- The 113th Open Championship in 1984 produced one of the most iconic moments we have ever seen at The Open.
Over 150 players entered this Open, including 12 past champions, but the weekend belonged to the incredibly talented and much-loved Seve Ballesteros.
His triumphant fist pump immediately after his winning putt at St Andrews has lived on as one of the greatest moments in sporting history.
The Spaniard's victory was his second Open win and the fourth major of his career.
This victory was hard-fought for Seve, as he had to overcome Bernhard Langer and defending champion Tom Watson to win the Claret Jug.
It is time to look back at one of the most memorable Open’s of the 20th century.

I enjoyed that, shame Watson lost to Cink in whatever year that was. Love watching Seve
Lovely to hear those well remembered commentators of times past adding to our enjoyment watching 2 of the greats at the home of golf.
Epic, what a man Seve was. Was only thinking about him today when I played a few holes at Lytham
What a joy to watch Seve and Tom showcase their skills hitting persimmon woods off downhill lies using balata balls. No idea how today’s generation would handle it but it would be worth watching!
They’d handle it just fine Chris.
@@andrewrobinson8305 I’d imagine it would be as foreign to them as those in the 80s playing with hickory shafts and such.
Thank you for posting these old Open highlights - I'm hooked! All before my time but I want to soak it all up & learn/enjoy
Try hitting a modern day big headed driver off the deck it's a lot harder.
