In process of replacing all of the plumbing, which you have been so helpful in advising me, and all five current ball valves are broken and all are being replaced with diverters! When the handles break, and they leak, and won't close, the dollars saved on a ball valve are never worth it. Keep up the great info, it is truly priceless!
Chiming in a 0:19 just giggling at the irony of panning to a wall full of ball valves after saying diverters without a doubt! Keep up the helpful content!
I feel like I was clear when I said that both are acceptable to use, but diverters perhaps better but they are significantly more money. The take away is not that I don't like ball valves. It was an endorsement for single union ball valves
While I do understand the logic for the diverter valves, I am a firm believer in Praher Union Ball Valves. And to be honest look right behind Steve. They're everywhere. What's your thought on Prahers Union 3 way Diverter Valves?
Diverter valves makes sense when the project budget allows for it. With lower priced pools a single.union ball valve is the superior option simply because they work, last a long time, and are affordable. I like the union diverters. I have one on the suction side manifold of the system on the wall behind me!
I think I'm going to give them a try this year, problem is by me the pipes are so close together [ 1 1/2 St Elbow directly into a 3 way and force it together] kind of tight. I was worried about them fitting in manifolds.
I have not posted anything. There are some advantages for heavy debris load pools. I do not endorse the model with a built in chlorine dispenser, and if building new inprobably would install more regular skimmers instead of venturi. In cold climates venturi skimmers are harder to winterize.

Thanks, Swimming Pool Steve. Your recommendations are always helpful to me as a pool owner. Appreciate you!
Thank you for commenting! It helps the algorithm to know I am putting in some good work over here!
I am using a ball valve with a Union in it. What are the chances of it letting a little air in on the suction side, a foot from the pump.

Steve have you posted any videos on a venturi pool skimmers are there pros and cons?
