it into the reorganisation.
